Honfleur’s cobbled lanes, timber-framed facades, and bustling Vieux Bassin make it one of Normandy’s most enchanting destinations. Yet after a morning of exploring art galleries or watching fishing boats bob in the harbor, hunger inevitably strikes. The good news is that this seaside town is as serious about food as it is about aesthetics.
Finding a table that pleases every generation can feel like a challenge when traveling with children or a multi-age group. You want authentic Norman flavors—think mussels, crêpes, and farmhouse cider—without the stiff formality that sometimes accompanies fine French dining. Fortunately, Honfleur is packed with welcoming spots that strike the perfect balance.
The best family-friendly restaurants here offer relaxed pacing, high chairs, and menus that go beyond the standard steak-frites for kids. Many also feature outdoor terraces where a dropped fork or an excited giggle won’t draw disapproving glances. Dining out with the family should feel like a treat, not a stress test.
Local restaurant owners in Honfleur understand that parents need a glass of crisp cider while kids need space to breathe. That is why you will find a mix of crêperies, brasseries, and seafood terraces where the welcome is warm and the portions are generous. The town’s compact center also means you are never far from a playground or the carousel for a post-meal energy burn.
Below, we have curated a list of standout addresses that combine quality cooking with a genuine welcome for younger diners. Each entry was chosen for its consistency, atmosphere, and practical touches like quick service or adaptable menus. Whether you are craving a paper-thin crêpe or a bowl of mussels, these spots deliver.
Use this guide to plan a stress-free meal after visiting the Naturospace butterfly house or before boarding a boat tour. With the right table reserved, you can focus on making memories rather than managing meltdowns.

Really nice spot right in front of the harbour, so the view is beautiful and it’s a lovely place to sit and watch the boats and people go by. The prices are a little high for the portions. I had the salmon and avocado toast, which was quite small, but the taste was really good! 🤤
The tarte Tatin for dessert absolutely hit the spot — it was SO good! My boyfriend enjoyed his dish a little less as he found it lacking in flavour, but overall we had a nice experience. The staff were also really friendly and welcoming. A great spot to relax and enjoy the harbour!

Delicious food friendly service. Horrendous music!
Saw this place on Google reviews with one of the the highest scores so decided to visit.
Friendly service and the food was delicious, albeit quite pricey. Fish soup was very tasty and lobster with pasta was superb but the whole experience was completely ruined by the horrendous eurotrash 90s dance music mix which gave me indigestion and totally killed the relaxing atmosphere of the port.
Change the music and I'd be back like a shot. Otherwise give it a miss.

The best meal I’ve had in France so far!
We started with the mussels in cream sauce, and they were absolutely divine. The sauce was rich, flavorful, and perfect for soaking up with bread. The oysters were also super fresh.
The tagliatelle homard was the star of the meal. You could really taste the quality of the ingredients—the fresh herbs, the beautifully balanced sauce, and the lobster itself. The portion was generous, with a whole lobster included, and it was incredibly juicy, fresh, and delicious.
Every element of the dish was executed perfectly. A memorable meal and a restaurant I would happily return to.

I went with friends and waited for 5minutes to get seat. Staff was friendly and helpful even though they spoke little English. Food was good especially lobsters. The Normandy dessert was good. It seems bit overpriced but worthy for the price. Outside was crowded

A fantastic restaurant- you could tell the staff are happy to be there! The crepes we had were delicious and filling. We tried the Normandie and the pepper steak. Very comfortable chairs and such a pretty view! My favourite of our trip so far.

We found this spot on our way to Honfleur. Welcome us and the dog for a walk in booking. Sat in the courtyard area which is beautifully decorated. Our waitress spoke some English and was super friendly!
Burgers and chocolate mouse was 10/10! Hit the spot as we were starving!! Would definitely go back! Skip the tourist spots on the water!

Easily the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. So so so delicious. The drinks were also exceptional. Try the chocolate mousse! Also incredible. Really cool vibe. Good music playing. Absolutely give it a try!!!!

The menu is mostly burgers, so vegetarian and vegan should probably go elsewhere.
For the meat and cheese lovers, this is your stop. Calling their items burgers doesn't make it justice. These burgers are elevated, rich and decadent. Probably one of the best burger I ever had. The amount of cheese on it was almost sinful. The price goes with it, at 20€ the burgers are not cheap, but well worth it.
The fries were also good.
The service was great. The restaurant offers limited seating inside and some seating outside. We were there at the opening and a line was forming, which says quite a lot about the popularity of the place. The inside is cute.
I happily recommend it and will be back if I get a chance.
Arfon Davies★★★★★
As many others have said, the burgers here are very good indeed. Very unique too - interesting combinations on offer that most first time visitors won't have tried before. The cheesecake is also something very special - this is my favourite dessert and I've eaten a lot of good cheesecakes in my time. This one was excellent - so good I could have ordered another. Highly recommend.
Iwan Davies★★★★★
It was amazing here.
When we first arrived it took them ages to even notice us waiting to be seated, they just walked past us.
However once we were seated they were quick to ask for what we wanted and we were served our food swiftly.
The food was exceptional, the burgers were unreal and delicious, with the fries also being tasty. For dessert I had the chocolate mousse which was delicious and my dad had the cheesecake, which he said was unbelievably good. If I could I would give the food a 6 out of 5.
The atmosphere was nice, with nice seating.
Overall it was very nice here and I would recommend coming.

Really professional and genuine service.👍
The mussel is fresh and generous portion.
Nice choice of oyster on the menu, really delicious. ( suggest change the serving bowl , oyster juice run out or add ice underneath the oyster)
grey shrimp soup really under season can't bring out the umami
fish of the day is not seasoned, with a bland cream sauce, served with side veg that was really overcooked. (egg plant in it is under cooked at the same time)
This poor quality plat I will only expect in some poorly organized large scale tourist trap restaurant
Pim Beckers★★★★★
First time at L’envie and definitely had a good time. First of all, the service was very good. Very friendly, professional and well-mannered. The food was very tasty and of good quality. Would definitely recommend the mussels with the cream sauce. The fries, although soft, were very flavoured. If I’m ever back in Honfleur, I’d go back to L’envie!

We were a family of 15 (2 grandparents, 6 parents, 7 young adult grandkids) on our annual family trip. This year we traveled through Normandy and Brittany.
During our visit to Honfleur, we booked lunch at L’Envie. It is a small, charming restaurant that was a fantastic find. They were incredibly welcoming, even for such a large group, and all the dishes were superb. I would not hesitate to go again and highly recommend it!

It was very nice here.
The food was delicious, I highly recommend the steak and fries as it was delicious.
Service was quite slow to ask for our order but once we ordered it came quickly.

Although we arrived earlier than our reservation time, we finished dining at 3:30 p.m. The staff served us with great patience and never gave the impression of being in a hurry to close. This is a restaurant that combines both delicious food and warmth.

Cosy restaurant that serves great food and friendly service.
We went with the fixed menu, which gave us some great options. A few tables around us had seafood platters, which looked amazing.

Went here for dinner just from the glowing reviews ive seen of it online! We asked to be seated in the heated outdoor dining area as we had three dogs with us and they happily obliged. We were served some light snacks while waiting for our meal.
The place was packed at 7:30pm and if you want to be seated inside, calling to reserve a table is highly recommended. The only downside of a popular restaurant is the wait time, but it is well worth it! 💖 Both the dishes we ordered were definitely impressive. The fish were cooked still tender and moist. It was interesting to have tagliatelle veggies to go with the fish! Ingredients were fresh and delicious. Prices are on the above average side, but i was very happy with my overall experience!
Sadly the dessert was a big lackluster and was nothing particularly special. It almost taste as if it were store bought and plated. In any case, despite this dish, everything was lovely and i had a pleasant experience and still recommend this restaurant!
Despite the crowd, the service didn't suffer and the staff were courteous and friendly, even offering you an english menu if needed.

Delicious galettes, crêpes, and cider!
The galette dough itself was one of the tastiest we’ve had. I had a comté and egg galette and it was very good. Comté gives much more flavor than the usual emmental.
We also tried their dessert crêpes and house pancake. Both were good. Personally the pancake tasted and felt like an American pancake and was just ok. I’d recommend a regular crêpes more.
However, the galette was SO greasy. It looked as if they had poured oil on top of it when it was done. This was unappealing and made it heavier than it needed to be.
I also did not love the lack of customization possible and the harsh, unfriendly service by one of the waitresses. It felt like she was annoyed that we were there despite the place being half empty at the time we arrived.
Mackers★★★★★
Only stayed here for about half an hour but their crepe with caramel beurre salé was fantastic and their pour of cidre was a refreshing complement without carrying too high of an alcohol content. Would highly recommend and would go back.
Only criticism is that I went with a big tour group and some people in our group didnt receive what they had ordered

Not only the best gluten free gallete I’ve ever had, but a very cool environment and incredibly hospitable, friendly owner and staff. Really blown away!

We came to Honfleur for a walk and decided it was the perfect opportunity to have a classic French crêpe for breakfast. We found this little crêperie through Google reviews and decided to give it a try.
I ordered a savory crêpe with salmon, while my husband had one with bacon. Both were very filling and tasty. The only thing I personally wasn’t completely used to was the batter, as I normally prefer a slightly sweeter taste, but I believe this is the traditional style used for savory French galettes, so it was simply a matter of personal preference.
I also ordered a freshly made fruit and vegetable juice, which was really refreshing, while my husband tried the cider — also very good and a perfect match with the crêpes.
The only downside was the service. Our waitress didn’t speak English, which of course is absolutely fine, but even when it was clear that we couldn’t understand French, she continued answering us only in French, which made communication quite difficult. We also ordered an additional drink that was unfortunately forgotten, and overall the service didn’t feel particularly warm or welcoming.
That said, the food itself was very good, and it was a lovely way to start our day in beautiful Honfleur and experience a classic French crêperie.

Awesome ice cream place in Honfleur. The ice cream guy was pretty nice and the ice creams were really creamy, good flavour.
I think the customer service could’ve been a bit more proactive in terms of cleaning the table we chose to sit in before we asked a couple times, and perhaps the toilets could’ve been a tad cleaner. That’s why I wouldn’t rate them all five stars.
Other than that, awesome place! 100% recommended !

It is very delicious!! We tried the ice cream not the crepe. Although the smell of crepe was so nice! They are so generous with the quantity and the flavors are so delicious and they are truly homemade flavors 😋 the owners of the restaurant are very nice.

Lovely dinner here tonight, sat out in the sunshine on the outdoor tables. The host was very friendly and keen to help, and the food options were varied and interesting. 2 great vegetarian options (out of 5 total options!) so definitely vegetarian friendly. The meals were full of vegetables, tasted fresh and were made using seasonal ingredients. Drinks and desserts were tasty and local too! Highly recommend this little gem ☺️

A wonderful experience in the heart of Honfleur
Restaurant Sauvage is a true gem – beautiful setting, friendly staff, and excellent food. We enjoyed a perfectly cooked main course, a light and tasty poke bowl, and delicious desserts. We were especially impressed by the Duo cerise estragon – an original and beautifully balanced dessert that’s a treat for both the taste buds and the eyes.
A lovely surprise was the homemade cider – well-balanced and perfectly complementing the meal. The price-to-quality ratio is excellent. We highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates honest, creative cuisine with character and heart.

An incredible place. They mostly cater for take away orders but if you are lucky enough to spot a free table (one inside and two outside) go for it! The menu changes weekly, produce is local and organic and comes from the chef's parents garden; you can also taste apple cider and juice produced by his father. The food was simply scrumptious, so so delicious. A separate note on the place design, it is slick and minimalistic-ly chic. Highly recommend

During my recent business trip, I stumbled upon a hidden gem of a restaurant that caught my attention on Google. With only two tables, this intimate spot offers a thoughtfully curated menu featuring meat, vegetarian, and fish dishes. Although it lacks the extensive setup of larger establishments, the chef’s dedication to crafting each dish is evident in the flavors. Don’t miss the ultimate highlight: the French toast dessert, which is absolutely top-notch and worth the visit alone.

Incredible restaurant with a rotating menu and great concept. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone in Honfleur, especially those seeking creative and inspired takes using local ingredients. We had a wonderful experience and cannot recommend enough.

Omg. Just wow. We were absolutely starving after flying into paris and driving over and decided on the prefix lunch. What a treat that was. A little yogurt with a fruit jam and a biscuit to start with, along with a coffee product and a juice blend, followed by a dish with salad, savory biscuits, smoked turkey/salmon, eggs, potatoes. When we were in a food coma, they brought another sampler of 4 desserts. All absolutely delicious! This gem makes a trip to honfluer worth it in its own.
Jean Pierre Bisilliat★★★★☆
Loved everything about this place. I gave 4 stars because they really should have a totally separate menu for the items they serve at different times. I saw things I wanted but couldn’t get both time I went. The food was delicious and the croissants are perfection! The dish with sweet potato waffles was spectacular! See photo..

A must during your stay in Honfleur. We love the food, the service is always excellent, very kid friendly and there is a lovely atmosphere! Definitely order the pain perdu.
Regina Paltis★★★★☆
I have mixed feelings about this place. We arrived between breakfast and lunch. We were seated right away but it took us 10 mins to get a menu and then another 5 mins for a waitress to take our drink order and we didn't get our drinks for 25 mins after that. By this point, I was pretty mad. Eventually our food was brought out, and it was very good, so that made up for the wait slightly.
My recommendation would be to come here after 11 am. Anything before that is super slow and the menu is very minimal before that time. On a positive note, it's a very cute atmosphere, both inside and outside. The issue seemed to be a lack of staff. What appeared to be a husband and wife team, they were both very nice when they came by, but very elusive because it was just the two of them. Food was yummy.
Paul Cook★★★★★
Wonderful, very accommodating and had wonderful breakfasts. The chef was lovely to chat to and sorted my wife’s breakfast to cater for her gluten intolerance. Lovely style and ambience to the place as well.

Nice brasserie style food. Their classic burger for 13.50 was very tasty! Also their formule with 19.00 for 2 courses was good also. The poke bowl was nice and the piece of meat was nice too!
The service was so and so as the one waiter started to speak Spanish to me and because i couldn't understand (as i speak Greek and French) I asked her politely to speak French to me. Later she was ignoring me and stopped talking to me! The other waitress instead was friendly and helpful!
Overall, nice food at good prices in a touristy place like Honfleur!

We had a lovely experience at L’Alcyone in Honfleur! The staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere was warm and cozy, with both indoor and outdoor seating available.
We tried “Le Clacos” – a baked Camembert served with potatoes and charcuterie – and it was absolutely delicious. The portion was generous and it was totally worth it. We also had the mijoté de veau au cidre, which was flavorful.
For dessert, we went with the brioche façon pain perdu and the tartelette aux pommes – both were sweet and satisfying.
Highly recommended if you’re in Honfleur and looking for a delicious and authentic experience!
Rian Gonzales★★★★★
Our b&b host recommend L'Alcyone as one of the best casual restaurants Honfleur has to offer so we took the bite and went for it. I'm happy it was well worth the rave as we've only had the best possible service during dinner. Despite the place buzzling with people even at 9pm, we were able to be seated outside with our 3 dogs (we were a group of 6). Our server offered a bowl of water for the dogs right away and he was very accommodating and nice.
I knew mussels were a bit off season so i was not expecting them to be their usual size. Despite the smaller size, the mussels we were served were fresh and was flavorful. It was cooked just right and the servings were hefty. The Poulette version was hands down my favorite. The Camembert one was good but i felt it was too overpowering and can be a bit too overwhelming after a while to my taste
The star of the show was definitely the Honfleur Stew! 💖 It had just the right amount of broth and flavor from the seafood and you are served with bread on the side to soak the soup with.
I was overall happy with my experience in this restaurant and it definitely lived up to its glowing reviews! 💖

Preston Kemp★★★☆☆
Great service from a very friendly waitress, and the mussels were pretty good. But the fish & chips - oh my god. It was a piece of cheap frozen fish from a supermarket, for which they charged around 21 euros. It took an awfully long time for the food to come (much longer than other tables), so I wonder if they'd run out of proper fish & had to send someone to the shop for that. It has lots of glowing reviews so we were obviously just unlucky. Really disappointing.

This was a really fun little place, not quite as touristy as all the other places. Absolutely fantastic choice of burgers and incredibly friendly staff. Plus we didn’t have to wait very long at all for food to come and it was delicious and plentiful when it came. Plus quiet outdoor seating in the evening sun. A cool little restaurant. What more can I say?

They’ve managed to turn a classic hamburger into a truly French experience. The highlight is their creative twist—bringing the flavors of a tartiflette into a burger. Rich, comforting, and full of character, a perfect example of how tradition and creativity can come together. A must-try if you want something different yet authentically French.
And the staff is great.

Great place for a hamburger with a gluten-free bun! If you’re looking for a tasty burger with a gluten-free option, this spot is a great choice. The fries were delicious too! If you’d like to sit inside, it’s best to call ahead and make a reservation a day in advance. I’m not sure if they offer an English menu, so that’s something to keep in mind. The restaurant is located on a quiet side street, away from the busy crowds, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

American style, homemade burgers with European flair, including a burrata burger. The skin-on fries are freshly made. They also have a variety of simple but satisfying salads, like fried chicken and smoked salmon. They have a few beers on tap and more bottled beers including a porter. There's only a few tables inside so make a booking, but there's plenty of outdoor seating.

It’s always a pleasure to write a positive review. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and honestly, there was nothing to complain about. We really enjoyed everything, especially the great value for money. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful night. The food was fabulous and the wine was divine. The service was absolutely outstanding. The owner was gracious in allowing me to practice my very basic French language without showing any sign of impatience. To top it off there was a jazz singer and her accompaniment who was superb and rounded out the night. It was truly a fantastic night and will be something we will remember forever.

13 of us booked a celebration lunch for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Although some of our party arrived very late the staff were super patient with us. The food was exceptional, generous portions and everyone loved what they ordered. Highly recommended

Great little find in Honfleur. We went there for Friday lunch. I ordered the midi lunch option and all food was top notch and excellently executed. Definitely worth the additional money spent in comparison to the other local options. The self made Calvados / Strawberry mix was a great conclusion to an awesome experience. They even made us feel very welcome with a 19 month old.

Not bad, we were expecting a bit more on the food, it wasn't as tasty as it did look and probably not at the level of the price, but was good enough. The service was a bit messy but nothing catastrophic. It was all "good but not enough" hence a rating of 4.
Tips for Dining Out with Kids in Honfleur
A little advance planning goes a long way when navigating Honfleur’s dining scene with children. The town’s peak season runs from May to September, and popular terraces fill up quickly. These practical strategies will help you avoid long waits, keep everyone happy, and experience the best of Norman hospitality.
Book ahead or arrive early. Honfleur’s most popular family-friendly terraces often have a wait by 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Call ahead for lunch or dinner, especially on weekends and during summer festivals. If you cannot reserve, aim to arrive right when the kitchen opens.
Embrace the crêperie culture. Crêperies are the unsung heroes of family dining in Normandy. They serve food quickly, offer sweet and savory options that appeal to picky eaters, and rarely mind a bit of noise. Many also have gluten-free buckwheat galettes, which are a great option for sensitive stomachs.
Ask for the menu enfant but be flexible. Many restaurants offer a fixed children’s menu, but portions can be large or limited to fried items. Do not hesitate to ask for a half portion of an adult dish or a simple plate of pasta with butter. French kitchens are generally accommodating when the request is polite.
Leverage the harbor for entertainment. A table with a view of the Vieux Bassin can buy you an extra twenty minutes of calm. Kids love watching the boats, street performers, and seagulls. Request an outdoor table facing the water, but keep an eye on little ones near the quay’s edge.
Time meals around nap schedules and tides. If your child still naps, plan a late lunch around 1:30 p.m. when the rush has subsided. Alternatively, pick up picnic supplies from the Wednesday or Saturday market and eat on a bench near the Jardin des Personnalités. This gives kids freedom to move without disturbing other diners.
Honfleur rewards those who slow down and savor the moment, and that is especially true when dining with family. A relaxed meal overlooking the harbor, with the scent of salted butter and cider in the air, is one of the simplest pleasures this Norman town offers. The right restaurant turns a quick bite into a core memory of your trip.
As you plan your days, remember that flexibility and a sense of humor are your best travel companions. Honfleur’s family-friendly tables are ready to welcome you, whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply refueling between adventures. Bon appétit.
