A well-maintained botanical garden with a diverse collection of Mediterranean and exotic plants. Even if you’re not a plant enthusiast, the sea views are a nice bonus. However, it can get extremely hot, so be sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, and water for a more comfortable visit.
Cynthia Rose★★★★★
Lovely place to stroll, plants blooming during our spring visit, many of them marked by country and name. Views to the sea are also worthwhile. Highly recommend.

Not really worth going to be honest. It‘s pretty but there is not much to see and the park was almost empty when we were there on a Sunday. It‘s a bit far from the center and you have to walk uphill.
Louise Grant★☆☆☆☆
Lovely garden a mixture of wildflowers and more organised planting. Much quieter than the Cactus Gardens at Eze which we visited with our small dog a view days before. We were half way round our walk and hadn't seen another person. This was then spoiled as an employee came and told us we would have to leave as we had a dog with us. Very disappointing and unecessary as well. Such a shame so don't visit if you have a dog!
Andrei Conțiu★★★☆☆
Great place to relax. A big outdoor garden, pretty well taken care. There are no indoor premises or a terrace where you can find something to drink and that can be a minus. The plants are well labeled and you can see almost 3000 species. Admission is free.

Parc Phœnix is a really enjoyable experience and great value for money, with entry costing around €6. There is plenty to see, including crocodiles, wallabies, otters, flamingos, insects, snakes, porcupines, peacocks, chickens, goats and more. The animals all appeared well cared for which was nice to see.
One of the highlights is the indoor area with large glass ceilings, which creates a really unique environment. There are also lots of outdoor spaces with plenty of seating, surrounded by beautiful palm trees, gardens and water features.
There is a small restaurant or snack hut on site, and toilets are available throughout the park. The staff are very friendly and helpful. In addition to the animals, there are also lots of interesting plants and flowers to explore.
The location is very convenient, being close to transport links, the airport and nearby hotels, making it an easy and worthwhile visit.
Overall, a great place to spend a few hours, especially for the price 🌴🦩
张峻旗★★★★☆
A very pleasant place to visit, and extremely easy to reach by public transport. The park is well maintained and nicely landscaped, and the animals generally seemed to be kept in reasonably good conditions. I also didn’t notice much stereotypical or repetitive behavior, which was reassuring from an animal welfare perspective.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the Asian small-clawed otters. It was a very hot day, so they may have been staying indoors or somewhere cooler.
I arrived at around 3 p.m., and one thing to be aware of is that the large glass-domed greenhouse can become extremely hot and stuffy in the afternoon. There didn’t seem to be much ventilation, so it was quite uncomfortable in the heat.
As an international visitor, I also think the signage could be improved. It would be helpful to have more direction signs at intersections inside the park. At the moment, many signs only show the French names of the animals. Adding English names, or even simple animal illustrations/icons, would make navigation much easier and more intuitive for foreign visitors.
Overall, a convenient and enjoyable park with good landscaping and a positive impression of animal care, but the visitor experience could be improved with better multilingual signage and ventilation in the greenhouse.
Bryony Holroyd★★★★★
Beautiful gardens, and interesting smaller animals to see, can't believe it was only €5.50 entry! I loved the Tamarins, my husband liked the crocodiles, and we both liked the otters and chickens! We visited earlier today - a Tuesday in late May, by tram (very easily accesible from Nice), and it was quiet. Unfortunately the Museum of Asian Arts is closed on Tues. N.B. it is right next to the airport, so expect some noise and jet fuel smells (but you can't help the neighbours!).
Ariana Davies★★★★★
Amazing! What great value, our kids were free and we were only €5.50 each to get in. If this was in the UK it would be about £25-30 each, if not more..! We had such a lovely morning wandering around and enjoying all the park has to offer, we could probably have spent longer if we didn't have plans in the afternoon. Worth a visit for sure.
Monica Widman★★★★★
Beautiful greenhouses and gardens with picnic tables if you want to pack a picnic( or small kiosk for crepes, Ice-cream) , a few animals and a playground for children. Restrooms near the entrance (also wheelchair accessible). Parking streetside could be problematic 2 hr max. Parking lot may be a better option. Located directly in front of Nice airport.

Best way to explore and admire the Nice town from above is by little hiking, visiting collines du Château, the palace with pretty waterfalls that has been acknowledged by UNESCO as the winter resort town of the French Riviera Peninsula (côte d’azur).
Don’t worry for the senior citizens, or if you don’t want to hiking by stairs you can use public ancesseur, but usually it’s very packed with people long queues, you need to be patient.
When you reach the top, you will find so many sections, kids friendly playground, many 360 degree view points, historical sculptures, memoir of the victims of terrorist acts, etc.
Thiva Thurailingam★★★★☆
Lovely walk to the falls. Unfortunately, we ended up doing the hike in the middle of the day when the temperature was over 35°C, and the kids had a tough time with the heat.
I would recommend doing it in the evening instead. The temperatures are more comfortable, and you'll be rewarded with a beautiful sunset view from the top. Highly recommended! 😊🌅🌿

Beautiful, you will get a lot of steps in. I think there are tours available on golf cart trains if you don’t want to climb. There are no clear directions so we had to depend on asking others. It’s worth visiting for sure.

The views at Colline du Château were absolutely breathtaking. Almost every corner was Instagram-worthy, making it such a beautiful place to explore and take photos.
We ended up staying for quite a while because of the stunning panoramic views overlooking the Promenade des Anglais, the city, and Port Lympia on the other side. Despite the number of tourists around, the atmosphere still felt serene and peaceful.
The combination of nature, fresh air, and relaxing scenery made the whole experience incredibly calming and enjoyable.

A beautiful park with wonderful views of the surrounding area and plenty of picnic tables and benches to eat at. There are also little offshoot trails that loop around the park that are nice to walk down. The bus stops near the picnic tables but far away from the fort / castle near the top so be prepared to walk if you take transit.
John Christian★★★★★
Hiked up from old town Nice. It was quite a hike, but we made it in about an hour or so. Hiked down the other side to Villfranche. Ended up taking the train back to Nice.
Ken Crasta★★★★★
Well worth the short climb up to this park. You will be rewarded with views of the old town of Nice as well as the beachfront. The new town and the mountains beyond are present in the background. Lots of places to relax on the grass and several benches. There are about a dozen viewpoints including the panaroma right at the top. Take food and water with you if you need them.
Mike McInerney★★★★☆
Lovely park to visit for a picnic, a good walk (fairly hilly), or to visit the fort (only external viewing available).
You can drive right up to the top with free parking, or get the bus from Nice .
Great views from the top of both Nice and Villefranche. The walk back down into Nice is scenic and very steep. Just a word of warning. The walk through the trees that is mapped in one of my pictures is very rough, rocky, and requires good footwear.
Jared Uraine★★★★★
Exquisite views and history available to experience anytime on this hilltop park. Besure to walk the Stairs and ally ways through old town to get a true appreciation of this mountain side village. Spectacular sweeping views of the coast and mountains allow you to see from the Surf to the Snow. Walk the Stone path and find the bay, the cove, top of the hill with waterfall below... enjoy the history.

What a view!!! Exceptional and the best look-out in the area.
The gardens were experimentally busy and difficult in the heat. Steep steps, narrow streets and limited shade make for a challenging day.
Tickets were necessary.
The village is filled with shops and places to eat.
Only one public toilet (paid) at the bottom of the gardens hill.
For history lovers this is fascinating and worth your while.
It puts the French Riviera in perspective.
I would recommend for children and elderly and I would recommend visiting for a couple hours instead of staying the night.
We had a taxi take us to the village from the train station as walking would have been very difficult.
I recommend this in the morning or perhaps for sunset.
Bring water and a hat!
Dorota Keight★★★★★
The gardens are wonderful and views are spectacular. There is a gorgeous area within the garden with a few seats and cascade behind which is a lovely place for a photo. There are interesting plants around. There are lots of stairs, so need to be mobile to be able to visit. The machine for the tickets is on the bottom of the hill, next to the visitor centre. You can spend a very long time waiting in the queue, so it is better to either walk half way up and there is another machine with almost nobody waiting there ( although easy to miss while going through the village). It is also possible to walk all the way up and there is a ticket office there. It takes up to 1h to see the gardens. Just on the bottom of the gardens and next to the hotel entrance there is a path down ( all the way to the train station) although it looks a bit demanding. The village is amazing, with most wonderful and unique art shops. There are interesting jewellery shops, clothes shops and some restaurants. The bus service around 10:00am to Eze village and gardens and back to the Eze train station around 1:00pm were both packed at the end of August with no space to sit down on the bus. The bus driver was driving very fast and it was hard to stay steady on your feet through the whole journey. There are no toilets in the garden. There are paid toilets in two places in the village.
Zolla★★★★★
Amazing place, great view, lots of tropic herbs and rich history of this place!
I suggest that you buy tickets on machine down in town for the garden, since if you wait to buy on entrance, like I did, you can wait from 10-20mins depending on the line before you, and if you buy down, you just pass and enter straight. Tickets are 10€ for adults.
Take a tour strainght up to the top, see the good view and then take right and make tour around to visit all sides.
Read tables with explanations about everything there is to know, I took pictures of some things and useful info.
Enjoy your tour like I did!

Here is a review that captures the stunning beauty of the garden while keeping it very real about the social media crowd:
**⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) – Breathtaking Views, if You Can See Past the Selfie Sticks**
Let’s start with the positives: the Jardin Exotique d’Èze is undeniably spectacular. Perched ruins of a medieval fortress over 1,400 feet above the Mediterranean, it offers what might be the single best panoramic view of the French Riviera. The collection of cacti, succulents, and exotic plants is beautifully curated, and the "Earth Goddess" sculptures by Jean-Philippe Richard add a lovely, serene touch to the pathways. On a clear day, it feels like you're standing on the edge of the world.
However, your ability to actually enjoy this garden depends heavily on your tolerance for "influencer culture."
Today, the garden functions less like a botanical sanctuary and more like a high-altitude backdrop for Instagram and TikTok. Every single photogenic corner, scenic ledge, and narrow pathway was completely clogged by people doing elaborate photoshoot routines. You will spend a good portion of your visit waiting for someone to finish their fifteenth consecutive pouty pose, dodging selfie sticks, or awkwardly trying not to walk through the frame of someone's transition video. The main viewing platform felt less like a historic ruin and more like an outdoor casting call.
If you want to experience the true, peaceful magic of this place, **go the absolute minute it opens in the morning.** Otherwise, you'll be sharing the panoramic views with an army of content creators trying to convince their followers they have the place all to themselves.
**Tips for visiting:**
* Wear comfortable shoes; the climb up from the village is steep.
* Bring patience.
* Absolutely worth the ticket price for the view alone, just prepare yourself for the crowd!

Absolutely beautiful village with breathtaking views! 🌿✨
Èze Village is truly one of the most charming places on the French Riviera. The narrow stone streets, beautiful little shops, and stunning views of the Mediterranean make it feel like stepping into a fairytale.
Definitely take your time to walk around and explore every little corner. The views from the top are absolutely worth the climb! It can get quite crowded, but it’s still a place I would highly recommend visiting.
A must-see if you’re exploring the French Riviera! 🇫🇷💙

Promenade du Paillon was honestly one of the coolest and most beautiful spots I visited in Nice 🇫🇷✨ The atmosphere there at night was absolutely incredible, especially around the illuminated water fountains and reflection pools. Seeing the fountains light up with different colours while the water danced into the air created such an amazing and relaxing vibe. 🌊🌈
What I loved most was how lively and interactive the entire area felt. There were families, tourists, and locals all enjoying the fountains, taking photos, relaxing, and just soaking in the atmosphere. It somehow feels peaceful and energetic at the same time, which made the whole experience unforgettable.
The reflections from the lights on the water looked absolutely beautiful at night and made every photo come out amazing. The surrounding architecture, palm trees, gardens, and city lights all come together perfectly to create one of the most scenic spots in Nice. 📸✨
Walking through the park and fountain area felt magical, especially during the evening when everything starts glowing. The sound of the water, warm weather, and overall energy of the city made it one of my favourite places to just stop, relax, and enjoy the moment.
Promenade du Paillon completely exceeded my expectations. Beautiful, modern, relaxing, and unforgettable all at once. If you’re visiting Nice, this is absolutely a must see, especially at night when the fountains and lights bring the whole area to life. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to the French Riviera 🙌🇫🇷🌊

Discovered the park with our 4 little kids , it’s pure paradise both for kids and adults to shelter you from the unbearable afternoon heat . The kids loved the numerous fountains, then moved to the wooden gym-set and lots of other attractions, there are plenty of benches for adults and you may simply rest on the soft grass. There is a lot of greenery , beautiful birds. On the downside, during the weekends the place gets very busy, even overcrowded, and some people smoke right on the grass next to the kids!!! Smoking at such a place must be prohibited!!! We also saw a huge rat passing by the bench;)

Beautiful, refreshing pedestrian-only greenway stretching for many blocks between the main shopping areas and Old Town. Several playgrounds and water features make it fun for children. Many trees, shrubs, flower gardens, benches and tables make it a relaxing, calm spot to sit and rest, enjoy a picnic lunch or just people-watch.

We're always looking for gardens to stroll through and this one was perfect. It's free with beautiful surroundings and it's right next to the Promenade des Anglais. It really didn't take us long to wander around, so it was the perfect little stop in the middle of our day to just pop in and pop back out. Next time we'll stop in at the museum, but we just couldn't resist a quick walk around taking in all the blooms. Would definitely recommend!

The Garden of the Cimiez Monastery is a beautiful and tranquil place to spend an afternoon in Nice, France. The garden was originally created in the 16th century by Franciscan monks, and it has been carefully tended ever since. Today, the garden is home to a variety of plants, including citrus trees, olive trees, and cypress trees. There are also several fountains and ponds, as well as a small terrace with a panoramic view of the city and the Mediterranean Sea.
The garden is open to the public free of charge, and it is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Visitors can wander the paths, relax on the benches, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of the garden. The garden is also a great place to take photos, and it is often used as a backdrop for weddings and other events.
If you are looking for a relaxing and beautiful place to spend an afternoon in Nice, I highly recommend visiting the Garden of the Cimiez Monastery.
Here are some of the things you can do in the garden:
Take a walk through the paths and admire the plants and flowers.
Relax on one of the benches and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Visit the small terrace with the panoramic view of the city and the Mediterranean Sea.
Take photos of the garden and the surrounding city.
Visit the nearby Matisse Museum and the Cimiez Cemetery.
Here are some tips for visiting the garden:
Admission to the garden is free.
The garden can get crowded, especially during the summer months. If you want to avoid the crowds, try to visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Wear comfortable shoes, as there are a lot of paths to walk on.
Bring sunscreen and a hat, as the garden can get hot in the summer.
Bring a camera, as you will want to take photos of the beautiful garden.

Originally the garden of the Franciscan Monastery of Cimiez, it developed from the vegetable garden cultivated by the friars after they settled here in 1546. The City of Nice later transformed it into a public garden, opening it to the public in 1927. Today, it is an Italian-inspired formal garden with flower beds, roses, fruit trees, and pergolas. The terraces at the end of the garden offer views over the eastern hills of Nice and toward the Mediterranean.

Wandered around here one weekday afternoon in late July. A lovly spot away from the crowds and perfect for a picnic. Jardin Alsace Lorraine is a public park located on the borders of the Thiers and Gambetta neighborhoods in Nice. While there are benches (some shaded while others are not) and there are a few statues, this is an average public park / garden. If you’re in the area then make a stop. Would not go out of the way for this. On the positive side, there are plenty of cafes and bars in the area that are worth checking out.

The playground and facilities are tired, but set in a nice park. We went in August, looking to tire out little one out with a different playground. The splash pad was dry and looked like it hadn’t been used for a while. The playground initially looked good but was a bit tired and depending on what you touched you came away with very rusty hands. The public toilet is free, but had no toilet seat, toilet paper or soap!

Participating in the UTMB event in Nice this September was an unforgettable experience. The registration and the finish line, was beautifully set along the iconic Promenade des Anglais.
The late summer sun added a golden warmth to the atmosphere, making it perfect for enjoying the beach before and after the race.
The promenade itself is a dream for runners. Its wide, open layout easily accommodates a mix of runners, cyclists, and walkers, all drawn to the stunning coastal views. There’s a constant stream of runners soaking in the beauty of the Mediterranean, creating a vibrant and inspiring energy.
Whether you're racing or spectating, the UTMB Nice offers a unique blend of athletic challenge and scenic enjoyment. Highly recommended for anyone looking to combine endurance sport with the charm of the French Riviera.

A pleasant spot with palm trees and other plants right next to the promenade and the beach. It could use some benches, though, since you can only go for a walk there.

My 5 stars to this lively esplanade is for the harmony between buildings of typical Niçoise architecture and exotic trees. The yellow building at the east side has its walls painted with windows and balconies that look very realistic!

I visited Esplanade Georges Pompidou in Nice and found it to be a peaceful spot by the sea. The standout feature is the “Neuf Lignes Obliques” sculpture by Bernar Venet, installed in 2010 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Nice’s annexation to France. The sculpture’s nine inclined steel beams create a striking visual against the Mediterranean backdrop. The esplanade is a pleasant place to relax and enjoy the coastal views.

Parc de la Coulée Verte can be found along the esplanade separating new Nice from the historic old town. This park is a central location for action - there was a cultural festival celebrating food and live music and a section of the park was closed off for kids riding their bicycles around an obstacle course with a police man teaching them traffic rules. There are plenty of benches and even a water fountain that shoots water up from the ground where families play on warm days. It’s perfectly quiet early and the morning and becomes more and more lively as the day progresses. Lovely to walk through. Highly recommend as you’ll never know what you’ll find.

This park was once an agricultural area where people would grow livestock and fruits, but today, people visit this place full of nature to go for a run, walk dogs, have a picnic and so on. Trails are generally loose with gravels. There are about two or three entrances all of which are close to a bus stop from Nice Centre.

Small but powerful garden dedicated to the Armenian community of France.
The Armenian community of France has a lot of history since their migration following the Armenian Genocide.
This garden is home to a tribute to Charles Aznavour as well as a cross stone dedicated to the survivors of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

A small piece of my Armenia, a garden laid out in the center of Nice, in memory of the 1,500,000 innocent Armenians killed and deported on the territory of Turkey.

Dense and pretty vegetation, but the benches and surroundings desperately need a pressure washing as they smell so bad, reeking of urine...put toilets in the city!

Mediterranean plants, flowers and extraordinary calm right next to the Promenade des Anglais and the Meridian...
Ben B★☆☆☆☆
When it was renovated in May 2024, the garden was truly a success! It was beautiful, clean, and pleasant!
I was very happy that the city had undertaken such a renovation of this space.
However, it didn't take long for it to become (like many other green spaces in the city center) frequently closed due to events (as if green spaces were only used for storing equipment during events).
Also, the garden is often frequented by undesirable people.
And it's once again a place where you can't let your dog off-leash, and where city workers are constantly on the lookout, solely to issue tickets.
What was initially a very good initiative is, in reality, nothing but a mirage.
Tips for Visiting Parks and Gardens in Nice
To make the most of your time in Nice’s green spaces, a little local knowledge goes a long way. While these parks are generally welcoming and easy to navigate, understanding the local climate and customs will significantly enhance your experience. Here are some practical recommendations to ensure your visit is as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.
1. Time Your Visit to Avoid the Midday Heat
The Mediterranean sun can be intense, especially between July and August. It is best to visit parks in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is beautiful for photography and the temperatures are cooler. Many locals observe a “siesta” period, and you will find the parks quietest and most peaceful before 11:00 AM.
2. Pack a Picnic from the Local Markets
One of the greatest joys of visiting Nice is the food. Instead of relying on park kiosks, stop by the Cours Saleya market in the Old Town to pick up fresh socca, olives, cheese, and fruit. Many of the larger parks have designated picnic areas, but bringing a simple blanket is always a good idea for spontaneous stops.
3. Respect the “Pelouse” (Lawn) Rules
Unlike in some northern European countries or the UK, lying on the grass is not always permitted in French parks. Look for signs indicating “Pelouse Interdite” (lawn forbidden) versus “Pelouse Autorisée” (lawn allowed). If the grass is roped off, it is for conservation purposes, and you should stick to the benches or paved areas.
4. Carry Water and Sun Protection
While some parks have shaded trails, many of the most scenic viewpoints are exposed to direct sunlight. Public water fountains are available in some locations, but they are not guaranteed in every garden. Always carry a reusable water bottle and apply high-SPF sunscreen, even on cloudy days.
5. Use Public Transport or Walk
Parking in central Nice can be notoriously difficult and expensive. Most of the city’s best parks are easily accessible via the efficient tramway system or by walking along the Promenade du Paillon. Combining a park visit with a stroll through the city’s historic districts is the best way to avoid traffic stress.
6. Check for Seasonal Events
Many of Nice’s parks host temporary events, from summer jazz concerts to open-air cinema screenings and children’s workshops. Before you go, check the local tourism office website or notice boards at the park entrances. Visiting during a local festival can offer a unique cultural insight but may also mean larger crowds.
As the sun begins to set over the Baie des Anges, the parks of Nice take on a magical quality, bathed in a golden glow that has inspired artists for centuries. Whether you have spent your day hiking up a hill for panoramic views or simply napping under a mimosa tree, these green spaces offer a vital counterbalance to the glamour and pace of the Riviera.
Taking the time to wander through these gardens is not just about sightseeing; it is about participating in a local ritual of leisure and appreciation for nature. So, lace up your walking shoes, grab your sunglasses, and discover the lush, living soul of the French Riviera.
