Right on Barcelona’s waterfront, Maremagnum is a great place to combine shopping, dining, and a walk by the marina. It has a relaxed atmosphere with a mix of fashion stores, cafés, restaurants, and beautiful views of the boats and the Mediterranean. It’s an easy place to spend a couple of hours, especially after exploring the nearby waterfront. The location is one of the best features of this mall. Sitting outside with a drink or a meal while overlooking the marina was a nice break from the busy streets of the city. The shopping center is also close to attractions like the Columbus Monument, the Aquarium, and La Rambla.

I recently visited Centre Comercial Maremagnum during my trip to Barcelona, and it was one of the most enjoyable shopping and leisure experiences in the city. The location is absolutely fantastic, situated right next to the sea and surrounded by beautiful waterfront views. Walking around the shopping center while enjoying the fresh sea breeze creates a very relaxing atmosphere. The mall offers a wide variety of stores, including many well-known international and local brands. There are plenty of opportunities to find good deals and discounts, making it a great place for shopping enthusiasts. Whether you are looking for clothing, accessories, souvenirs, or everyday items, there is something for everyone. Another thing I really liked was the large selection of food and snack options. From quick bites and coffee shops to restaurants with outdoor seating, there are plenty of places where you can sit down, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. After shopping, it is wonderful to take a walk along the waterfront or simply sit near the beach and enjoy the view of the sea and boats passing by.The shopping center is clean well-maintained, and easy to navigate. The combination of shopping, dining, entertainment, and stunning seaside scenery makes Maremagnum much more than just a mall. I would definitely recommend Centre Comercial Maremagnum to anyone visiting Barcelona. It is the perfect spot to shop, eat, relax, and enjoy some of the best waterfront views in the city.

Came here more for the Time Out Market on the top floor, as I went to the one in Portugal. Wasn't as busy, so plenty of places to sit, even outside on the balcony overseeing the views of Barcelona. Some good choices for eatery so plenty to choose from. Just don't take too long to decide. There wasn't much stalls for dessert just to let you know, if you want something sweet.

Maremagnum is a large shopping and leisure complex located right by Barcelona’s waterfront in Port Vell. It’s known for its seaside setting, variety of shops and restaurants, and scenic views of the harbor. It was raining heavily when I visited, so staying in the mall turned out to be the perfect choice. The place is huge, with plenty of options for shopping and dining, making it easy to spend a few hours there. The port area just outside is also really beautiful – especially at night. The waterfront views and reflections make for amazing photos.

What a great place at the seaside of Barcelona, close to the huge and wonderfull aquarium. A bus stop in front of the door, easy connection to the metro and city. Lower floors have a shopping mall with many stores, topfloor is the TimeOut restaurant with dozens of different small (and huge) restaurants and bars. Lots of seats and tables, lots of types of food to chose from from simple tapas to sushi and exquisite meat. Prices vary from cheap to expensive. And one can even rent cellphone charges if needed. Nice outside with view of the harbour. Great place to wine and dine as well spent many hours just to enjoy the sights, food an drinks.

Arenas de Barcelona is a shopping center that, in my personal experience, feels quite average overall. From the outside, the building looks really impressive and massive, so I expected something more special inside, but once you go in, the variety of shops is actually quite limited compared to other malls in the city. That said, the most memorable part of the visit is definitely the rooftop. I really enjoyed going up there because it offers a great panoramic view of Barcelona, and it feels much more interesting than the shopping experience itself. It’s a nice spot just to relax for a while and look over the city. Overall, I would say it’s worth visiting mainly for the rooftop view, rather than for shopping.
Mohammad Diab★★★★☆
I visited Arenas de Barcelona and spent a few hours there before my flight. The building itself has an interesting history, as it was originally a bullring before being converted into a shopping mall. Once you’re inside, however, it feels like a modern mall, and there is very little that reminds you of its original purpose. The mall has several levels, although each floor is relatively compact. You’ll find a mix of fashion stores, sunglasses shops, technology retailers, and other everyday services, along with cafés, restaurants, public restrooms, and parking. One of the highlights is the rooftop terrace, which offers wide views across Barcelona. You can see both the mountains and the sea in the distance, and the Sagrada Família is also visible from the rooftop. There are a few viewing telescopes available if you want a closer look at the city. Overall, I wouldn’t consider it a destination mall, but if you are already in the area, it’s a good place to spend an hour or two, have a meal or coffee, and enjoy the views from the rooftop.
Zeeshan Zuberi★★★★★
Lovely 360 degree views of the city from the top. We just stopped by on our way to the hotel on the last day after a tiring day out. It was quick to get to the top floor and we were back on our way in 20 minutes. There were quite many dining places on the top floor but it was a bit early for dinner.
Izzy Van★★★★☆
Arenas de Barcelona It’s a mall located in what used to be a bullring, and I really like the design. It has a rooftop terrace with a viewpoint looking out toward the MNAC, the National Art Museum of Catalonia. If you’re here around the right time, you can also see the Magic Fountain show from this spot. It’s worth visiting and I recommend it for that reason, but I wouldn’t say it’s a mall with big-name stores. I wouldn’t go here to shop. Instead, I’d go for dinner at one of the restaurants on the terrace and just enjoy the view.
Robert Roberts★★★★★
Beautiful mall with such a unique design. This mall is in a round building that has a rooftop with 360 degree views of the city. There are so many options for shopping and also for dining. The one thing that I was taken aback by was paying for the restrooms. They are 1 euro to enter the restrooms however if you make a purchase at a store, you can ask for a QR code to scan to enter the restrooms without paying. Great place to visit while in Barcelona.

If there is one place in Barcelona that completely lives up to the hype, it’s La Boqueria. The moment you step inside, you’re hit with an explosion of colors, aromas, and energy. Fresh seafood, hanging jamón ibérico, vibrant fruits, local cheeses, fresh juices, and countless Catalan specialties are packed into every corner. It feels less like a market and more like a celebration of food. The market has been a centerpiece of Barcelona for generations and remains one of the city’s most iconic culinary destinations. What I loved most was the atmosphere. Watching vendors expertly prepare seafood, slice jamón, and interact with customers makes the experience feel authentic and alive. Whether you’re grabbing a quick fresh fruit juice, sitting down for tapas, or simply wandering through the aisles, there’s always something interesting to see. Yes, it’s busy and definitely attracts plenty of tourists, but that’s because it’s genuinely worth visiting. Behind the crowds, you’ll still find incredible ingredients, passionate vendors, and a market culture that has been part of Barcelona for centuries. A must-visit for anyone traveling to Barcelona. Come hungry, take your time, and be ready to experience one of the most famous food markets in the world.
Brittany G★★★★★
So many fun food and food souvenir options! Loved getting to try local foods, so many meats, fruits, candy, olives, seafood. It’s very busy inside and crowed, multiple shop owners said to watch our purses so just be mindful, but I felt safe.
Ming★★★★★
I enjoyed this market a lot. They have many amazing food stalls, fruit stands, ham stands and dry food stands. The vibe in here is absolutely incredible. Comparing with the other market, the smell in here is way more acceptable.
Alaleh - FoodyTO★★★★☆
Visiting this market is one of the best ways to experience Barcelona’s food culture. Just off La Rambla, this historic market is filled with colorful stalls selling fresh fruit, seafood, cured meats, cheeses, pastries, spices, chocolates, and local specialties. The atmosphere is lively and the energetic. We really enjoyed wandering through the market and sampling different foods while watching the local vendors at work. There are also several small restaurants and counter-style eateries where you can enjoy freshly prepared seafood, tapas, and traditional Catalan dishes. If you want a quieter experience, it’s worth arriving earlier in the day before the crowds build up.
google account★★★★★
La Boqueria Market is one of the most enjoyable places to visit in Barcelona if you love food. The market is full of colorful displays of fresh fruit, cheese, jamón, seafood, and many other local products, creating a lively and very photogenic atmosphere. One of the best things for visitors is that many foods are sold in small, ready-to-eat portions. This makes it easy to try several different things without having to buy large quantities. Fresh fruit cups, sliced ham, cheese, and seafood snacks are especially convenient while walking around. It is definitely touristy and can get crowded, but that is also part of the energy of the place. If you want to sample a wide variety of Spanish and Catalan foods in one stop, La Boqueria is very easy to recommend.

The last time I came to Barcelona. El Corte Inglés at Plaça de Catalunya was not open for a few days due to a major holiday. I finally shopped here today. Wow! I love this department store. It has 10 or more levels (including the supermarket and food court in the basement). I lost count of how many levels it really has. Lol! The store has everything you need for you, your family, your pets, and your house. It is truly one-stop shopping. I wish we had a store like this in California.
Maya Maya Official★★★★☆
My experience in the store was very similar to my experience at Macy's flagship store in New York city, great! With a notch up because more merchandise in the fragrances than Macy's , the food floor great, a lot gourmet, delicious food. Designers all what you want and more. Super fun !!! To shop, went there three days during my travel .
Sergei Nossoff★★★★★
El Corte Inglés Plaça de Catalunya is truly a one-stop destination where you can find everything under one roof. From the latest kids’ toys and gifts to cutting-edge high-end electronics, premium home design items, fashion, cosmetics, and gourmet food — this place delivers on every level. The selection is vast yet well-curated, making it easy to move from shopping for family essentials to browsing luxury brands without feeling overwhelmed. Add to that the central location, excellent layout, and consistently professional service, and you get a shopping experience that’s both efficient and enjoyable. If you need one place in Barcelona that genuinely has it all, this is it.
Elie Ifrah★★★★★
El Corte Inglés Plaça de Catalunya is definitely worth visiting if you are in central Barcelona. Its location is probably one of its biggest advantages, right on Plaça de Catalunya and within walking distance of many of the city's main attractions and shopping streets. The department store is huge and offers an impressive variety of products across multiple floors. You can find clothing, shoes, accessories, cosmetics, perfumes, electronics, home products, food, souvenirs, and many well-known international and Spanish brands. It is particularly convenient when you want to do different types of shopping without having to visit several separate stores. Despite the size of the building and the number of people visiting, I found the store well organized and relatively easy to navigate. The staff I interacted with were professional and helpful when I needed assistance. Another advantage is that you can spend quite a lot of time here, especially if you enjoy browsing different departments. The location also makes it easy to stop by during a day of sightseeing without making a special trip. Overall, I had a very good experience at El Corte Inglés Plaça de Catalunya. It combines an excellent central location, a huge selection of products, recognized brands, and convenient shopping all in one place. I would recommend it both for serious shopping and simply for browsing while visiting Barcelona.
Damla Guray★★★★☆
Escribo sobre mi experiencia con la recogida en tienda. From the online page of the store was very practical and the process moved very quickly. When I went for in-store pickup, unfortunately, one of the 4 items was not ready, and since I had to return by ship on the same day, I wanted to cancel it. A black-haired lady who speaks English brushed me off quickly and left after saying something like ‘You can cancel it yourself when you see it's ready online." However, I was not satisfied with this answer and when I explained my situation and asked again to a very sweet lady named Mariona there, she completed the cancellation process in less than 5 minutes, gave me the document of the cancellation and processed it immediately. I thank her very much for respecting her work and helping me there🙏 Tax free area is on deck 9. Don’t forget to see the beauty of Barcelona from El corte Ingles..

It’s truly great. You can see a lot of pigeons playing with children and landing on them, as well as a man feeding them, which makes everything even more interesting. There are huge sculptures at the entrance and next to the fountain, and a lot of greenery that creates an even nicer atmosphere. It’s worth a visit, although I don’t think you can really spend more than half an hour here, as there isn’t an overwhelming amount to see.

Set in a stunning 19th-century industrial building, El Nacional offers a unique "gastronomic cathedral" experience. It is perfect for those who want to choose between multiple specialized bars under one roof, ranging from a dedicated oyster bar to a cozy cocktail lounge. • Features four distinct bars specializing in beer, wine, oysters, and cocktails. • Known for its magnificent high ceilings and modernist industrial décor. • Reviewers highly recommend the signature Apple Mojito for a refreshing choice.

Horrible place. The owner has anger issues. She screamed at my child for using the bathroom, which has a visible sign of being a bathroom from the outside. She threw the book I purchased at me and gave the nastiest look to my child. She should remove the restroom sign and lock the door if she doesn’t want people to go in. What an odd experience. Also, everything in the store is from Ali express, cheaply made and super expensive.

A very nice store with a lot of beautiful unique handmade items. I bought one postcard and three pair of socks during my first visit. Unfortunately, my second visit wasn’t good. I highly recommended this place to my friend and wanted to show her the store. The consultant didn’t like that we stopped looking at items and started chatting in the store. She asked us to leave the store. However, the store was empty, so we didn’t bother other customers. Also, on our question, if we’re too loud, she answered no. We didn’t understand what was the problem. We looked at the items, stopped to talk. After that we planned to continue looking at them because my friend was interested in buying postcards. I would understood if we were too loud or didn’t let other customers to look at the items and buy them. But it wasn’t our case. I don’t know if I want to visit this store again.

Bought a postcard here, because I thought it will be "rarer" than the ones I could buy on the street for example, even though I liked them more. At least the price is comparable (1.5€). Seems like a progressive shop based on what they offer 🙂

AVOID AT ALL COST!!! PLEASE READ!! We came as the result of google/chatgpt searches. with 4.9 as the review, we thought for sure we would have a good experience. Little did we know, we fell right into the trap that was carefully planned. First, the owner acted all friendly to chat us up as if to make sure we were tourists. Then a whole wall of souvenirs are marked as 20% off incentivizing purchase (pricing gimmick), finally, after we selected a bunch of items to purchase, the owner became a brick wall, absolutely firm on the price and no room to negotiate. He would cite that the items are already discounted, and the prices are already very low. We were tired after a long day and didn’t want to discard all our efforts for picking out the items, so we bought them. The next day, we saw random small gift shops in the gothic quarter that carried the exact same items we bought and were shocked that many were 30-50% cheaper with more room to negotiate as the owners would offer you a better price as you walked out, on just 1 item. Imagine if we bought everything at one of these less well known but willing to work with you shops. I woulda saved 30-50 EURs. PLEASE AVOID!!!!! BUSINESS HERE ARE BUILT ON GOOGLE REVIEWS TO MAKE THAT MUCH MORE FROM YOU!

we stopped in a couple of times to get different souvenirs and the gentleman was the first friendly person in town who was happy to help us find what we were looking for unlike most other people in town ( that’s why we went back a couple more times) His shop is very clean, lots of beautiful items to remember our trip and great prices … again, unlike all the other stores. We highly recommend him and his store and he speaks very good english so it was easy to tell him what we were looking for . Go stop by and check him out, you won’t regret it.

I went inside today after seeing this place open the evening before and noticed baseball caps for sale. I decided since I was in Barcelona I wanted a cap to take home. This shop is small and has a wonderful selection of caps, tees and other clothing. Not to mention the usual fridge magnets and gifts. I bought a lovely green cap. This shop was safer than the street venders and the shop owner friendly and helpful offering no preasure for me to browse. After deciding what I wanted I went to the till to pay and he even helped me get rid of unwanted euro coins. I would go back again and recommend this place to anyone.

Large store, three floors split by section: women, men, kids. Easy to navigate. The staff were genuinely helpful. I was shopping for my wife remotely — she sent a photo of what she wanted, I showed it to an employee, and she found the exact item. Last one in stock. When checkout had a line, they opened a new register just to speed things up. Efficient, friendly, no hassle. Would recommend.

30 min wait for the fitting room, while they have more fitting rooms on the 2nd floor but choose not to open them on a sunday

Describe it in one word ( rude) i already not a fan of zara and i gave it a chance here to face rudeness and disrespect of the staff to put big X on the place.. i wish i have read the reviews before going in
Mr Avnet★☆☆☆☆
Stopping in and charging your phone while your friend is shopping isn't the case at this store. I haven't had this problem at any other store on this street. It's only at the crappy Zara.

Very rude staff. Maybe they are friendlier towards spanish people than to tourists. A man asked me if the jackets were ours and we Said that we were trying different sizes so yes. He just took the jackets and said that the jeackets should not be here. I don’t know if the staff is unhappy about their job or if you had a bad day. Either what you should not be rude to costumers. Unfortunaltly I don’t think Zara cares at all about costumer service!

While the Zara on Passeig de Gràcia spans multiple floors, it is arguably eclipsed by other flagship locations within the city. Despite its prime location, the inventory feels surprisingly curated, and the overall layout can occasionally feel lacking in organizational cohesion. The store experience is fundamentally utilitarian and reliable for a quick fix, but it lacks the "wow factor" and depth of selection found at the Plaça de Catalunya branch. It’s a functional stop if you happen to be on this specific block, but for a more comprehensive and memorable shopping journey, you might find better luck exploring their larger Catalan counterparts nearby.
Paul Parent★★★★★
Located right on Plaça Catalunya, Zara is one of the most impressive fashion stores in Barcelona and easily one of the brand’s flagship locations in Europe. Spread across multiple spacious floors inside a beautifully restored historic building, the store combines modern fashion retail with elegant architecture, creating a shopping experience that feels far more upscale than a typical fast-fashion outlet. The selection is extensive, covering women’s, men’s, and accessories collections with the latest seasonal trends displayed in a bright, stylish environment. Visitors often praise the store’s layout, atmosphere, and the sheer variety available, especially compared to smaller Zara branches found elsewhere. Its central location makes it a convenient stop while exploring Barcelona, only steps away from major shopping streets and public transport. The fitting rooms and checkout areas can become quite busy during peak tourist hours, but the store remains well organized considering the heavy foot traffic. For travelers and fashion lovers alike, Zara Plaça Catalunya is more than just a clothing store — it is a landmark shopping destination that reflects Barcelona’s energetic urban style and contemporary design culture.

The consultants such an ignorant people. I am Asian. I asked my size in the fitting room, consultants give anyone their sizes but I waited 30 minutes or so and didn’t take my size. And then the security guard. I payed by automate but it didn’t give me receipt. Even I showed him check from my card, he didn’t allow me to go. Bad bad service. Don’t go to this particular store.

Absolutely horrible experience. Their self-pay machines don’t work properly. We paid for out clothes (and have the bank transaction to prove it), yet the exit alarm still went off because of their faulty system. Instead of handling the situation professionally, an older bald security guard treated my mother who has high blood pressure like she was a thief. The stress caused her blood pressure to spike and she started having chest pain. Only after we showed proof from our bank account did they realize the problem was their own system. If your technology is failing, don’t humiliate paying customers. Fix your parking system and train your security staff to treat people with respect. No one deserves to be treated this way because of your mistakes.

I've been to this store many times! Today, the clerk in the fitting room was extremely rude!! I don't know why she had such a stern face! We went to the fitting room twice today! This older clerk with glasses only said "Wait a moment"... The first time, I felt she was very reluctant! (She looked very serious! And spoke very curtly!) The second time, my mother and I went to the fitting room together. My mother wanted to try on several clothes, so I waited for her outside. At this time, the clerk who was hanging up the clothes said loudly, "Only one person can go in at a time." I said, "I just want to see how my mother looks in them." Besides, we usually go in together when we queue to try on clothes. The young girls in charge of the fitting rooms are very polite. I don't know what's wrong with this older clerk? This is really too much, it feels like discrimination. I was a little angry at the time and wanted to complain about her, but her attitude was just too bad. Sigh! When I was unhappy! She kept responding loudly! Very impolite! Unbearable! Her attitude was also so unprofessional!

Love the store, it has a lot of special, one time pieces. Also love that all of it is handmade and mad by local artists! If you are looking for a special souvenir or gift this is the place! ❤️

I came across this store in the evening and a very nice woman from Argentina helped me! I bought a print and plan to buy more to ship to Canada. This store is so cute with unique items designed by local artists. Perfect for souvenirs! Thank you to the nice woman that helped me!

I fell in love with this store. It's not your typical souvenir shop. Each item in this store is a work of art. Everything in this shop is elegantly designed. The prices of their products are a bit high, but even if you don't want to buy anything, I highly recommend you to visit here.

This is the place to get the perfect shoes. I wish I knew this before. The only place that really felt authentic during my stay in Barcelona. Very kind the girl helping me even showed me how to properly lace up the shoes. I hope I remember it correctly! You can even see how they make them in the back of the store. Good prices too! Highly recommend ❤️

The lady who was there today seemed generally inconvenienced and unhappy to help customers. She was rushing customers along, unwilling to bring out different sizes, kept telling us it would ‘stretch’ even though our toes were clearly uncomfortably hitting the end of the shoe, frequent comments of “you want or not?” Generally an unpleasant and rushed experience, and felt really uncomfortable to ask for any help. The pluses were watching the hardworking lady in the back making the shoes by hand.
Jas★☆☆☆☆
Unsure if the lady was just rude to everyone or if she was treating us differently. I asked to try on a size, and she brought it over. When I told her it was too small, she asked me to stand up and try to fit into it anyway, even though it was obvious it wasn’t going to fit. She looked visibly annoyed, grumbled under her breath, and made me feel so unwelcome that I didn’t even feel comfortable asking to try the next size. Needless to say, we walked out without buying anything.

I found a perfect pair of shoes here. The staff was kind enough to assist me in Japanese, which made me really happy. I can’t wait to wear them this summer. Gracias!

My friend gifted me a pair of these shoes for my birthday. They are so comfortable I had to come to Barcelona to get more. Everyone in our group ended up purchasing a pair after feeling how comfortable they are. The employees were so helpful and kind. What an incredible thing to witness your shoes being made right in front of you!

Essential Tips for Shopping in Barcelona

To make the most of your time and money, it helps to understand the local retail culture and rhythm. Barcelona is a city with its own unique schedule and customs, and a little preparation can greatly enhance your experience. These tips will help you navigate the city’s shopping scene like a local, ensuring a smooth and rewarding day out.

Plan around the siesta and Sundays. Many smaller, independent shops in Barcelona close for a few hours in the afternoon, typically from 2:00 PM to 4:00 or 5:00 PM. While large department stores and international chains on major avenues often stay open, do not be surprised to find a charming boutique shuttered in the mid-afternoon. Furthermore, almost all shops are closed on Sundays, with the exception of those in designated tourist zones like the area around the Port Vell (Maremagnum). Always check opening hours in advance to avoid disappointment.

Embrace the late shopping hours. The city’s retail schedule shifts later in the day. Most shops reopen in the late afternoon and stay open until 8:30 PM or 9:00 PM. This is the perfect time to shop, as the streets come alive with locals taking their evening passeig (stroll). The atmosphere is vibrant, and the cooler evening temperatures make for a much more comfortable experience than the midday heat, especially during the summer months.

Understand the tax-free shopping system. If you are a non-EU resident, you are entitled to a refund on the VAT (Value Added Tax, or IVA) for purchases over a certain amount (usually around €90) from a single store on the same day. Look for shops displaying a “Tax Free” sign. You will need to ask for a tax-free form with your purchase and have it validated at the airport before you depart. This can result in significant savings on larger purchases, so it is well worth the extra few minutes of paperwork.

Venture beyond the main drags. While the famous streets are famous for a reason, some of the best shopping experiences are found on the side streets that branch off them. The narrow lanes of the Gothic Quarter and El Born are filled with independent designers, artisan workshops, and concept stores that you will not find anywhere else in the world. Allow yourself time to wander without a fixed destination; getting a little lost is often the best way to discover a truly unique souvenir or gift.

Wear comfortable shoes and be mindful of your belongings. You will be doing a lot of walking, so comfortable footwear is non-negotiable. The city’s beautiful but often uneven pavement can be tough on your feet. Equally important is to stay aware of your surroundings, as popular shopping areas are also prime locations for pickpockets. Keep your wallet in a front pocket, keep your handbag closed and in front of you, and avoid placing your phone or valuables on a café table where they can be easily snatched.

Learn a few basic Catalan or Spanish phrases. While many shop assistants in central areas speak English, making an effort to communicate in the local language is always appreciated. A simple hola (hello), gràcies (thank you in Catalan) or gracias (thank you in Spanish), and adeu (goodbye in Catalan) can go a long way in creating a friendly interaction. It shows respect for the local culture and often leads to warmer, more personalized service.

The true joy of shopping in Barcelona lies in the experience itself. It is about the conversations with shopkeepers, the discovery of a hidden atelier, and the beauty of the streets you walk along. By slowing down and savoring the process, you will not only find great items but also create lasting memories of your time in this dynamic city.

So, put on your most comfortable shoes, grab a reusable shopping bag, and set out to explore the diverse retail landscape that Barcelona has to offer. Whether you return with a designer handbag or a handcrafted ceramic bowl, the stories behind your purchases will be the most valuable souvenirs of all.
