15 Best Steakhouses in Paris

Paris may be synonymous with buttery croissants and Michelin-starred tasting menus, but the city has also undergone a carnivorous revolution. While traditional French cuisine often relegated beef to a supporting role in boeuf bourguignon or steak frites, a new wave of dedicated grill rooms and chophouses has taken over the capital.

Today, Paris rivals London and New York as a destination for dry-aged cuts, Wagyu imports, and open-fire cooking. For the discerning traveler, seeking out the best steak in Paris is no longer a hunt for a simple bistro plate; it is an exploration of terroir and technique.

The modern Parisian steakhouse blends the reverence of French butchery with international influences, ranging from American-style wood-fired grills to Japanese precision. Whether you are looking for a massive Tomahawk to share or a perfectly seared filet, the options are vast and varied.

Navigating the city’s dining scene can be overwhelming, especially when you are craving a specific standard of beef. Many restaurants claim to serve prime cuts, but only a select few have mastered the aging process and the art of the flame. We have curated a list that cuts through the noise, focusing on establishments that source exceptional livestock and treat it with the respect it deserves.

This guide prioritizes quality, consistency, and atmosphere. You will find a mix of old-school Parisian institutions where waiters move with ballet-like precision, alongside trendy neo-bistros where the grill is the centerpiece of the room. Regardless of your budget or preferred style of service, there is a table in Paris waiting to serve you a memorable cut of beef.

From the historic lanes of Saint-Germain-des-Prés to the bustling avenues near the Champs-Élysées, the geography of steak in Paris is diverse. We have considered not only the marbling of the meat but also the wine lists, side dishes, and the overall dining experience. After all, a great steak is rarely enjoyed alone; it requires the perfect sauce, the right glass of Bordeaux, and an ambiance that invites you to linger.

Below is our definitive selection of the establishments that are currently setting the standard for red meat in the French capital. These are not just places to eat; they are destinations for those who understand that a truly great steak is a culinary event.

Delicious. The escargot was divine. The frog legs were cooked perfectly. The steak was exquisite and the accompanying sauces were surprising. I have never liked blue cheese and the blue cheese sauce was my favorite!! I need that recipe. The tarte tatin was the perfect end to the meal!

Beautiful experience. Small restaurant and i believe one would usually need to make a reservation, yet we had the fortune of getting a table without one. The waiter seemed stressed, but remained professional and kind; we even had a chat with him after our dinner. The food was amazing, the whole process or preparation seemed very high in quality. We ordered froglegs, steak for 2 and a crème brûlée. Water, bread and butter was on the house. In total we payed 101€. This is a lot of money, yet in our opinion it was totally worth it!
Lorraine Garvie★★★★★
Really great experience - food incredible - service brilliant - reasonable price for steak and wine pricing is best I've seen in Paris. Book by email 2 weeks in advance - easy getting a table but it's a small restaurant so you may be disappointed if you just turn up. Chat GPT recommended Sacre Fleur and a chef that I know and they were both spot on thank you. Bear in mind it's June and it's hot. The restaurant is small - with some fans. Don't overdress!

What an absolute gem of a restaurant. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this is a genuinely French restaurant, not one that simply borrows French names or dishes. The atmosphere, the attention to detail, the quality of the ingredients, and the execution of every plate reflected true French hospitality and culinary tradition. The food was outstanding from start to finish. Every dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and made with obvious care and expertise. The quality of the ingredients really shines through, particularly the meat, which was cooked to perfection and among the best I have tasted in a long time. It is increasingly rare to find a restaurant that combines authenticity, consistency, and such high standards while still offering excellent value for money. What made the experience even more memorable was the service. Kendel and Silvan were absolutely exceptional in every aspect. Professional, attentive, knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely passionate about ensuring guests have a wonderful experience. They struck the perfect balance between being attentive without ever being intrusive, making us feel welcomed and valued throughout the entire meal. Customer service of this standard is difficult to find. Every interaction was handled with genuine care, professionalism, and a smile. It is clear that they take great pride in what they do, and it elevated an already excellent dining experience into something truly special. If you are looking for authentic French cuisine, outstanding quality, perfectly cooked meat, reasonable prices, and some of the best service you could hope to receive, this restaurant deserves to be at the very top of your list. A huge thank you to Kendel and Silvan for making our visit so memorable. We will definitely be returning and recommending this place to everyone we know.

What a hidden gem! Tiny restaurant, reservation is a must, but WOW. The food was incredible, frogs legs, French onion soup, salmon and duck. Everything was amazing. The service was superb, the waiters are so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble even with my very rusty French! A truly excellent meal, would highly reccomend!

If you're looking for an unforgettable gastronomic experience in Paris, Le Maison D' Aubrac is an absolute must. The meat is simply extraordinary—so tender it literally melts in your mouth. It's the kind of food that brings out your primal instincts, making you want to savor every last bite straight from the bone. Every dish was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. A special thank you to Mael, the sommelier, whose knowledge, passion, and warm personality made choosing the perfect wine a real pleasure. His recommendations elevated the entire meal. Our waiter, Pierre, was equally fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, he guided us through the menu, suggested excellent drinks, and convinced us to end the evening with a delicious dessert that we would have regretted missing. Exceptional food, outstanding service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Without a doubt, one of the best meals we've had in Paris. We can't wait to come back!

We had an amazing experience at this restaurant in the heart of Paris! The hamburger, carpaccio, onion soup was absolutely delicious and unlike anything we’ve had before. The fries were perfectly crispy and full of flavor, and the desserts were simply outstanding. On top of the fantastic food, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. We truly enjoyed every moment and would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Paris. We will definitely come back!

Family-owned steakhouse with a rich history. Very good selection of quality meats with excellent price to value. Highly recommend making a reservation online. Highlight was the service! Massi was fantastic and looked after us the entire evening. Thanks for a great evening!

What a wonderful dining experience. We are from America/ NYC area and the service in Paris is much different than what we’re used to. At Maison De L’Aubrac, though, we felt much more at home. We were greeted so kindly and accommodated immediately even though we were very early for our reservation. We were able to order only drinks at first and still go over the menu. The server, Lucien, was constantly checking on us. He was absolutely wonderful. This was by far the best meal experience we had. The French onion soup and the French toast dessert were our favorite parts!
HA R★★★★☆
We specifically came here as it was well reviewed on Google. I would discourage that. It's solid, Serviceable and I'm happy we went, but this is nothing special. Essentially a french diner. They seem to pride themselves on their meat. We had the steak. It was ok, but nothing memorable. Don't regret going, but won't be returning unless I'm in the neighborhood and need an option in short notice. If I could I'd give this place 3.5 stars.

A cozy steak and wine spot typical of the 3rd arr. Focused menu, great wine list, and friendly staff. I didn’t really get much of the marrow in the marrow + tartare. I think next time I’ll get them separately instead.! My medium rare ribeye definitely turned out on the rarer side of things! I was recommended the Pinot and it was powerful and elegant. Went well with the steak. €63 for bone marrow and tartare, 250g ribeye steak frites, a glass of red, and cognac.

We sat on a small high table nestled in the front by the window. It was a great spot and we got a good in - out vibe with plenty of activity outside on a very hot evening. Its hip and cool and the food is very, very good. Beef tartare with bone marrow was outstanding. The depth that the marrow contributed to the dish! Both the Filet and Sirloin were tasty, cooked perfectly and came with the most addictive skinny fries you could imagine. The young staff are all pretty laid back and make sure that everyone is having a good time. Keep up the good work.

This is a good spot for enjoying some delicious good quality steaks. The friendly staff and lively atmosphere make it a great place to dine. A reservation is recommended.

This place blew me away. A completely random find on a Saturday night for an early dinner. Small, but with a big atmosphere. We ordered the shared 1.1kg Tomahawk steak with mashed potatoes and fries. The steak for two came and made my weekend. Surprisingly, we nearly ate all of it, but that was through sheer will because we didn’t want to waste a single morsel. My medium-rare steak came out slightly rarer than I expected, but when the steak is over 30mm thick and we’re in Paris, that’s my fault, not theirs. That said, every second of it was a delight. It simply melted in the mouth. The fries were thin, skin-on and crispy, and the mash… well, I didn’t get to try it because my lovely wife licked the bowl clean. What a find this place is. On the hottest weekend of the year so far, braving the heat was worth every second. Well done to the owners and staff at this restaurant. They were welcoming, friendly and clearly take pride in what they do. We need more places like this, but while we wait for others to catch up, I wholeheartedly recommend Loco.

Perfect experience: the food, the service, and the ambiance. We ordered rumsteck to be shared and the waiter offered kindly to cook my parts of the meat to be a point (medium). Excellent attention to details. I recommend! Their empanadas are sooo good too

Booked for a table of two at 9:30pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was busy and had a friendly atmosphere but it was still quiet enough to have a good conversation. All members of the wait staff were very very friendly, and both spoke great English and were happy to converse in English. Onto the food, it was absolutely perfect from starters to dessert. The tapas sharing board comes with everything you could possibly want from the starter menu, and is perfect to share for two. The steaks are incredible, arriving exactly as requested and with some excellent fries (and sweet potato as an optional extra). Finally, the dessert was the perfect way to end off the meal, rich but not too filling after a rather large meal. We were also gifted two shots of a whiskey-like liquor which were pleasant to chase the meal down with. All in all, a perfect dinner experience. Would give 6 stars if I could.
Vanessa★★★★☆
starters were amazing - especially the bone marrow with steak tartare ! but honestly the steak was ok, could be more tender
Carlie Iskandar★★★★★
Meat lover approved! The tomahawk had the perfect amount of fat and was perfectly cooked. The filet was not as impressive as the tomahawk (obviously). The croquettas are not to miss! Empanadas not as much. The waiters were so nice, they took the time to explain the menu as well as their wine list. I’m definitely going back, and I’ll be bringing my father with me, the biggest meat critic.

A classy, chill and rustic joint at the same time. Not pompous. Well kept. I walked in around 8 pm. They sat me and communicated clearly that they had a 9 ish reservation. The salad was nice and refreshing. With a tiny bit of mint, crunchy and a fresh vinaigrette. The fries were fire 🔥 though: well done. And the steak cooked to perfection. Loved the salt 🧂+ pepper + rosemary mix on the side. In Paris, with you, mon/ma chère 😘💕.

Easily the best meal I've ever had in Paris and top five of my favorite restaurants in the world. I've been very thankful to travel the world and eat at many nice Michelin starred places. They don't hold a candle to the food coming out of this restaurant. No fancy plating or highly technical preparation methods. Just good, honest cooking that feels comforting but also complex, flavorful, and well executed. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Eat here. You won't regret it. My only regret is all of the missed opportunities I could've ate here and didn't. I won't be making that mistake anymore. It will always be on my list of places to eat when I come to Paris.
Tara Friesen★★★★★
Absolutely the best meal we ate in Paris - our only regret is we didn’t eat here on our first night so we could come back again! I ordered the sirloin and my parents ordered the prime rib. Both meals were presented beautifully with a delicious starter salad. The pepper sauce accompanying the steak is incredible and the fries are cooked perfectly. This will become a highly recommended spot for all our friends and family when they visit Paris! Don’t keep searching, stop and make your reservation now.
Alison Tiao★★★★★
Great portions, fast service. Be prepared to feel a little warm, but the food was so yummy! I had the chateaubriand, which was extremely tender and perfectly cooked. The staff is very kind and lets us hang around and sip our wine. I did also order the foie gras, which was delicious, but a little heavy paired with the beef dishes. Would recommend ordering a chicken or something less fatty if that bothers you.
zeynep baz★★★★★
This place is on my list for a longtime and it didnt disappoint!!! The meat was so tender almost like a butter and so flavourful. And the souce was also amazing. I’m actually not a great fan of sweet potatoes however with the souce it was also perfection. And the Salad is the cherry on the top.My only suggestion is please serve the glass wines cold other than that definitely recommend and coming again!!!

A great restaurant with great meat! The dishes are generous, the meat is tender and the service is excellent. I recommend this place if you're in the mood for meat. We took the Lokum, the entrecôte and the cote de boeuf with the tartare de saumon and boeuf fumé cheddar as entrées (the tartare was super good).

The place was very elegant and had a lovely atmosphere. I ordered a new york steak, and it was absolutely delicious. I also had two side dishes mushrooms and fries and they were both really good. Special thanks to mr Sami, who was very friendly. Overall, it was a great experience!

A very, very high-level place, extremely delicious food, we ordered steaks that come with 2 side dishes at the end of the meal, tea or coffee on the house, and excellent desserts It's worth coming to eat at this restaurant

One of our favorite restaurant experiences of our trip to Paris. Incredibly authentic French restaurant with open fire cooking. It’s like a French steakhouse where meat is perfectly cooked right there before your eyes. Small and very cozy. Incredible service. No attitude. It’s like eating in someone’s home right in the middle of the Marais. Everyone was happy with their food. I had a fabulous cheese plate and great omelette. Meat eaters were ecstatic with their choices. Enjoyed drink menu and discovered yellow Chartreuse. Highly recommended if you want to try something herbal and very Ftench.
Roberta Muir★★★★★
At this wonderfully casual bistro in the bohemian Marais district, meat is cut off a large chunk in the open kitchen and cooked on a metal plate over the fireplace. ‘Fresh sausages’ arrive as just that: two thin sausages hot off the grill, the only garnish a smudge of grease; salt and mustard are on the table. Rustic terrine, buttery escargot, and andouillette are similarly unadorned. Dishes like delicious mushroom omelettes keep non-carnivores like me happy, while my meat loving family adored the rest.
carboen69★★★★★
We went back to Robert et Louise for the second time. Located in the heart of the Marais, it’s a place with a truly authentic and welcoming atmosphere. We had dinner consisting of entrecôte and a charcuterie board, both excellent and nicely accompanied by vegetables and potatoes, all very well prepared. The cooking area is truly unique and characteristic, with a traditional BBQ over the embers, where the chefs demonstrate their skill in getting the meat cooked to perfection. The service is genuinely friendly, attentive and well looked after, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Well done! I’ll definitely come back the next time we’re in Paris!
C. Mun★★★★☆
If you like your steak rare, this is the place for you for a value meal for a kg of rib for 70 euros that comes with potatoes and salad. The salad dressing is very tasty. The potatoes are good if they’re crispy but not all were crispy. The meat had a lot of very tough areas but overall fine. We like our meat medium rare so they took it back and cooked it just a bit more. It’s served with mustard and salt. My initial thought was 3 stars but understand that this is a value establishment. Many people really enjoy this place.
James Earl★★★★★
If you’re looking for one of the most authentic French steak experiences in Paris, Robert et Louise in Le Marais is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the warm aroma of wood-fire grilling and the cozy charm of an old Parisian bistro. Watching the chefs cook the steaks over an open fireplace is an experience in itself and sets the stage for an unforgettable meal. The star of the experience was the entrecôte. Perfectly cooked, beautifully charred on the outside, and incredibly tender and juicy inside, every bite was packed with rich, smoky flavor that only a real wood fire can create. The quality of the beef truly shines, needing little more than a sprinkle of salt to highlight its natural taste. The accompanying sautéed potatoes were crispy, buttery, and the perfect complement to the steak. The rustic atmosphere, exposed wooden beams, communal tables, and friendly service make you feel like you’ve stepped into old-world Paris. It isn’t a flashy restaurant, and that’s exactly what makes it special. It’s focused on exceptional food, tradition, and genuine hospitality. If you’re visiting Le Marais and love steak, don’t miss the entrecôte at Robert et Louise. It’s easily one of the best steaks I’ve had in Paris and a meal I’ll remember long after my trip. I can’t wait to come back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chez Sophia was one of our favorite meals in Paris. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We started with a trio of hummus served with bread and crispy chips. Each hummus had its own unique flavor and was excellent. We also enjoyed a large blonde beer and a complimentary carafe d’eau, which was a nice touch. For the main course, we both had the beef filet with fries, salad, and the restaurant’s secret herb sauce. The beef was incredibly tender and perfectly cooked. The herb sauce was outstanding and paired beautifully with the meat. The fries were crispy and flavorful, and the salad came with a delicious homemade dressing that really completed the meal. EUR 66.- The restaurant is clean, modern, and welcoming, and the service was genuinely friendly throughout our visit. If we return to Paris, we’ll definitely come back to Chez Sophia. Highly recommended!

This was one of our favorite meals during our trip to Paris. The most delicious food and the service was incredible. We wanted to sit outside but there was no available tables, however they moved a table outside just for us. The owner Sophie is so nice and welcoming! She has an incredible restaurant. Sophie it was a pleasure to meet you and visit your lovely restaurant! 🙂

Chez Sophie knocked our socks off. The food was to die for, and the service was wonderful. It was our last night in Paris and we just stumbled upon Chez Sophie. I’m so happy we did- truly one of the best meals we had on our trip and we are still raving about it. The service was wonderful, they are all so kind and attentive. The meal was incredible, from the charcuterie board to our entrees. I highly recommend the Filet de Poulet- I will be dreaming of the secret sauce the rest of my life. My fiancé loved the smash burger and the homemade frites. I will forever recommend this restaurant to anyone I hear visiting Paris and I cannot wait to return again someday!

Nothing to fault about Chez Sophie. Everyone we interacted with was so delightful; just friendly and funny and kind! We loved the food (steak tartare) and the drinks (cocktails and wine). We were old friends who hadn’t seen each other in years and this was the perfect setting to do so. If you have the chance do visit when in Paris!

I would not even give this restaurant one star, simply because the owner does not respect his customers at all. We were excited to try this restaurant for the all that you can eat steak options. I ordered the lamb shank and my husband ordered the all you can eat steak and fries. Part way through eating my lamb, a sharp piece of bone got stuck in my cheek. I pulled it out and my husband mentioned it to the waitress. My husband also said that he was happy to pay for his meal but not for mine. The waitress apologised and said she would speak to the owner. She came back and said that the owner replied that he would not be discounting the meal for the bone. The table next to us also put in a complaint that his steak was not what he had ordered and tasted nothing like the steak that his wife had been given. He had also ordered mashed potatoe and received fries, so then they brought the potatoe on a side plate. After we had finished eating, my husband went to pay and asked for a discount on my meal. The owner outright refused and said because I had eaten the meal there would be no discount. My husband wasn’t happy with this comment, and the owners response was that if we didn’t pay he would call the police, no apology, not even after telling him it got stuck in my cheek, in fact he was very rude. I ended up paying cash as I don’t like confrontation, but I did walk over to the other family and told them to be careful as the owner would not discount our meal. The owner then came over with a waiter and asked us to leave and grabbed my husbands arm, to which then the other customer stood up and said “hey, these are your customers” we did leave with our promise of this review.. which didn’t seem to bother him one bit… I do not recommend this restaurant at all..

My GO TO Restaurant Everytime I visit Lourdes.....The food is spectacular. Especially the escargot and the steak and lamb. Everything is homemade. The pasta the desserts etc etc. They have a wonderful wine and beer selection for those that like wine and beer..... The ambiance is spectacular with linen tablecloths. Don't think it's too expensive because it's extremely reasonable for the portions and the quality of the food you receive. The service is excellent but do not be in a rush. If you are in a rush please let them know when they will accommodate but this is Europe and in Europe they like to take their time....... Extremely clean and easy to get to I highly recommend this restaurant. It's where the locals eat.......

Very friendly staff, tasty and reasonably priced cocktails (€9). The burgers were okay—good meat and good fries. They used arugula for the lettuce, which isn't really my thing. There was also a large block of fried cheese in my burger; it didn't taste good, and it wasn't even supposed to be a cheeseburger. Everything else was fine.

After booking a table, we had to wait outside 30 min. When they took the order we asked to have a tea and a hot chocolate at the end of the lunch. They brought it before giving us no choice to take it later. The food arrived one hour later. The meat without the salad, and the avocado toast without salmon and without fries. They had to go to the supermarket to buy the salmon. In social media they promote “viande a volonte” (all you can eat meat brunch), when you actually have to choose between a normal buffet or dishes with hamburger meat for 35€ per person.

An outstanding steakhouse in Paris. The steak was so perfectly cooked, rich and full of flavour that it honestly didn’t need any sides. Pair it with a smooth red wine and it becomes a perfect meal. Simple, confident cooking done exceptionally well in a great atmosphere. If you’re a steak lover, this place is an absolute must. 🍷✨ Very friendly service and we will be back next time we are visiting Paris!

Super dining experience at this establishment. Showed up on a Friday evening and without a reservation and was quickly seated. Had a magnificent meal, including half a bottle of red for under 75 euro, for two people - as described. Great value! Highly recommend this place. All dishes were delicious. Duck confit just fell of for the bone. Cheeses were great. The dessert was ridiculous. Highly recommend it I will be going again before my vacation is over 5/5!!!!!

One of the best restaurants in Paris! We waited for almost two hours because we didn’t reserve a table. The wait was well worth it! We got 4 starters, 3 mains, one dessert, and drinks, all for less than €60 in total for two people! One of the best value for money in Paris. We understand how it withstood the test of time, and why people queue for it. The different starters were amazing! The ratatouille, salad, and french soup were some of the highlights for me. Even the mains were filling and satisfying. Would definitely visit this place again and would book a reservation in advance. The staff was very polite and accommodating even though it was a very busy evening for them. They’re used to having tourists and locals. Highly recommended!

What can I say? Great service is the most important thing. Because when it comes to the food itself, I don't have to give a positive opinion, because that's what it is. Very tasty, affordable, and tastes like France. I recommend it to every tourist I will just point out that it is very important to make a reservation in advance. Because those willing to eat without a reservation, the number of people waiting reaches several dozen meters . I recommend for sure

A great restaurant if you want a meal with all the courses (appetizer, main, and dessert) with a reasonable price. though don't expect any major surprises—the food is solid and perfectly fine. We went in the afternoon, around 4 PM, so there was no wait. Ordering was quick, and the food arrived promptly, too. You can pay directly via an app using the QR code found at each table, which makes settling the bill incredibly easy. A overall good experience.

The restaurant operations are fantastic. We booked in advance and got our table so quickly. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, the system is efficient, and the staff are professional. Unfortunately, the food itself was very disappointing. Even with the budget-friendly prices, it wasn't worth it. You're better off saving your money and eating elsewhere.

I tried this restaurant on my most recent visit to Paris to try their legendary steak frites. This was one of my favorite spots and it is definitely worth the wait! When you get there you will see the line, we waited an hour before being seated. When you get there they ask how you like your steak cooked and then serve you their traditional Walnut salad while you wait for your steak and fries. Everything was cooked perfectly and I will be back here on my next trip! They even give you seconds if you are still hungry, which is awesome, who doesn’t like unlimited steak frites?

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte is a fantastic French restaurant and definitely one of the best choices for steak in Paris. The concept is very simple, but that is exactly what makes the experience special. There is no complicated menu; they only ask how you would like your steak cooked and what you would like to drink. The meal starts with a fresh and delicious walnut salad, which is served before the main course. It was simple, light, and full of flavour. After that, they bring the first round of steak with chips, and when you finish, they bring a second hot round. This is an amazing idea because it keeps the food fresh, warm, and enjoyable from beginning to end. The steak was really delicious, cooked perfectly, and served with their special sauce, which made it even better. The chips were crispy and tasty, and the whole meal felt very satisfying. It is a fantastic place to enjoy a proper steak meal in Paris. After the steak, we also tried a French dessert, and it was amazing. It was rich, beautifully served, and a perfect way to finish the meal. The service was also great. The staff were fast, calm, polite, and always served us with a happy face. Overall, Le Relais de l’Entrecôte was a wonderful experience with delicious food, a simple but smart concept, excellent service, and a very enjoyable atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to eat steak in Paris.

The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick. The venue itself is warm and inviting, nicely decorated, though the tables are cramped. The fixed menu offers a delicious experience: a salad with a excellent vinaigrette, impeccably cooked and sliced beef (medium-rare, just as it should be), and perfectly crispy french fries. Water and desserts are separate. The food was outstanding, with generous portions. They even came around twice to serve more meat and fries. What truly sets this place apart are the sauces for both the salad and the meat; they are delicious. For dessert, I had a Mont Blanc, which was excellent too with great texture and flavor. A couple of downsides. The waiting times outside were excessively long, almost an hour in the cold, which is unacceptable even during peak hours. They should improve this, perhaps with a covered or indoor waiting area, or consider a larger venue. Furthermore, the price of drinks is insane: I paid 7€ for a 1L sparkling water bottle. That said, I had a good experience overall.

Naturally, I saw this place all over tiktok and knew that I had to try it. The food was brilliant, i loved the sauce, steak and fries. I will say that there is a bit too much sauce that you begin to feel a bit of flavour fatigue after your first plate as it was on absolutely everything. I will say that the salad is dry and just lettuce. We waited in line for 30-40 minutes which i thought was quite reasonable considering we waited in line for few other tourist activities and food. The service was great, after our second plate we had been offered to have dessert or the bill so I’m unsure it is actually unlimited or if it’s just 2 plates. The restaurant is nice but small.

Had a great experience at Le Relais de l'Entrecôte. We waited in line for about 40 minutes, but it was worth it. The steak was very tasty, the wine was good, and the salad was fresh and delicious. As an American, I felt the steak portion was a little small, but the flavor was excellent. You will get two servings. Dessert was also really good. Overall, we enjoyed our time and would definitely recommend it for the quality and atmosphere.

Had a great birthday dinner celebration. Great service, good food and wine. Order the Steak Tartare with salad as a Starter. Great way to start the meal. Salers Matured Filet was the best entry we ordered though it was a little under cooked. The Fries are fresh cut and crispy. The pork steak was seasoned well. Get the chocolate lava cake for dessert...it comes with vanilla ice cream...great size for sharing.

What a gem if you like steak and chips! By Parisian standards not expensive either. For 18 euros we got a delicious steak and chips accompanied by a sauce. We added the seasonal vegetables and my son commented on how tasty they were despite not being a fan of veg. For dessert, we had the cheesecake and melting chocolate cake. Again delicious. We will defo go back on our next visit to Montmartre and I look forward to chatting to the friendly staff again too. Don’t go to the tourist traps, eat here!!!

Very nice place for a steak. Service was helpful, friendly.and English speaking. We had a nice time and enjoyed the meal. The pepper sauce is really sharp. So watch out. The bearnaise sauce is very good and so are the French fries. I will highly recommend this restaurant

There's so much room for improvement with this restaurant, which on face value seemed fine, but was a fairly average to poor experience. We dined as 2 adults, 2 children, but really didn't feel the children were that welcome, from not being offered the children's menu until we'd deliberated the full menu, to their general attitude to them not sitting still. Onto the food, which was all steak and steak hache for the children. We asked for all to come medium rare and most was well done - not acceptable, but brushed off by the main waitress, who seemed to not have been to customer service school. The trilogy of beef inckuded a really bad cut (chewy and tough to cut) entrecote and the bavette was very well done. The fillet was fine. Not a cheap meal but a disappointment and would not go back.

Order the 700g steak for 2 and ate it by myself. It was very good but definitely something for 2 people. I didn't have room in my stomach for the fries and salad that came with the dish afterward. As you can see from the pictures it was cooked to medium well and was tasty. Also, they do take American Express Credit cards.

This restaurant is famous in the neighborhood, if you want to go for meat and travel to Argentina you won't be disappointed. They serve excellent beef and desserts. I would have expected some tango music in the background. Booking is recommended but we managed to get a table without. The side dish is well balanced with salad and fried potatoes. The staff is professional. A good address to enjoy.

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte is truly an experience! If you want to eat here, be prepared to wait—they don’t take reservations, and the line is long. We arrived 30 minutes before opening, and there were already around 60 people ahead of us. Get there early, or you’ll be waiting even longer. We waited about 40–50 minutes, but it was absolutely worth it. The steak, fries, and especially the famous sauce were amazing, and you even get one refill. We also had dessert, and everything came to around €40 per person. I’ve been to Paris many times, and I’m so glad I finally experienced this place. It’s always packed and quite noisy, so I wouldn’t recommend it for an elegant date, but it’s perfect if you’re looking for a fun food experience. Highly recommend! Ps: the staff is very friendly :))

We arrived around 6:10 PM on a weekday and there was already a line, but it wasn’t too long. We managed to get in with the first round of guests. We were served a simple but tasty salad to start, then ordered drinks, and the main dish followed. The steak and fries were excellent, and we really liked that they come back to serve a second portion. The food and drinks overall were great. The staff were friendly, and the whole experience felt fun and well-organized. Also, many of the guests were French, which made it feel less touristy than expected. Definitely recommend it, and I’d happily come back next time I’m in Paris.

We had heard about this place and my daughters one desire when we were in Pairs was to have steak frites. So my son the goody found this for us and we made sure we were there when it opened. There was a line, but we made the first seating. What a great experience. It was funny to order when all you are ordering is how you want your steak prepared. We had 3 choices. Rare, medium, or well done. We all ordered medium and it was perfect! It was closer to medium rare but that is how we would have ordered it if we had the option. The starter salad was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce was so good! And the frites! Absolutely to die for. The 3 of us all had two helpings, and then couldn’t resist a dessert too. Next time we were in Paris we will definitely be going back here!

If you’re willing to wait in line, it’s absolutely worth going. If you’re in Paris, you really should come here at least once. The standard menu includes fries, salad, and their Paris sauce steak, followed by dessert. It’s not a place to sit for hours chatting, as there’s usually a long queue outside, but the food makes it worthwhile. Everything is delicious, and I never leave Paris without stopping by. The staff are friendly and welcoming. It’s definitely a must try spot before leaving the city. Prices are reasonable: you pay a standard per person menu, with dessert and drinks added separately. Come hungry 🤤you’ll leave very full.

You definitely need to go early; it opens at 6 PM. If you arrive earlier, you can get in quickly, otherwise you'll wait for more than 1.5 hours. You get in according to the number of people in your party; even if there are seats available, you might have to wait. First, you get a walnut salad with mustard sauce. For the meat, you only choose the doneness level; it comes in two pieces with a special sauce. You can have dessert at the end, but I didn't particularly like the soft, creamy chocolate-sauce dessert.

An elegant Argentine grill experience in a central Parisian setting, where the focus is clearly on quality meat and a refined dining atmosphere. The selection of grilled cuts is well executed, with careful cooking and clean presentation, accompanied by simple sides served separately, allowing the meat to remain the true protagonist. The overall setting feels polished and well curated, with attentive service and a relaxed yet upscale ambiance. Drinks and wines are an integral part of the experience, making it suitable not only for dinner but also for a more extended evening at the table. A solid choice for those looking for Argentine-style grilled meat in Paris, delivered in a sophisticated and well-balanced environment.

Essential Tips for Ordering Steak in Paris

Before you make a reservation and tie on your napkin, it is important to understand the nuances of ordering beef in France. The language, the cuts, and the cooking temperatures differ significantly from those in the United States, the UK, or Australia.

Knowing how to navigate the menu will ensure you receive exactly the plate you are dreaming of, avoiding the disappointment of an overcooked or misidentified cut. Here is how to order like a local connoisseur.

1. Learn the French Butchery Vocabulary

The American “ribeye” does not exist by that name in Paris. You will need to know that a ribeye is generally sold as an entrecôte (though technically a slice of rib), a strip steak is a faux-filet, and a tenderloin is a filet. If you want a T-bone, ask for an os à moelle or T-bone. Familiarizing yourself with these terms, or pointing to a diagram if the menu provides one, will save you from confusion.

2. Master the “Cuisson” (Cooking Temperature)

The French generally prefer their meat rarer than the rest of the world. If you usually order “medium” in the US, you should order à point in Paris. If you want medium-rare, ask for saignant (literally “bloody”). If you want rare, ask for bleu (blue). Ordering bien cuit (well done) is often met with resistance or, at the very least, a sigh from the chef, as it is considered a disservice to high-quality beef.

3. Don’t Expect Heavy Sauces

While you will find sauce au poivre (pepper sauce) and béarnaise on many menus, the top-tier steakhouses in Paris often serve their best cuts with nothing more than a sprinkle of fleur de sel or a pat of compound butter. Trust the chef’s sourcing. If you are dining at a high-end chophouse, resist the urge to drown the meat in ketchup or heavy gravy; taste the dry-aged flavor first.

4. “Steak Frites” is a Different Category

It is vital to distinguish between a classic bistro serving steak frites and a dedicated steakhouse. The former is a cheap, cheerful, and often delicious everyday meal, usually using a cheaper cut like onglet (hanger) or bavette (flank). The latter is a premium experience featuring aged, thick-cut, luxury meats. Both are worth trying, but they serve different cravings and budgets.

5. Side Dishes are A La Carte

In many traditional American steakhouses, a steak comes with a salad and a potato. In Paris, the main course is often just the meat. Sides like gratin dauphinois, pommes frites, or creamed spinach are usually ordered separately and are designed for sharing. When budgeting for your meal, factor in the cost of these accompaniments, as they are essential to the full experience.

6. Ask About the Breed and Origin

A truly great Parisian steakhouse will be proud of its sourcing. Do not hesitate to ask your server where the beef comes from. You will often hear answers like “Galicia,” “Simmental,” “Holstein,” or “Limousin.” The best restaurants age their meat in-house in a visible cellar. If the staff can confidently explain the aging process and the breed, you are in the right place.

The landscape of dining in Paris is constantly shifting, but the love for a perfectly charred piece of beef remains a constant. Whether you choose a historic institution that has been serving politicians for decades or a new hotspot with a roaring wood fire, you are participating in a ritual that transcends borders.

Take your time, order a robust red wine from the Rhône or Bordeaux, and enjoy the theater of the dining room. Paris is a city of pleasure, and there are few pleasures more primal and satisfying than cutting into a perfectly rested, expertly seared steak in the heart of the City of Light.
