15 Best Steakhouses in Annecy

Annecy, often called the “Venice of the Alps,” is world-renowned for its crystal-clear lake, winding canals, and stunning mountain backdrops. While the city is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and romantics, it is also a deeply satisfying destination for culinary travelers. Among the cobblestone streets of the Vieille Ville and the modern districts beyond, a vibrant steakhouse culture has taken root.

Dining out in Haute-Savoie is traditionally associated with melted cheese, but the demand for premium beef has sparked a wave of exceptional grills. Local chefs are pairing the region’s rich agricultural heritage with modern butchery techniques. Whether you crave a classic French entrecôte or a dry-aged cut cooked over an open flame, Annecy delivers.

The local dining scene benefits from its proximity to both Swiss and Italian borders, creating a unique cross-cultural influence on meat preparation. You will find everything from traditional French brasseries to contemporary Argentine-inspired parrillas. This diversity ensures that every steak lover, regardless of their preferred cut or cooking style, can find a satisfying meal.

Choosing the right restaurant can be overwhelming, especially with so many tourist traps near the lake. The key is to look for establishments that prioritize meat sourcing, often featuring French breeds like Charolais, Limousine, or Aubrac. A great steakhouse in Annecy balances ambiance, precise cooking temperatures, and thoughtful wine pairings.

We have curated a list of the best destinations for meat lovers, ranging from upscale dining rooms to cozy, wood-fired hideaways. Each venue has been selected for its commitment to quality ingredients and consistent execution. These are the places where locals go when they want a perfectly seared crust and a tender, juicy center.

Below, you will find a curated guide to the finest steak experiences the city has to offer. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply satisfying a craving after a day on the lake, this list ensures you dine well. Prepare your appetite for the most robust and flavorful tables in the capital of the Alps.

This Turkish restaurant is truly outstanding and exceeded all expectations. The BBQ platter and beef steak were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, juicy, and incredibly tender. On the occasion of Eid, they generously served a complimentary starter along with their famous Turkish tea, which added a special touch to the experience. I was genuinely impressed by their exceptional service everything was handled quickly, smoothly, and with great attention to detail. A highly memorable dining experience.

Ordered mixed grills for 2 . I’ve had Turkish food before at bosphorous London and Florida and I thought they’re good and I am from the Middle East . This meal I had here at betzayde tops them all. Amazing!!! So generous also . The portion could feed 3 or 4 . The flavors of the meats and the bourgol is out of this world. The server was so kind and pleasant and provided such a great service also.

From the moment I walked into the restaurant, I knew I was in for a memorable experience. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between cozy and elegant, with warm lighting, tasteful décor. The service was impeccable — attentive without being overbearing. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and made excellent recommendations from the menu. As for the food — simply outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The Iskendar was a standout: tender, perfectly seasoned, and paired with a sauce that was pure perfection. Even the sides were crafted with care and creativity. What truly sets this restaurant apart is its attention to detail and commitment to quality. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking for an exceptional meal, Beyzade Steak House is a place you’ll want to return to again and again. Highly recommended — a true gem in the heart of Anncy

Wonderful restaurant tucked away on a less busy street of Annecy. So spotlessly clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Dinner was excellent from the half chicken cooked to perfection and the sweet potatoe fries crisp. The salad dressing was by far my favorite and after asking a staff member how it was made he kindly gave me the recipe. Would definitely recommend.

Great Vibe and Cocktails, But Service Missteps and Cooking Accuracy Need Work We recently dined at Chez Ingalls in Annecy, and while the restaurant has a lot going for it conceptually, a few key execution errors held the experience back from being truly great. On the positive side, the atmosphere is fantastic, especially with the charming, tucked-away courtyard entrance and cozy wooden interior. The cocktail program is excellent—the drinks were well-crafted, balanced, and beautifully presented. Additionally, their wine selection is extensive and offers some great regional choices that pair nicely with the traditional menu. However, the main courses and the service left room for improvement. I ordered the steak requested at medium, but it was served rare. While the quality of the meat was clearly there, the execution on the temperature was off. The biggest detractor from our evening was the service. While navigating the seating area, our waitress physically pushed my arm against the chair to move past. It actually hurt, but what was most disappointing was that she didn’t even offer a brief apology or acknowledge it before moving on. Chez Ingalls has all the ingredients for a top-tier dining experience in Annecy—the ambiance, the drinks, and the menu potential are all there. If they can refine their service etiquettes and ensure the kitchen hits requested cooking temperatures, it would easily be a 5-star spot.

Huge restaurant with indoor and covered outdoors area. A reasonable fixed price menu or à la carte options. Service was very good. You can tell the restaurant is a well oiled machine. Food came out quickly and was good - nothing exceptional in terms of taste but a reliable place to eat in Annecy.
Lana Lumi★★★★☆
Everything was great. We had the burgers and the Caesar salad, and both were really good. The staff were polite and everyone spoke English, which made the visit very pleasant. The only thing is that it was a little difficult to quickly understand some of the dishes from the menu, but overall we really enjoyed the experience.
Ruby Lin★★★★☆
Great restaurant and delicious food. However with a humble suggestion that it might be not so appropriate to collect the leftover in front of customers. We sit right in front of the corner where waiter/ waitress collected leftover and used plates. It is difficult for us to ignore it whenever there is something dumped in front of us. Not just us stared at the pile of leftover but also customer from the other table. Hope this little advice from us would make the overall dining experience better!

I had a wonderful experience at La Bastille à Raoul during my visit to Annecy. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and authentic, and the location along the canal made for a memorable evening. However, what truly stood out was the exceptional service provided by Eza. As someone who does not eat pork or drink alcohol, navigating a traditional Savoyard menu can be challenging. Eza was incredibly patient, friendly, and helpful. He took the time to explain the dishes, answer all my questions, and recommend options that suited my dietary requirements. He never made me feel rushed and made the entire experience easy and enjoyable. The lamb dish was outstanding, the chicken with Reblochon cheese was delicious, and the crème brûlée was the perfect ending to the meal. But what I will remember most is the genuine hospitality shown by Eza. Service like this transforms a meal into a memorable experience. Thank you, Eza, for making me feel so welcome. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Savoyard cuisine and outstanding customer service. ★★★★★
jose lourenco★★★★★
We were surprised by how good it is considering its location in the middle of the most people traffic in Annecy. The ‘plat du jour’ a steak was very good! Be aware that for them a medium may come more like a well done. But even then the beef was not hard. Everyone is nice despite the rush hour. Also be aware if you are a couple you may not see by the canal since those seats are for 4 people.
Sascha F.★★★☆☆
Service was good, and Burgers were also quite okay. But the main problem is the Beef Tartar when you order a Beef Tartar you expect some ground beef and maybe some onions on top but what arrived was a mix of beef and pesto with pine nuts. This wasnt expected and wasnt written on the menu. We would rate better if this would be clarified on the menu

I came here for lunch on Monday and loved it so much that I came back again for dinner the next day! The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with their customers. They are also multilingual, which makes the experience even more comfortable for international visitors. And the food is absolutely delicious. Everything I tried was excellent, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. Such a warm, welcoming place with great service and amazing food. I would definitely come back again and highly recommend it!

Had lunch as a group of 5. Waiter was very unfriendly. First he brought us a bottle of water, while everybody around us had tab water. When I said we wanted tab water, he said he already opened the bottle and we have to take it. Food overall was good, especially the cheese dishes, kids menu and salads. The meat (entrecote) on the other hand was terrible. Very fatty meat and served well done (instead of medium). Would not recommend and meat dishes. When paying we pointed out that one of the dishes was wrong (entrecote instead of sirloin) he said he must have misunderstood and we had to pay what he served.

We were newcomers to Annecy and had planned to stay there three days to explore the city and the area in general as we certainly did. But the real reason for the visit to Annecy was celebrating my birthday with my son and friends. For that particular occasion we had searched social media and the internet in advance to give a clue what to check/pass by in person to see how it really looked before deciding anything..hoping there still were availabilities. Anyway, we spent half a day strolling around in the city just for that but somehow we didn't feel good enough about.. what we had seen and even got recommendations beforehand should be ideal for such an occasion. Already in middle in the afternoon of my birthday and a bit tired after a long day strolling around to find the right place to celebrate at dinner and not feeling content about what we had seen with our own eyes (not only on photos from various social media options), we happened to be standing in a street in front of a hotel (Hôtel Les Pélican) near the lake and noticed a nice terrace/balcony above one the second floor. Let's check what's there and we went inside by the hotel's main entrance and upstairs to find access onto the terrace: Wow, that's the right place, elegant environment with stunning views over the lake...for us to celebrate tonight! We were lucky and reserved..to be back there after three hours for dinner. It was an amazing evening we enjoyed there June 19, 2026. Everybody was very happy about the food each had chosen from the menu, the wine and desserts. The service was excellent and the staff friendly and professional. I can with genuine and pure pleasure recommend this restaurant Ô Bon Bec! 🙏🏻💖🌿🇮🇸

We stayed 3 days at the Le pelican Hotel in Annecy and had a fantastic experience overall. On our first night, we dined at the Bon O bec Restaurant Lounge, and it was truly memorable. The view is absolutely stunning you can enjoy the beautiful scenery while having dinner, which creates such a relaxing and chic atmosphere. The food was delicious simple yet refined – and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. After dinner, we headed to the Rooftop at ô cèdre, which was another highlight of the evening. The ambiance was great and the staff there were exceptional the tall guy in the rooftop bar is super friendly so attentive and genuinely warm. It was a really good experience from start to finish.

The worst meal we had on our 17 night trip to France .My Cerviche was just odd , no lime or citrus it was just bland. The Sea Bream I left , no one asked throughout the meal if we were enjoying it , then took the plate away saying nothing when I complained I hadnt liked it .We had to go to the bar to pay as our table seemed a no go zone after my observations on the food Its expensive and I would have expected more. LArtisan next door the night before was amazing - cheaper, with superb food , friendly service a real ten out of ten experience Save your money and go next door !!

Flew in to Geneva - tired, hungry and in need of comfort food. Hubby wanted a steak … and I just needed to eat … anything … and fast. We didn’t have reservations but the lovely ladies offered us a table with the only concern being that they needed our table in an hour and a half in order to honour a reservation commitment. The chosen steak from the display wowed my husband and my chicken dish was absolutely delicious in a lovely cream sauce atop tasty mashed potatoes. Super quaint and cute venue. Staff went out if their way for us crazy Canadians!! We both left there so grateful, content and with happy bellies. Wee walkabout in the neighborhood and off to our hotel to sleep. A good night indeed. Merci. Merci. Merci.

Hidden gem for a meat lover. Great service. The children enjoyed the kids steak and fries. We ordered our meat "medium well done" but it was more on the "rare" side (for an American). It still tasted great though. Their tiramisu and creme brulee were amazing!

I came in here after a trail run in the mountains beside it absolutely starving. I ordered the Burger and thought it wouldn't be filling enough but when they brought it out I needn't have worried as it was enormous and with delicious home frites. I ate it too quickly so couldn't finish the last bite even with the encouragement from the serveur😂😂 It was so tasty and perfectly cooked. The price was great and so worth it for the quality of the food. Staff are super nice, friendly and efficient.

We scopes out several restaurants before selecting L'Estaminet. We sat out in the front patio. However they do have a back balcony with a few spots. I believe these are all based on reservations. Both areas are very scenic. It was a little noisy, but you could easily have a conversation. We had some beverages and ordered our food. The food came out reasonably quick. We had the chicken dish and beef stew. Both were done to perfection. The fresh bread with the meal was very good as well. This was late in April, so I am sure as the summer picks up it will be much more challenging to get a table during prime time. If possible, I would make the reservation and eat on the balcony along the water.
S Sali★★★★☆
We had a good meal at L’Estaminet. The food was of good quality and we enjoyed what we ordered. The service was friendly, but it was quite slow during our visit. The outdoor seating area is pleasant, although the surrounding area feels a bit rough at first glance. Inside the restaurant, there was a very strong food smell, which made the dining experience a little less comfortable. Overall, it’s a good place for quality food, but there is room for improvement in the speed of service and the indoor atmosphere.

We were looking for something different from a pizza in Annecy and came across really good reviews for this restaurant. We booked and the waiter knew who we were from our booking and immediately showed us to our table. The menu has a narrative and pictures woven round the dishes being family recipes and it worked as there is an integrity around this. The meat stew is exceptional, as is the chicken dish. Desserts are lovely, especially the profiteroles. The dessert menu is extensive. You get the feeling that staff want guests to enjoy their food. We all had a lovely evening.

We dined here on Sunday the 9th and we had a fabulous time. The carbonade flamande was so rich and delicious and the beef was perfectly cooked and generous. The filet de perche dishes that my parents had been enjoyed very much. The Mi Cuit Chocolat was rich and melting in the middle, and the coupes glaces were so varied and tasty. The wine was excellent and the service was spot on. The staff were friendly and welcoming and clearly working around the clock; keep this up!!

Great steak here, but the service was some of the worst we had in all of France, as the waiter was just cold and not willing to help us navigate the menu or make any recommendations. Definitely would not come back given the lack of friendliness and helpfulness of the wait staff.

We had the raclette. It was very good. The service was also good. Every staff greeted me when I walked in the restaurant, all the way through to the upper floor. And it was very nice setup for the raclette. They reminded me that the skin of the cheese was the best part.

Nice outdoor seating overlooking the canal and a large restaurant inside as well as outdoor seating on the opposite side. The food was good and a decent portion. The beer which I think was their own tasted good.

9 of us ate here last night and all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The menu was well thought out, service was prompt and polite and the drinks selection good. Several of us had the bone marrow for starters and a fondue which was very well cooked. All our other party that had different items agreed that theirs was equally as good. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Choose different restaurant. Service needs improvement for sure. Food doesn’t matter They cooked my steak in an oil used for a fish dish we ordered as well. This place is a joke. We wish we went somewhere else.

Had a fantastic meal here, after a recommendation from our Accommodation. The setting in Annecy Old Town, right on the little river is simply stunning. The timber decor and 2-storey layout creates a beautiful cosey vibe. The quality of the service, food & wine was impeccable. We had the Cafe de Paris du Chalet, and the Rigatoni Crème de Parmesan - which were both delicious, paired with a local Gamay from the region.

We had a fabulous dinner canal side at Le Chalet. We were focused on finding quality escargot and fondue and this did not disappoint! We ordered the fondue with truffle and it was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable service makes you feel right at home. Would highly recommend! However, you don’t need to order all but one of the accoutrements for the fondue for two, but you can, and still won’t be disappointed, but might need a long walk home 🙂

Mediocre tourist trap. The meat they serve is mostly imported from Germany. They do not serve tap water on demand like legally in France. Price does not match quality. I initially gave 3 stars but I modified to 1 star because upon seeing my review, the owner (I believe) came to rudely argue about my review in public. Would not recommend.

It's probably the worst one on our trip, especially for a french restaurant. It feels very much like a tourist trap, and it's by the river and very crowded. The salad was very uncharacteristically oily. THe french fries were soggy. The esgargos were disappointing.

If I could give Le Chalet 10 stars, I would! Highly recommend making reservations. We were greeted warmly and had a wide variety of menu choices. I had the most delicious meal of risotto with seared scallops and artichoke. It was the hit of our table. The rest of our party enjoyed their tasty burger and perch dinners as well. The service and atmosphere were A+++. Don’t miss this local gem of a restaurant!

We ate at COZNA this evening, my wife and I had one last date night before our baby arrives and it turns out we chose the perfect place! The service was fantastic, we were shown to our seats upstairs in a lovely setting, we loved the decor and the atmosphere was perfect. Both of our servers were so polite and friendly, it really added to our experience. The food, wow, everything was presented beautifully, the flavours were spot on, I’ve been a chef for over 20 years and the balance in every dish was absolutely perfect. In fact, it was so good we ended up ordering all of the desserts, a great choice by us as they were all perfect in their own way! We can’t wait for our next trip down from the mountains to Annecy, we will be back! Huge thanks to the team for a lovely evening!

The food was extremely average. The dessert was really bad and completely unacceptable for a restaurant that claims to be a fine dining establishment
Noimea★★★★☆
Good but nothing exceptional. Dishes on the heavy side. A lot of dairy (cheese and cream) and not many plant-forward dishes. Surprisingly, the desserts were a let down (lacked refinement or some finesse).

Three of us were lucky to get the last table on the patio at lunch today. Reserve if you can. We were greeted warmly and professionally. Food allergies were addressed with ease. Our selections of glasses of local wines from their short but well-curated list arrived swiftly. The mise-en-bouche (melon soup + Parmesan Madelines), the mushroom purée appetizer, the fish and chicken mains) and the fig and ice-cream tart, comprising the “daily menu” were all of the highest standard. Bravo to the kitchen. Their Michelin mentions are well-deserved.

The restaurant is located on a very picturesque street of the old town. The room is small, but very cozy! It is better to book a table in advance, but at lunchtime you may be lucky and be seated without a prior reservation. 12-14:00 there is a special lunch menu for 27€, which includes: appetizer, main course and dessert. You can ask the waiter for a menu in English. The waiters are very friendly and helpful. They speak English well ❤️ The food is incredibly delicious! We are very lucky to be here

We received such a warm welcome at Chez Mamie Lise — it immediately felt cozy and inviting. The restaurant offers a great variety on the menu, with something for everyone. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout our meal. The charming decoration added to the overall atmosphere, making it a truly enjoyable experience. Highly recommended if you’re in Annecy!

Dinner for 3, service for the soul 🌿✨ Great food local fish, vegetarian risotto, and a tarte tatin that stole the show. The salad sauce had their special attention! I mean wow walnut salad dressing! But honestly? The vibe was just as good as the plates. Shoutout to Pedro! attentive, warm, and made us feel so well received. That kind of service? Rare. And unforgettable.

We had a great time at Chez Mama Lise. The food was really lovely and beautifully presented. I had French pork chop, which was perfectly cooked. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and is just round the corner from Palais De L'Isle.

We both enjoyed the French onion soup to start. Next course, I had a chicken dish & my husband had the fillet steak. Both main dishes had excellent flavor & were super tasty. As Irish, we appreciated most the truffle mash & super sized fries! Cannot fault the food at this venue & would return!

One of the best place to enjoy the traditional delicacies of the region. Staffs were super welcoming and the service was on top notch. Place was clean and comfy. Definitely recommend this place for a good lunch/dinner while in Annecy. My only recommendation is that they could have more choices of vegetarian options while many dishes could easily transformed into vegetarian without massive changes in recipes.

Tips for Choosing the Perfect Steakhouse in Annecy

Navigating the restaurant scene in a tourist-heavy city like Annecy requires a bit of local insight. While the allure of a lakeside view is strong, the quality of the meat should be your primary compass. The following recommendations will help you distinguish a truly exceptional grill from a standard tourist menu, ensuring you get the best value and flavor during your visit.

Book Ahead, Especially on Weekends
Annecy is a compact city with high demand for quality dining. The best steakhouses often have limited seating because they focus on careful preparation rather than high volume. Reserving a table a few days in advance is essential, particularly during the summer months and the Christmas market season.

Look for French Beef Origins
A superior steakhouse will proudly list the origin of its beef on the menu. Look for terms like "Bœuf de Charolles," "Limousine," or "Aubrac." This transparency indicates that the chef cares about the marbling, texture, and ethical sourcing of the meat, which directly impacts the taste on your plate.

Understand the French Doneness Scale
French cooking temperatures differ slightly from American or British standards. In France, "Saignant" (rare) is often very cool in the center, while "À Point" is closer to a medium-rare. If you prefer medium, you may need to ask for "Bien Cuit," though chefs often recommend enjoying premium cuts rarer to appreciate the texture.

Don’t Skip the Sauces
While a great steak needs little adornment, French sauces are an art form. In Annecy, you will often find regional twists, such as a pepper sauce made with local cream or a red wine reduction using Savoie grapes. Trying the house-made sauce is part of the authentic French steakhouse experience.

Pair with Regional Wine
While Bordeaux is the classic pairing for red meat, Annecy’s proximity to the Savoie vineyards offers a unique opportunity. Ask your server for a robust Mondeuse or a Pinot Noir from the local hills. These wines often have a bright acidity that cuts through the richness of the beef perfectly.

The beauty of dining in Annecy is that the culinary experience extends far beyond the plate. The atmosphere of a dimly lit cellar in the old town or a lively terrace overlooking the Thiou canal enhances every bite. A great steakhouse here understands that the setting is just as important as the sear on the meat.

As you explore the gastronomic side of this Alpine paradise, let your palate guide you beyond the fondue pots. The city’s dedication to butchery and fire-cooking is a testament to its evolving food scene. Enjoy the warmth of the hospitality and the richness of the flavors that make Annecy a true destination for carnivores.
