15 Best Pizza Spots in Rouen

Rouen may be celebrated for its towering cathedral and medieval half-timbered houses, but its culinary scene tells an equally compelling story. While Norman cuisine is famous for rich creams, butters, and apples, the city has quietly cultivated a vibrant pizza culture that rivals much larger French metropolises. From wood-fired Neapolitan classics to inventive French interpretations, the "City of a Hundred Spires" offers a slice for every craving.

The local pizza landscape is defined by a commitment to quality ingredients, often sourced from the surrounding Normandy region. You will find creamy local cheeses, artisan cured meats, and vegetables from nearby markets gracing the dough. Whether you are a tourist refueling after visiting the Gros-Horloge or a local looking for your new Friday night favorite, the options are impressively diverse.

Navigating the cobblestone streets to find the perfect pie can be overwhelming, especially with so many restaurants vying for attention. Some spots focus on the authenticity of Naples, importing flour and San Marzano tomatoes, while others embrace a more rustic, French bistro style with crème fraîche and regional toppings. This guide aims to cut through the noise and point you directly to the tables worth reserving.

We have considered not just the toppings, but the entire experience: the quality of the dough, the atmosphere of the dining room, and the consistency of the service. From bustling pizzerias near the Seine to hidden gems in the historic center, these recommendations are designed to satisfy both traditionalists and adventurous eaters.

Below, you will find a curated list of the best places to eat pizza in Rouen. Each entry has been selected for its dedication to flavor, authenticity, and hospitality.

Disappointing "roman" style pizza quality and questionable pizza toppings. As a roman chicken can't be on pizza also...

The Focaccia is really delicious. Crispy and warm on the outside and soft and light on the inside. The ingredients were all fresh and tasty. The Fig jam was divine. The service was very nice, spoke english very well and they were also very quick. 3 menus (with drinks and desserts) cost around 40€ which is fair. The desserts, especially the pana cotta and the peach-thingy very a 10/10. The atmosphere is very hip. There aren’t many desks so just keep that in mind. It’s cozy, the music is a bit loud but they were only playing Post Malone, so I didn’t mind haha. Would recommend every tourist who needs a quick little snack to go here 🙂
Valentina Gladkova★★★★★
One of the best focaccias I have ever tried! The panna cotta is also amaizing - sweet and savoury. Definitely recommend to try.
Georges Edde★★★★★
Very good ambiance, the service was perfect, not to mention the tasty focaccias. In conclusion, one of the best focaccia places you can find in Rouen.

Amazing calm atmosphere, great service and great food. A really nice discovery in the heart of the city center.

Enzo Pitzalis★★★☆☆
A mixed bag. After two Uber Eats orders, I had two drastically different results. The first was perfect: good, fresh, generous, and thinly sliced. The second was a slice of ham so thick it was sickening. There were also pieces of bell pepper about 10cm by 3cm. I thought the delivery team would mix the two types of ham and not keep them separate, but that's okay. They need to maintain the quality level; the competition is fierce.

Such a beautiful find with delicious, reasonably priced food. The staff were exceptional, really friendly and efficient. A big thank you to Augustin for his kindness and humour.
Magalie Azar★★☆☆☆
The food was late, the main dish arrived before the Entrées and the waiter had completely forgotten about them until we reminded them and not much was done about it. The food was stale and some cold it was very clear that it’s not freshly made. A friend ordered pizza and was made aware that the pizza guy arrives later so technically his pizza should have been the hottest plate at the table - it was not. We were extremely disappointed
Frances Wells★★★★★
Lovely restaurant with delicious food and wine. Great ambiance and attentive staff
John O'Leary★★★★★
Excellent food, lovely restaurant and great hospitality.
Fam. Boegheim★★☆☆☆
If you appreciate well-prepared, flavorful food, this may not be the right place for you. We had the impression that much of the food had been prepared well in advance and was simply reheated before serving. The French fries, in particular, were disappointing. The staff were friendly and courteous, but when we raised our concerns, the waiter indicated that this was their standard way of serving the dishes. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience did not meet our expectations, and we will not be returning.

The atmosphere was wonderful with quick and very good service despite no-one in our party speaking french. The food was very good and the menu was exceptional. I would absolutely recommend this place and would love to come back in the future!
Andrea Grover★★★★☆
We had a large party which our server handled gracefully despite the fact that we arrived in several waves. The food was better than I expected; I had the Insalatta Italienne and it was great - the soft cheese was very flavorful, the marinated vegetables were well prepared, the greens were fresh, the chicken was perfectly cooked, and the serving was generous. The chicken-shaped water pitchers are delightfully French. The Italian in our group had Opinions: not a « proper » Margherita and pasta carbonara should involve eggs, not cream (I have to agree there, white wine and cream in a carbonara is an almost American level of culinary impertinence.) But for a non-Italian person, these things are probably less important. I was jealous of the frites that others got. They looked exceptional. My only complaint was that paying the bill was a bit confusing and our server had vanished by then. There’s a QR code option that even permits you to split the bill yourself (awesome!) but we had 2 tables, each with its own code, and the bill was on one of them. Several in our party paid at the bar because the mobile payment option was not obvious to them, which was much slower.

Very good pizza, not exceptionally good but quite good, friendly staff and was ready quite fast. The price however was a bit too steep at 14€ per pizza, I'm not sure I'll be back often because of that 🙁
Krista Veenker★★★★★
We ended up at Koala by accident. Great pizzas, very unique and good ingredients. Thus, worth the higher price. Close to the river, great for a picnic. The location itself is very small. Just a little note, the eggplant on the Basil pizza could have been cooked longer.
Tom Glavina★★★★★
Visited late on a Sunday. Took pizza and a bottle of wine down the river. Chief Koala was super helpful and provided delicious prompt pizza. Proper neopolitan style. Chewy air filled crust, thin base and plentiful toppings. “The best pizza in the world” said my daughter aged 5
Gergo★★★★★
Friendly staff. The pizza is amazing. I do recommend!

My only complaint is that I live too far away to eat this pizza every day! Fresh, great sauce, perfect crust. Fantastic… each and every slice.

Great restaurant but not keen on the touch screen ordering system - takes away the personal touch of dining out. Food was good and location is great.
Kevin TRAN (sunglasses)★★★★★
Great pizza and fresh mushrooms. Tables could be cleaner
Regina Reynolds★★★★☆
The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that while my dish was excellent, my partner's dish was not very good. I ordered the mozarella ball starter and prosciutto pizza, both of which were AMAZING and easily 5 out of 5. My partner got the tomato tapenade starter and the pasta marinara main dish. The starter was delicious (4 out of 5), but the noodles left quite a lot to be desired. The noodle sauce was delicious, but the noodles themselves were somehow simultaneously undercooked and overcooked. I don't know what happened, but they were al dente on the inside while being gummy on the outside. They were edible, but on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best, the noodles were a 1 or a 2. The sauce was very good, which somewhat redeemed the dish, but the noodles dragged the dish as a whole down to a 2 or a 3. For dessert, we got the Nutella pizza, which was so deliciously decadent that we couldn't finish it and had to take the leftovers home with us. That was easily a 5 out of 5. Overall, the experience was generally positive, but I would avoid the noodles in the future.
Anna Afonina★★★★★
Lucia and Lylie were absolutely wonderful! So kind, attentive, friendly, and always ready to help. We stayed in Rouen for three days and came to this restaurant every single day because we enjoyed it so much. Everything was great, and their warm service made our experience even better. Highly recommended!

i did order a delivery for few times and i must admit that it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. they didn't skimp on the filling, it was amazing! highly recommend!
Paul Schumacher★★★★☆
Delighted. Four smiling and helpful guys made us two pizzas to go (so we could catch a train) in a matter of minutes! Both were perfectly cooked with a delicious bready dough, crispy on the edge and (when fresh, given we had a ten minute walk) not soggy in the middle. I asked for VEGAN and the young man whipped up a vegetarian with no cheese for me! Super fresh ingredients it was clear. Prices were surprisingly modest. I hope they succeed, we both loved ours. But why, do they not slice their pizza?? That’s the only negative. Chili flakes would be amazing. Thanks Lolo and Zaza!
Diana Rook★★★★★
Bar none, the best pizza crust we have had in France. When I complimented the owner, she said her husband is a baker! (No wonder it was so good!) And the Italian salad with a variety of meat was excellent! Reasonable prices. Highly recommend, would definitely go again.

Ridiculous prices for store bought souses from a jar... overcooked, gewy shrimps. Dirty tablet (after cleaned twice by staff) AND you sit on the street across of trash bins! Absolutely not worth it!

I honestly think this is one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten, so delicious, the crust, the cheese, the sauce, the capers and the anchovies. Yum!! The young woman who worked there was also so sweet. We will definitely be back!
Natasa B.★★★★☆
Very nice pinsa with good ingredients. What we liked the most was the clean open kitchen and that we could see the passion and care that both the father and the son were working! What i would like more is that they could have a salad option at their menu or some entrées, to have before or with your pizza, as you could have only pizza or some other main course plates and desserts also. (Their menu was small and incomplete for a restaurant in France!) Also, their Tiramisu was great, as good and maybe better than those we had in Rome!
Neil Callagher★★★★★
A great little Italian restaurant on the edge of Rouen old town. Well optioned menu, house made pasta, generously topped pizza at great prices. Thoroughly recommend dining here.
Colby Tomasello★★★★★
If you are visiting Rouen, you CANNOT miss this place! It is very close to all the beautiful churches / monuments. I had the pizza with sausage and hot peppers, it was truly fantastic. Clearly fresh sauce, delicious cheese, and crust that could compete with the streets of Rome. I was too full for dessert (the pizzas are also a great size, even for me a 22M), but they looked fantastic, simple yet elegant. The service spoke great English and entertained my fledgling French. Great atmosphere! Trés bien!

This little pizza spot is manifique! It was a short walk for us to get a tasty pizza pie. It was so good we went back again. We're out of towner's visiting a beautiful city. The basil was fresh and the pizza made right in front of us. A junior is enough for a teen. The senior pie/pizza is more sharable and you could get two junior pizzas for the price of one. Mustafah is a kind person who speaks many languages and so it was good to talk while the pizzas were being prepared. The wait is minimal depending on how many orders are before you. Great pizza!

Absolutely the best pizzeria in Rouen! I love the pizzas here: the crust has that perfect leopard pattern, and the dough is both soft and crunchy. The ingredients are top quality, fresh, and full of flavor. You can really taste the care and craftsmanship in every bite. 100% recommended! 👏🏻🤩

Sometimes the best stories happen by accident. We had a lunch reservation today at a centre of Rouen but the moment we arrived, we knew it just wasn’t it. So instead of forcing it we trusted our instinct and walked away. A few minutes later, we ended up at Margherite. Honestly, with no big expectations, just guided by good reviews. And we didn’t regret it. Not even for a second. The funny part? It’s a take out place. No tables, no setup. We grabbed our pizzas and sat on a bench outside. And you know what? It didn’t take anything away from the experience. If anything, it made it even better. The pizza? Perfect. That kind of pizza where after the first bite you just look at each other and smile. We tried almost everything and somehow, each one was better than the last. Sometimes the plan fails… but takes you exactly where you’re supposed to be.
Olha Zaitseva★★★★★

Essential Tips for Enjoying Pizza in Rouen

To make the most of your culinary adventure in Normandy’s capital, a little local knowledge goes a long way. While pizza is a universally loved food, dining out in France often follows a different rhythm than in other parts of the world. Understanding the local dining culture will help you secure a table at the most popular spots and enjoy your meal like a true Rouennais.

Book Ahead for Dinner Service
Many of the best pizzerias in Rouen are small, intimate spaces that fill up quickly, especially on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. French dining culture is leisurely, so tables rarely turn over quickly. If you have your heart set on a specific restaurant, calling ahead or reserving online is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

Mind the French Service Hours
Unlike some international cities where you can grab a pizza at 4 PM, kitchens in Rouen typically close between lunch and dinner service. Most pizzerias will stop serving lunch around 2:00 PM or 2:30 PM and will not reopen for dinner until 7:00 PM. Plan your sightseeing schedule accordingly to avoid getting caught hungry during the "coupure."

Embrace the Local Norman Toppings
While a classic Margherita is a great benchmark for quality, don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Rouen’s proximity to agricultural hubs means you will often find pies topped with local Andouille de Vire, Neufchâtel cheese, or caramelized apples. Trying a pizza with a Norman twist offers a unique flavor profile you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

Look for the Wood-Fired Ovens
The secret to the best crust in Rouen often lies in the oven. Look for restaurants that advertise "au feu de bois" (wood-fired). The high heat and smoky char produced by these ovens create a texture and flavor that electric or gas ovens simply cannot replicate. It is usually a strong indicator of a chef who takes their craft seriously.

Check for Lunchtime Formulas
If you are looking to enjoy high-quality pizza on a budget, visit during the midday meal. Many top-tier pizzerias offer a "Formule Midi" (lunch set menu) that includes a pizza, a drink, and sometimes a dessert or coffee for a significantly reduced price compared to ordering à la carte in the evening.
