12 Pharmacies in Seville Historic Centre

Finding a reliable pharmacy in an unfamiliar city often becomes a priority when you least expect it. Whether you have run out of essential medication, need pediatric supplies for a tired child, or simply require sunscreen after a long day of sightseeing, knowing where to go saves valuable time. In Seville’s historic centre, the dense network of narrow streets and plazas means pharmacies are rarely far away, but the specific opening hours and locations can be tricky to navigate without local insight.

The historic district, encompassing landmarks like the Cathedral, the Alcázar, and the winding alleys of Santa Cruz, is well-served by health services. Unlike sprawling suburbs, this area combines traditional, family-run apothecaries with modern health hubs that cater to both residents and the millions of tourists who visit annually. Many of these establishments have adapted to international needs, with staff who often speak English and are familiar with European prescription equivalencies.

Understanding the Spanish pharmacy system is crucial for visitors. While large "farmacias" operate similarly to those in other European countries, you will not find major over-the-counter medications on supermarket shelves; everything is centralized in these specialized shops. They are easily identifiable by their illuminated green crosses, which glow brightly against the historic stone facades at night.

For travelers dealing with blisters from walking the cobblestones, allergies, or sudden colds, the pharmacists in Seville are highly trained professionals. They are legally empowered to provide advice and dispense many medications that might require a doctor’s visit in other countries. This makes the local pharmacy a first point of contact for minor ailments, often saving you a trip to a medical center.

However, not every pharmacy keeps the same hours. While standard business hours generally run from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM, the historic centre hosts several "Farmacias de Guardia" (duty pharmacies). These are designated to stay open 24 hours a day or through the night to ensure that urgent medical needs are met regardless of the hour.

Navigating the labyrinthine streets of the old town while searching for an open door can be stressful, especially late at night. To help you locate medical supplies quickly and efficiently, we have curated a list of the most accessible and highly regarded pharmacies located within the heart of the city.

Good selection and better prices than surrounding pharmacies - I went to several in the area and also compared to the online city pharmacy in Paris, finding this to be the best (within an euro or so). They help you with the tax refund process. The pharmacists are helpful and answer questions you may have, but also do not follow you around or keep hovering so you can take your time. The only thing I would have liked is to have been offered some samples, since some pharmacies do that, but not a big deal at the end of the day.

I bought it as a gift, but when the carrier was wet, it was a defective product with the ampoule broken in the first place. The luggage is covered with sticky liquid from the ampoule, and other gifts are also stained with ampoule liquid, so the value of the gift has gone down. I came from far away from Korea and had the worst experience.

I spent 67.9 euros and got FAKE Filorga cream. Can someone tell me why there is a Mandarin name printed on the bottle? The bottles were also very dirty. So fake
Catrin Prior★★★★★
We were looking for a travel sized moisturiser which they didn’t have, so they gave us a free sample size. Very helpful and generous. Will be returning for future pharmaceuticals

Absolutely slow! Stayed waiting to pay for 10 minutes and then just left. Part of customer service is to enable people to pay for the product in an expedient manner.

On January 5 at 9:51 a.m., I purchased a patch priced at €17.48. The shop owner told me that the card payment did not go through and asked me to use another card. After returning to Korea and checking my statements, I found that both cards were charged. Please help resolve this issue.

Mia Venalainen★☆☆☆☆
Extremely rude service and simply refused to help just because i don't speak Spanish well. I have had no issues collecting my prescription in another pharmacy but this one straight up said they cannot access my details and refused to advise how i can organise the medication that should be automatically on my tarjeta sanitaria. Edit: the pharmacy along the same road had no issues viewing the information from my tarjeta sanitaria, which leadsbme to believe the lady in this one refused to help me just because she didnt feel like it. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour!
Tobias Thiel★☆☆☆☆
Most terrible service I have ever experienced in a pharmacy. Saleswoman physically pushed me aside twice while I looked at products in a shelf. No apology when I politely voiced my dissatisfaction. When I came to pay, she kept chatting forever with a known customer. Avoid at all costs, there is a pharmacy at every corner in Sevilla!
A. R (arbi_xdd)★★★★★
Nice and quick service. We just needed mosquito spray and got one for before and one for after 😅
Armin Sollberger★★★★★
Excellent service. Friendly staff and helpful advice. I'll definitely be back. A pharmacy as it should be. Perfect service, friendly people, and good advice. I'd like to come back. This is the kind of pharmacy I expect.
Carmen Muñiz★★★★★
Marta and Rocío are lovely, very professional, and incredibly friendly! I was looking for Tegaderm for burns, and after visiting more than 15 pharmacies, I finally found it here, and they even helped me apply it. I definitely recommend them! Thank you for your help! 😊

Very great pharmacy, the employee are really friendly and helpful. They have been the kindest and most usefull pharmacists around!
Raquel Vg★★★★★
I found this pharmacy through Instagram. I find their advice very helpful. I decided to place a small order for a conditioner I needed since the minimum order value for free shipping was lower than at other pharmacies. The order arrived perfectly. It included samples, a personalized note, and smelled wonderful. The order arrived quickly. It was delivered via express mail. I will definitely buy online again because the service was excellent.
M P★☆☆☆☆
It's not my usual pharmacy, but I bought a 300g tub of Nutribén rice cream at a much higher price than I usually pay at other pharmacies. I usually buy it for €3.70, and at other pharmacies it's €4.30. But Farmacia +Alameda charged me €5.25 for the same package, same weight. If my daughter didn't need it, I would have left it. What a rip-off!
Enes Şensoy★★★★★
Friendly staff and very helpful. I found all the vitamins I was looking for there. Muchas gracias por todo!

This was the rudest interaction I’ve ever had at a pharmacy. The old lady in there acted like I was an absolute idiot for not having my name written on a prescription and continued to berate me for it. I left and got the medicine I needed at another pharmacy where they kindly handed me a pen and I wrote it down and got what I needed. This place is a joke.
Angel Martín★☆☆☆☆
They usually give you headaches when things are not straightforward. Not the most helpful professionals. I'd just recommend them for easy things like a toothbrush or similar.
Gloria Carandina★★★★★
I got cistitis meanwhile I was travelling, Andrea the pharmacist who served me was so nice and very helpful, definitely go there if you need help

Can’t even sell decent bandages for wounds
Osmary Gutiérrez★☆☆☆☆
I went to get an antihistamine for my baby because he had an allergic reaction, but I only had photos of the prescription, not a physical copy. The guy who helped me was incredibly rude and simply ignored me. It was like my son's airways were getting blocked; he couldn't care less. He's definitely not human.

24/7 while visiting Seville had to rush to the pharmacy around 10:30 PM and to my surprise it is open for 24/7 and got the medicine I was looking for from the pharmacist. It was a great help. Had it been London I have to wait for next day for the Pharmacy to open to get something except Saturday and Sundays

Very recommended!! Lovely people and they can assist you with everything you need. Very big farmacy with lots of medicaments available. Tip top! Thank you Maria!
Kevin Visser★★★★★
Felt really welcome and they helped me very well with the products I needed. Would definitely recommend this Farmacia.
Jeremy Hall★★★★★
Very friendly and helpful service. English speaking friendly too.
Rocío Mena★★☆☆☆
I don't think it's a bad pharmacy; the staff are friendly. And well, I don't buy that much anyway, just what I need, so I can't really comment on prices. But I did see something that I found truly worrying: they were piercing a little girl's ear with a piercing gun, which is known to be terrible for the skin and cartilage of the ear, although it's still not illegal. They weren't wearing gloves either. What a way to do it, man! And they must have charged the poor mother 20 euros. Just because it's a pharmacy doesn't mean it's better. Go get it done at a place where they use professional equipment and follow the hygiene and sanitation standards required by law.

Went in there and given wrong instructions by man on how to use the medication, quite dangerous, would not recommend.
Kaitlyn S★☆☆☆☆
The pharmacists at this pharmacy would not accept my prescription for antibiotics that I needed when I got sick while traveling to Spain. They quickly stated they would not accept a prescription another country, despite EU law mandating prescriptions from other EU states need to be honored. We found a much better pharmacy nearby. I would not recommend this pharmacy for anyone needing an urgent and necessary medication.
Laurie McIver★★★★★
Great pharmacy. Turned up with some issues from walking so much sightseeing, didn't speak much Spanish either, and they were able to get us what we needed quickly.
Elena Cat★☆☆☆☆
Customer service is 0. They'll get through to you in less than a minute if you have any questions, and they're always bored of serving customers. I'll never go there again.
Roberto J. Keaney★☆☆☆☆
I went looking for generic 400mg ibuprofen, and the owner, acting very suspiciously, sold me an extremely expensive brand-name version with arginine that I never asked for. He seemed more interested in getting money out of me than helping me: he didn't show me the price until after I'd been paid. If you're looking for a reputable and transparent pharmacy, avoid this one: they'll take every opportunity to squeeze every last penny out of you.

It said they were open on Sunday, but it turned out that wasn't true due to a mistake. They apologized for it, so 5 stars for their excellent service.
Carlos Muñoz Barba★★★★★
Sunday, raining, 8:00 PM. I went in to ask about an antibiotic cream for my foot, and the pharmacist, incredibly attentive and friendly, gave me all sorts of recommendations. Knowing I probably wouldn't end up buying anything, since I didn't have a prescription for antibiotics. She acted out of pure kindness. I wish there were more people like her, willing to help others without expecting anything in return. Long live kind people!
Taylor★★★★☆
It's one of my trusted local pharmacies, and the pharmacists are absolutely wonderful. They've been so kind and thoughtful towards me and my situation. The kind of thing you remember. They're so compassionate.
Carlos★★☆☆☆
We asked for a medication by its active ingredient, and he gave us a brand-name one that was twice as expensive. When he saw my puzzled face, he explained that it was more expensive because it was over-the-counter (not because it was a brand name...). Maybe it was the only one he had, I don't know...

Pablo Brisson Aguilar★★★★★
I've worked in customer service for many years, and the treatment I received today was extraordinary. It's been years since I've been treated so warmly and personally by a professional in this field. I was surprised by the kindness, warmth, and care with which she treated me, without any ulterior motive. She was very careful, separating the medications that could be mixed and those that couldn't (with a logical explanation of why), and even used pen and paper to keep track of times and medications—a serious matter for me since it was for my partner's surgery. You can't imagine the peace of mind that people like her provide when working with the public. Thank you!

I just called to ask about a prescription, and the person who answered said they couldn't look into it because they had 20 people in the store. I said okay, fine, and they hung up on me rudely without even saying goodbye. I wonder why they even took my call if they can't answer the phone... at least say goodbye; it doesn't cost anything to be polite. Best wishes, and have a good night shift.

Jose Miguel Rodriguez Bianquetti★★★★★
The service from Jaime and the rest of the staff was exceptional. I urgently needed a prescription medication from them, and they were the only ones who gave me a quick solution; the other pharmacies told me it would take days. Furthermore, I've been using orthotics for many years, and this is my trusted orthopedics store: the quality of the materials and the service are top-notch.
maria josé gutierrez★★★★★
My highest praise goes to the professionalism and empathy of the staff at this pharmacy, starting with Lucía, Dani, Irene, Hermi, Jaime... and please excuse me if I've forgotten anyone. I've been going to this pharmacy for many years and have never had a problem; on the contrary, they've always made things easy for the customer. Thank you always for your attention.
Jordi Femenía★★★★★
Very kind. They gave me great guidance.

Practical Tips for Visiting Pharmacies in Seville

Navigating healthcare in a foreign country requires a bit of local knowledge to ensure a smooth experience. Whether you are filling a prescription from home or seeking over-the-counter relief, how you approach the pharmacy can impact the speed and success of your visit. The following tips are designed to help you communicate effectively and understand the local protocols, ensuring you get the care you need without unnecessary delays.

Understand the "Guardia" System
If you need medication late at night or on a Sunday, do not expect every green cross to be illuminated. Pharmacies rotate their off-hours duties. The easiest way to find the nearest open location is to look at the door of any closed pharmacy; Spanish law requires them to post a sign listing the nearest "Farmacia de Guardia" currently on duty. You can also check local newspapers or the official College of Pharmacists of Seville website for the daily roster.

Bring Your EHIC or Travel Insurance Details
If you are an EU citizen, presenting your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is essential for accessing prescriptions at the same subsidized rates as locals. For non-EU visitors, keep your travel insurance policy number handy. While the cost of medication in Spain is generally lower than in the US, having your documentation ready helps the pharmacist process any necessary paperwork or advise you on claiming reimbursement.

Know the Generic Name of Your Medication
Brand names vary significantly between countries. A medication you know by a specific brand name in the UK, US, or Germany may be sold under a completely different name in Spain. Before traveling, ask your doctor or search online for the "active ingredient" or generic name (e.g., Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Loratadine). This allows the Spanish pharmacist to match your needs accurately, even if the packaging looks different.

Expect a Consultation for Stronger Medications
While you can buy basics like ibuprofen or antihistamines over the counter, anything requiring a higher dosage or specific antibiotics will strictly require a prescription from a Spanish doctor. Pharmacists in Seville are meticulous about regulation and will not break protocol. If you need a prescription, they can often direct you to the nearest public health center (Centro de Salud) or a private clinic where you can see a doctor quickly, often within the same day.

Look for the "Homeopatía" and "Dermocosmética" Sections
Seville pharmacies are not just for emergencies; they are also retail spaces for high-end skincare and wellness. If you forgot your facial cleanser or need specific sun protection for the intense Andalusian sun, look for pharmacies that advertise "Dermocosmética." These shops offer premium brands like La Roche-Posay, Avène, and ISDIN, often with pharmacists on hand to give professional skin advice tailored to the local climate.

Carry Cash or a Physical Card for Small Purchases
While most pharmacies in the historic centre are equipped with modern card terminals, occasionally the network can fail in the thick stone walls of older buildings. While contactless and Apple Pay are widely accepted, it is wise to carry a small amount of cash or a physical credit card. This ensures that if the digital systems are down, you can still pay for essential items like water, bandages, or fever reducers without hassle.

The density of pharmacies in Seville’s historic centre means that help is usually just a short walk away, no matter where you are staying or exploring. The pharmacists here are accustomed to dealing with a diverse, international clientele and are generally patient and willing to bridge language gaps using translation apps or basic English. Their role in the community is highly respected, and they take their duty of care seriously.

Ultimately, a visit to one of these pharmacies can often be a surprisingly pleasant experience, offering a glimpse into the local way of life. Whether you are purchasing a local remedy, seeking advice for a minor ailment, or simply stocking up on essentials, you can trust that the professionals behind the counter in the heart of Seville are well-equipped to get you back on your feet and enjoying the beauty of the city.
