Finding a trustworthy pharmacy is essential whether you live in Jerez de la Frontera or are just visiting this beautiful corner of Andalusia. From managing chronic conditions to picking up emergency supplies for a sick child, having reliable access to medication and professional health advice brings peace of mind.
The pharmacy landscape in Jerez is diverse, ranging from historic city-center establishments to modern health hubs in residential neighborhoods. While the city operates under Spain’s excellent national healthcare system, navigating the local pharmacy model—where pharmacists often serve as the first point of contact for minor ailments—requires a bit of local knowledge.
Many visitors are surprised to learn that Spanish pharmacies offer a higher level of direct consultation than in many other countries. Here, the pharmacist can diagnose minor conditions, recommend over-the-counter treatments, and advise when it is necessary to escalate your care to a medical doctor.
This guide is designed to help you understand the pharmacy system in Jerez, including opening hours, the "guardia" duty system, and what to expect when you walk through the door. We have also curated a list of reputable locations where you can expect professional service and well-stocked shelves.
Whether you need a specific brand of sunscreen, a refill for a prescription issued abroad, or simply a paracetamol, knowing where to go saves valuable time. Below, you will find a selection of notable pharmacies serving the Jerez community.

I'm giving them 5 stars because they're so sturdy, you don't need to pay to weigh yourself—they're the kind you've always known.
Plus, I grew up around here and I'm quite fond of this area, and no one has ever spoken badly of me here, so 10/10.

This review is for Maria. I came in for some face creams because I had doubts about my skin, which has rosacea or atopic dermatitis, and she served me in a very kind and professional manner. Thank you so much ♥️

I'm posting this comment because of a particular situation that happened to a friend with the salesman Juan Manuel. He treated her in a demeaning way, making a derogatory comment. Here's what happened: she went to ask about a replacement part for her glucometer, and he dismissively told her that she didn't have the money to buy the device but did have the part. She was shocked at the time and didn't complain immediately. However, the next day she went back to the store to inquire, and all they gave her was a forced apology. They also minimized her situation, asking why she hadn't complained right then and there, without understanding that the negative experience had left her in a state of shock, and she could only process it at home. I sincerely hope they improve their customer service because this kind of treatment is unacceptable. Thank you!

There are pharmacy technicians who don't know how to treat customers. She was going to give me the medications listed on my health card without telling me I was missing some; I had to ask. When I asked, she said I had to order them. And then I waited for a while. The woman seemed a bit tired.
María García★☆☆☆☆
At first it worked very well, but for the last 6 months (or so it seems) that I've been coming here, they never have the medication I'm coming for, no matter what it is, and mind you, they're not special medications or anything out of the ordinary... I always come for nothing, but that's definitely over.

I was very surprised by the beautiful presentation of the package, with a personalized handwritten card and complimentary pharmacy samples. I also ordered a 750ml bottle, and since they didn't have that size available, they sent me a 1-liter bottle for the same price. Excellent service.

I want to thank the team at the Porvera pharmacy in Jerez de la Frontera for their professionalism and, above all, their kindness. I live and work in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and my mother lives very close to this pharmacy.
My mother called me crying and very upset. I contacted the team, and they provided both the medication and the immediate home delivery service.
Thank you so much, and congratulations on your work and your kindness.
Gloria Diz★☆☆☆☆
The staff at the pharmacy are excellent; they go out of their way to help and provide the best possible service. This star isn't for them, but for the owner/manager. I don't know what she is. I find it shameful and outrageous that employees are treated rudely, disrespectfully, or in a raised voice. But doing it in front of customers is just plain rude. Perhaps this person needs to feel superior to someone else, but all she's doing is revealing her true colors and, above all, making the customer uncomfortable and completely undermining her credibility.
María Ángeles Guillen Jaén★★★★★
The service was exceptional, and the pharmacy was fantastic. It has parking so you can go any day. I love the staff; their kindness and understanding give me a sense of peace of mind that deserves a perfect score.
I could name countless people, but I only remember one: Alejandro, who helped me on June 26, 2025, when I was discharged from the hospital. He was amazing. Thank you for everything.
Alberto Gfigueroa★☆☆☆☆
This star is dedicated to the "Manager or Boss." She should take a good look at herself and act like one, instead of speaking ill of her employees when the workers are all fantastic.

I arrived with a handwritten prescription, corrected by the family doctor, signed (endorsed), stamped, and everything complete. They told me the signatures didn't match and refused to dispense the antibiotic for the 78-year-old woman who needed it... I, the family doctor, issued the prescription myself. I showed my ID and medical license. They told me the signatures didn't match (I don't have the ability to clone them).
I left without the medication. A terrible attitude and zero cooperation among colleagues. I went to another pharmacy afterward, and they had no problem. DISAPPOINTING

The prices they charge are outrageous; some non-prescription medications are more than double the price. Be careful, you're in for a shock.

Scammed.
I'm lactose intolerant, so buying lactose-digesting pills is part of my routine, as is keeping up with prices.
I sent a friend to pick up an order and they charged him €26.95 for pills that I always pay €13 for. I thought he was joking until he gave me the receipt.
I went to the pharmacy to see if there was a mistake, and they'd charged him twice. The girl there told me no, that the charge was correct, and that they'd bought them for €15. I explained that I always buy them at the pharmacy for €13 or €14 and showed her what they normally cost on Google, which is that price. Her response was that I had to add VAT (to the €15). Let's assume the VAT rate is the highest at 21%, which would make a total of €18. (I don't know if it's 4% instead of 21%)
Someone please explain to me the €27 rip-off I've been scammed out of. The worst part is that I told a friend who's also lactose intolerant, and the same thing happened to him at this pharmacy with Lactoben pills.
Shameful.

After having a root canal, my dentist refused to sell me the antibiotic after giving me the prescription. I've been charged double what I'd pay for the same products at any online pharmacy. I understand the price goes up for same-day delivery, but €25 extra seems like an outrage.
Raúl Rodríguez Heras★★★★★
The staff were very friendly and patient; they gave me prices for some products and answered some questions I had. The store itself is spacious, well-located, clean, and well-organized. I really liked it and I shop here from time to time.
CAM★☆☆☆☆
They're overpriced; it's advisable to ask for the price of everything because they don't give you a receipt, only a copy if you pay by card...
High prices; the same medications are cheaper at other pharmacies. For example, hydrogel drops cost €18 at this pharmacy, while I've bought them for €9.90 at another.
Plus, they're almost always out of stock, and you have to come back later to pick it up.
montse rosa★☆☆☆☆
Hello, on Saturday night I went to the pharmacy, and unfortunately, I tripped over a drain cover right in front of the entrance. I hurt my hand and knees, and I was bleeding. I told the pharmacist, a woman named Gema (it says so on the receipt), but she ignored me. I told her three times, and she still didn't offer any help. My fingers were bleeding. I'm filing a report because I don't think it was proper treatment, and it was very inhumane of her. This isn't right. I bought the medication and left, but I assure you I will never return!
Because of her lack of solidarity and empathy.

They offer the option to pre-order pharmacy products via WhatsApp with home delivery or in-store pickup, or simply check product availability through the same channel before making a purchase.

Without a doubt, this is my trusted pharmacy. I've been going to this pharmacy for many years, and honestly, I couldn't be more grateful for the service I receive every time I visit. Marcos, along with the rest of the team, has always treated me with impeccable professionalism and a genuine warmth that is truly appreciated. They've helped not only me but also several family members, always with patience, clarity, and a genuine interest in our well-being. It's a team that inspires confidence from the very first moment, and that's why I know for sure that I'll continue to rely on this pharmacy as my go-to for everything I need. It's wonderful to find places where you feel not only cared for but also looked after.
Josan Gómez★★★★★
Highly recommended pharmacy. The staff is very friendly, quick, and always tries to help you with what you need. It's great to find a place where you're treated well and don't have to wait forever.
Carmen Tellez Perez★★★★★
I'm giving it 5 stars because I can't give more. I've been going to this pharmacy for many years, and I've been through many difficult times with illness. Every time I've gone, I've received excellent service, especially from Marcos. He always has a kind word, a smile from the moment you walk in, and is always attentive, asking how I'm feeling and encouraging me because everything is going to be alright, which is truly appreciated. Thank God everything turned out well, and as usual, my husband and I went to pick up some medication. We told Marcos that I got it, and you can see when someone is genuinely happy and pleased to see you well. He's a polite person, answers any questions you have, and helps you in any way he can. I've met many people working at the pharmacy, and I have nothing bad to say about the pharmacists, but I've been dealing with a girl named Diana for a while now, and I have to say it's wonderful to see her, her cheerfulness every time she helps me, and how happy she is when she sees me come in, whether I'm alone, with my husband, or with my little girl (four-legged ♥️). Besides treating me well, I love it when she checks on my girl, asking how she is. That's when she's won my heart because you can tell she loves seeing her and adores furry friends. Diana is a very kind-hearted person, because that's how we animal lovers are. I'm so grateful for her kindness and the joy she radiates. Keep it up, beautiful! With that friendly approach and the affection you show, you'll go far, and I'll be so happy for you. I believe good people always reap good things because you reap what you sow. Oh, and when I go next time I'll show you my little girl in her Chucky costume on my phone 😃🥰 Kisses 😘😘😘😘 Thank you for your professionalism.

Monday, December 9, 2024, 3:15 PM. Mari, a very nice sales assistant, was working alone because her colleague was at lunch. After about five minutes, her colleague came out of a room where she had been eating. There were six people waiting in line, plus the customer they were serving. This person came out and, in front of all the customers present, said to Mari, "What's wrong, Mari? Aren't we eating today? That's ridiculous! Why don't you block the door?" Listen, sales assistant (I don't know your name), I also work with the public, and when we have to work holidays, we can't do anything else. We need to have a little more empathy; people who go to a pharmacy to buy things aren't exactly bored.
I know the pharmacy won't respond to this negative review because they only respond to positive reviews. But anyway, I've said it so everyone knows that some sales assistants don't take working holidays very well. Happy Holidays.

Mauricio Mateos★☆☆☆☆
I know it's not the fault of the staff. But if you're served at the front desk, and the girl has to go inside to get something, they either ring a bell on the wall to her right or simply call a colleague over to keep an eye on you. This has happened to me twice, and I consider it absolutely shameful. They should be more considerate and act differently. I hope I never have to go back.
Pepi Seda Delgado★★★★★
I want to thank the entire team at this pharmacy for their professionalism and kindness. They always greet me with a smile, patiently answer my questions, and offer clear and honest advice. It's clear they care about their customers' well-being. AN EXCELLENT TEAM! Every time I walk through the pharmacy doors, they always ask about my daughter and how I am. I think the whole team is wonderful!
Juan Lopez Galisteo★★★★★
A spectacular pharmacy, unparalleled service. And always ready to help and advise you on any questions.
And I have to say that one of the negative reviews wasn't as the customer described it. I was there, and it wasn't the employee who responded; it was me who said he was rude and a despot, and that there were plenty of pharmacies in Jerez, so if he didn't like it, he should go to another one because there was no need for him to be rude when there were so many nearby. Needless to say, he walked in already showing signs of being rude and a despot.
Sometimes we customers don't think we have the right to everything, and we have to remember that behind the counter there are human beings, not machines to whom you can afford to make obscene and hurtful comments. For me, it's one of the best pharmacies I've ever found, and the staff are incredibly charismatic and empathetic. Admirable employees.
ÀNGEL SÀNCHEZ★☆☆☆☆
This isn't the first time I've had an incident with one of the girls who works at the pharmacy, and I don't mean to say they're all the same, because some are very respectful and do their jobs very well. But what happened tonight, January 29, 2026, at approximately 8:10 PM, is inexplicable. It's outrageous that an employee would speak rudely to a customer. This morning I went to buy three boxes of RYBELSUS 14 and two boxes of SEVIKAR HCT 20MG. She told me that at the moment she only had one box of Sevikar, and I told her to order another one and that I would pick up the remaining four boxes in the afternoon. When I arrived to pick them up, she told me she only had two boxes of RYBELSUS 14 and no Sevikar at all. I was furious because I don't understand the lack of interest and professionalism. I told her to hold onto the one she had and order another one. The young woman who served me this afternoon, after I complained about the incident, acted with a despotic and rude attitude, telling me: "If you have complaints about this pharmacy, you know what to do." I replied: "What do you mean by that?" Although I understood perfectly that she meant I should go to another pharmacy, as there are more in Jerez. I responded that I didn't think her boss would approve of her comment, especially since I'm a monthly customer and spend over 300 euros on medications every month, in addition to other pharmacy purchases.
According to information I've received from others, this isn't the first time a customer has had problems with some of the employees, which leaves much to be desired in terms of customer service.

We went yesterday because I'd been feeling unwell and very tired all day. A fantastic pharmacy, fully stocked and with incredibly personalized service. There's hardly any queue to be served, and you feel the warmth and friendliness of each of the staff members from the very first moment. Special mention goes to Nieves, Nerea, and Olga for their outstanding attention and dedication; their hard work is evident from a mile away. I highly recommend it.

What differentiates one pharmacy from another? You can buy the same medications at all of them; the difference lies in the staff. At this pharmacy, I've never seen a single unfriendly person. Everyone's service is always excellent. No one should be upset if they can't get medication without a prescription; they're complying with the law. If you're angry, complain to the legislator.
I couldn't be happier with the service from ALL the staff at this pharmacy.

Without a doubt, the best pharmacy in Jerez. All the staff are incredibly friendly, both those who work directly with the public and those who don't, always willing to help and making everything easy: they deliver orders to homes, are very quick to order something they don't have in stock, are very pleasant and friendly with customers, and give excellent advice. I'd also like to mention the clinics, orthopedics, opticians, etc. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend all the services offered by the Gómez Beser group.

I went to the pharmacy today with a prescription from my French doctor, dated December 2025, renewable for three months. The pharmacy assistant refused to dispense the allopurinol I've been prescribed for a long time to treat my gout attacks, which are very painful, as everyone knows. She claimed that in Spain, prescriptions are only valid for 10 days! I go to Spain very regularly, and no pharmacist has ever refused to dispense my medication, provided I pay, of course. Is failure to provide assistance not a legal obligation in Spain?

In Spain, pharmacies are not located inside supermarkets or big-box stores as they often are elsewhere. Instead, they are independent storefronts marked by a prominent illuminated green cross, usually accompanied by the word "Farmacia." Keep an eye out for this symbol when walking through the streets of Jerez.
2. Understand the "Farmacia de Guardia" System
Pharmacies in Jerez generally close for the afternoon siesta (typically from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM) and close at night. However, there is always a designated "Farmacia de Guardia" (duty pharmacy) open 24 hours. You can find the current duty pharmacy listed on the door of any closed pharmacy or via local municipal websites and apps.
3. Prescription Requirements
If you have a prescription from a Spanish doctor, it is usually electronic and linked to your health card. However, if you are visiting from abroad, a paper prescription from your home country may not be legally valid in Spain. If you need a specific medication, it is best to visit a local "Centro de Salud" (health center) to see a doctor who can issue a valid local prescription, or ask the pharmacist for an over-the-counter alternative.
4. Don’t Underestimate the Pharmacist’s Role
In Jerez, pharmacists are highly trained healthcare professionals. For minor issues like insect bites, sunburn, stomach upsets, or colds, you can simply walk in, describe your symptoms, and ask for a recommendation. This saves you the time and cost of visiting a doctor for non-serious conditions.
5. Check for the "Parafarmacia" Section
Many pharmacies in Jerez double as "parafarmacias," selling high-quality cosmetic products, dermo-cosmetics, baby formula, orthopedics, and nutritional supplements. If you are looking for a specific skincare brand or a specialized vitamin, a local pharmacy is often the best place to find it.
Having a reliable pharmacy nearby is a cornerstone of feeling settled and secure in any city. Jerez de la Frontera boasts a network of dedicated professionals who are accustomed to serving both the local population and the many tourists who pass through the region. Whether you are dealing with a minor travel ailment or managing a long-term health plan, the pharmacists here are ready to assist with expertise and discretion.
Remember to check the siesta hours when planning your visit, and always look for the green cross to find your nearest point of care. With the right information, accessing health services in Jerez is a straightforward and reassuring experience.
