Finding a memorable meal in Cannes often conjures images of fresh seafood terraces and Michelin-starred tasting menus along La Croisette. Yet beyond the glitz of the film festival, the city has quietly cultivated a vibrant and innovative plant-based dining scene. Whether you are a committed vegan, a curious flexitarian, or simply seeking a lighter meal that does not compromise on flavor, the culinary landscape here has evolved far beyond the simple side salad.
The demand for high-quality vegetarian and vegan cuisine in the South of France has surged in recent years. Chefs are responding by embracing the region’s abundant Provençal produce, transforming sun-ripened vegetables, legumes, and herbs into dishes that are both artistic and deeply satisfying. This shift means that dining without meat in Cannes is no longer a challenge, but rather an opportunity to experience the Côte d’Azur’s bounty in a new light.
However, navigating a city known for its luxury dining can be tricky when you have specific dietary requirements. Many traditional brasseries still lean heavily on fish and meat, making it difficult to discern which venues offer genuinely thoughtful vegetarian options versus those offering a single token dish. Knowing where to go ensures you spend less time scanning menus and more time enjoying the Mediterranean atmosphere.
We have curated a selection of the best spots that prioritize flavor, atmosphere, and creativity. From cozy organic cafes tucked away on the historic Rue Hoche to elegant restaurants offering dedicated vegetarian tasting menus, this guide covers the full spectrum. Each recommendation has been selected for its commitment to quality ingredients and its ability to provide a truly excellent dining experience for the plant-based traveler.
Whether you are visiting during the chaotic energy of the festival or the quiet calm of the winter months, these establishments offer consistency and culinary excellence. Prepare to discover that the vegetarian restaurants in Cannes are setting a standard that rivals the city’s traditional gastronomic heavyweights.

Always very happy to find a fully plant-based place (with so many gluten free options as well!) so we were very happy to support the business. It breaks my heart to say the food was not great all - not bad either, but really didn't stand out. Would not recommend the avocado toast and the croque monsieur, they were both really bland. Maybe worth trying some of the other options!

It was so nice to finally have vegan food while travelling around the South of France. Every restaurant literally serves pasta , cheese with pasta so to finally find some different food that tasted great so like heaven. It was fresh, quick service and very tasty. Would recommend every vegetarian or vegan to try here.

Love this place
Full of flavours. Full of peace
Outstanding service always
Very healthy choices. Will always come back when in Cannes

Outstanding! The is THE BEST plant-based place in Cannes. Loaded with great ingredients, an interesting menu serving what could be considered a conventional offering, but with a much more sophisticated approach. Absolutely delicious burgers, amazing shakes! I totally recommend the smoky bbq burger and the triple choc shake! If I lived in Cannes, and was not just visiting, this would be a weekly regular place to celebrate being a vegan.

I love this place! I had the kebab one day and the bbq burger the next day. The burger is the best vegan burger I have had in the 7 years I have been a vegan, and I even had to order a second one for takeaway so I could eat it again later because it was so good. My girlfriend ordered the bagel fumé which I got to taste and that was really tasty as well! The owner is super friendly and the vibe/atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Would highly recommend!

A fresh and healthy cafe which is also a vegan/vegetarian haven when in Cannes. Beautiful fresh salads, brunch options, smoothies and desserts. Very friendly staff. A must visit!

It’s a dream for celiacs. Entire gluten free menu to choose from. Although a bit expensive, each coffee cost us 5.5€, whereas other coffee shops or bakeries offered coffee + croissant for 3€
Nevertheless, all we ate was delicious. The Ube cookie quite unique and the sweet potato waffle quite a healthy option compared to regular ones. Even though we chose the sweet option, it didn’t feel heavy at all.
Although having traditional French gluten free baked goods, like croissants, pain au chocolat, etc would be desirable.
We’ll come back for more cookies!

I had a wonderful experience at this Lebanese restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors and beautifully prepared dishes. Every bite was full of freshness and tradition, from the appetizers to the main courses.
Kaline was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing dinner with friends or family.
A great place to discover Lebanese cuisine. I highly recommend it and will definitely come back!

Having really mixed emotions about this spot.
The host/owner we met at the farmers market. After receiving an invite to dine at the restaurant that evening, we looked it up, saw the reviews and decided to go.
We were welcomed by the same gentlemen we met at the farmers market and were immediately seated. He was super kind and inviting. Restaurant was small, but super comfortable. Decor and music definitely complemented the mood.
We sat down and after looking at the menu for half a second he asked if we were ready to order and asked if he could make a selection for us based on his opinion. We said sure (big mistake). We ended up receiving a ton of food, more than we (2 adults and a younger child) could eat and certainly not what we’d have ordered if we ordered on our own. He described what he was thinking and it was a bit hard to follow coupled with we didn’t think we’d be receding full orders of what he rattled off - tourist tax I suppose.
The food was mixed - given that we literally tried EVERYTHING on the menu, we have a good sense.
Falafel was okay, a bit dry and lacked flavor
Hummus was good although we like a bit more garlic
Baba Ganoush was tasty
All the cheese dishes we ordered were excellent. Would definitely order again.
Chicken both shredded and kabob were well seasoned, but pretty dry.
Dolmas were tasty!
Feta cheese salad was good. Really tasty.
Batata Harra - was okay, a little too greasy and not super harra (spicy)
Cigara and cheese pie - both good. Very tasty.
Overall, place is solid, food is mixed and it felt like a bit of a tourist trap. Recommend with hesitation.
Cristina Tolomeo★★★☆☆
Food was very good but a lot, we were expecting smaller portion and we were suggested more than we could ate with the 4 of us. We asked to get some left over to take away but they forgot some naan to pack. We had not agreed on a price upfront so we did not expect to pay 183€ with 4 people.it would have been better to suggest less at the begin and the refill if the case. He offered a home made sweet based on his mom recipe kindly asking to put a review before we got the bill.
Marta Āboltiņa★★★★★
We got the recommendation from Google Gemini asking for more healthy& tasty food options in Cannes and this popped up. It was definitely one of the best Lebanese food I have ever had, if not the best. The service was great throughout - even if all the tables were filled. Great humor all the way as well!

Incredible food and service!! It’s a fusion Mediterranean Algerian restaurant we ordered mama’s couscous with lamb neck and the duck + Kafka kebabs. I don’t usually like lamb but wow this lamb neck was on another level and the couscous was amazing!! The chickpeas were so fluffy and soft, we really weren’t sure what to expect but this blew our expectations out of the water. The owner is so friendly too even though we couldn’t speak French! Come try it out, you won’t regret it!
Alex Kagan★★★★★
Delicious food and extremely warm and welcoming owner. Mint tea was incredible, couscous plates were great, and the dessert crepe was amazing, not oily and not too sweet. The owner ran after us for 2 blocks because both of us forgot about our to-go containers. On top of all that, the price was very reasonable for everything. Would highly recommend.

Had a fantastic early evening meal here.
Had a starter of eggplant with cumin followed by the signature meat board. Chicken, Lamb and Kofta kebab (duck option). All very flavoursome and well prepared. Staff very attentive and welcoming. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

What a fantastic dining experience!
We ordered three different Moroccan meat dishes along with several traditional sides, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, authentic, and every bite was packed with taste.
What made the evening even more special was the hospitality. The owners were incredibly warm and engaging.
If you’re looking for authentic Moroccan cuisine, outstanding hospitality, and a memorable meal, this restaurant is well worth a visit!

Amazing Mediterranean food and service. Citronade and hummus were fantastic. Fresh dates and watermelon as well. One of the best finds on my trip to Cannes!

Paid €5.50 for a small cinnamon roll. the kind you'd find anywhere in France for €1.50 max. Taking advantage of the Cannes Film Festival crowd to triple the price is just plain dishonest. Disappointing.

One of the best restaurants in Cannes to have your breakfast. Many available items however they were really nice to to make some modification for me. Great quality of food and nice people.

We were looking for a sandwich or a little more; Jamin was nearby and had good reviews. We ended up with the daily special—crispy phyllo-wrapped feta with honey drizzle, on thin zucchini slices all on a bed of Tzatziki. It was amazing! Every element was perfect. The music welcome was very friendly—they found us a spot, suggested their refreshing lemon-mint water, and brought bread and then our food quickly. It’s a tiny place but worth a few minutes’ wait to get a table. The service was friendly and professional, and their English was excellent. We’d happily return again and again. We left with a small bag of their excellent Greek pastries.

Find the magic at this hidden gem, down a side street alley and go to Le Jardin Secret! Quaint and intimate bar/restaurant (outside patio) with decor that is warm and welcoming. It gives me speak-easy vibes! It was a complete surprise and an experience that made this solo-traveler feel incredibly welcomed. Sit with a glass of wine (or a Spritz!), order food (ravioli and hummus were delicious and so was the homemade dessert) and enjoy the vibes and the charisma of Max, who will make you feel right at home.

The place itself is really charming and great to enjoy with friends & family while sipping drinks. The staff is very friendly and thoughtful. Unfortunately we were not happy with the food. It was pretty expensive for the amount and was missing spices. It would be nice to have at least salt and pepper on the table to add if needed. Nevertheless it's one of the better places in Cannes.
Lorrie Zwer★★★★★
This is my first time in Cannes and I can’t imagine a place that is more opposite to the general mayhem of the advertising festival.
If you want a secluded place to enjoy the good weather and some tasty wine, then this is the place. It’s not fancy at all, so check yourself before you make the trip up the hill.
The hospitality, food, and wine are all worth the trip.

Le Jardin Secret is an absolute hidden gem in the heart of the old town. With its quirky garden in the back, you can get away from the hustle and bustle of le Souquet and enjoy a quiet and relaxed evening. The food is authentic and delicious, and the wine list is unparalleled. To top it all off, the owner Max and his staff are so friendly and make the whole experience worthwhile. A must when visiting Cannes.

I’m genuinely obsessed with this place. ❤️
As someone who loves food and truly appreciates great restaurants, Côte Jardin completely stole my heart.
The quality of the ingredients is outstanding, the creativity of the chef is inspiring, and every dish is beautifully balanced. Flavours, textures, presentation, that little touch of umami… everything feels thoughtful and intentional.
And the service? Simply exceptional. Warm, attentive, professional, yet natural. The kind of service that makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive.
Having a restaurant of this level right next to my home feels like a luxury. Beautiful atmosphere, excellent presentation, incredible cuisine, and a team that clearly loves what they do.
Thank you for such a wonderful experience. You’ve gained a loyal guest. See you again very soon. ✨

Today I had an amazing dinner at Côté Jardin. I loved the food it was very delicious. And Chef Steve is an artist, he personally comes to the table for his desserts. Every single person working there is a professional and I loved the way each of them connect with their guests it makes you feel like a family. The ambience is fabulous. Every single place of the restaurant shows the heart of Chef which is filled with a lot of love towards the food and their guests.
Overall it was a wonderful experience
And this place is a much recommended.

5 stars service thanks to Nora and her team, 5 stars food thanks to Steve and his team. Steve is a very very talented chef well known for his creativity, his high standards and his pursuit of excellence both in the products he uses and in the final results on the plate. Steve is among the greats yet he remains grounded and humble. Finally a real restaurant in Cannes.
Rob Schab★★☆☆☆
Everything was "ok". We had two different steak/beef dishes, both of which were well overcooked. The service is good but we showed towards the end of their day and it was clear they wanted us to leave since the second we got there. No background music, so the ambiance was a bit off. Quite expensive all things considered.
katsikins★☆☆☆☆
Really poor experience. The restaurant is situated in a very run down area. The ‘bar’ is very dated (a mere shelf with a few spirits), and every order was taken on scrap paper. The decor of the restaurant itself needs significant updating - it seems as if there is no attention to detail here. Our dishes were not worth the money at all. The gnocchi main in particular did not remotely resemble the picture provided on Google for this dish (see 3rd picture attached versus 2nd) and lacked basic seasoning. The gnocchi was swimming in tasteless cream sauce. It’s shocking that this restaurant has misleading great reviews as this was one of the worst restaurants I’ve eaten in. Avoid.

Very good and finally some food finesse in Cannes where food usually is (below) average. The owners are wonderful and we got special treatment when dining with two kids. Indeed we mentioned 2 days before and got kid friendly dishes (off menu). Menu is changing almost everyday and prices are reasonable. Good natural wines are dominating the list. Strongly recommended.
Minus note; the bread…
Jakub Čech★★★★☆
Very small bistro. We shared three dishes. Two were amazing, but the beef tartare was unfortunately not to my taste. You definitely need a reservation in advance. The only reason for the 4-star rating is that the reservation system holds a €30 deposit per person on your card, which is quite annoying.

This restaurant is a shame in the name of Lebanese food. I have had Lebanese food in many parts of the world and have been to some fantastic Lebanese restaurants in France. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. I Ordered Chicken Shish Taouk. Firstly, took a very long time to make it. Then it finally arrives with hairs on it. Yes, you rushed and quickly made me a new dish within minutes. But it tasted awful because it was rushed and I didnt enjoy eating at all. But because I was starving by this point I ate it. I wish I never paid the bill honestly. You ruined my time in Cannes. Worst experience ever. Don't go here, it is not worth the money they charge and the food standards are poor.

The falafels here were some of the best I’ve ever had, super flavorful! Staff were friendly and attentive and the main course dishes were also amazing, the meat was super tender and flavorful.

Beryte is hands down one of the best Lebanese restaurants in Cannes! Every dish was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the authenticity in every bite. The grilled meats were perfectly cooked, the mezze selection was outstanding, and the desserts were the perfect ending to an amazing meal. The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, making it a great place for both a relaxed dinner and a special occasion. I highly recommend Beryte to anyone looking for exceptional Lebanese cuisine in Cannes. I’ll definitely be coming back!

My friend and I enjoyed a nice lunch here. The falafels were flavorful and light. The fatouche salad and hummus were delicious, however, I didn’t like the thin pizza because it dried out and I felt like it was like cardboard paper.
Cielo Healing★☆☆☆☆
Food was delicious but very poor service. Waiter took 10 minutes to take our order after seating then food took another 20 minutes for starters to come. We ordered a side dish with the main meal and it never came even after we asked them twice if it’s on the way. Tall waiter was rude and looked irritated every time we called him over to check if our food was on the way. Shame because the food was tasty.

Loved everything about this place. It was the first restaurant we ate at where we were blown away.
Lisa and Farida served us: they were friendly, attentive, and made us feel at home.
The food was inventive, beautifully executed, and still felt honest and unpretentious, with flavours that land every single time.
It sat right alongside Sens and Table 22 (sister restaurant) as a real highlight of the trip, all three sharing that artistic but down to earth quality we adore.
Thoughtful cooking, lovely atmosphere, and the sort of meal that stays with you.
Can't recommend it more!

Everything lined up perfectly for me at UVA. The food was simply amazing, the presentation gorgeous, taste sublime. The wine was delicious. That could have been enough for the 5 stars, but on top of that, their careful attentiveness, the music that they chose, and their decor created the most wonderful vibe. I absolutely love that they prioritize street art on their walls. I could not have had a more ideal experience, it was like they created the place just for me.

Tips for Enjoying Vegetarian Dining in Cannes
Dining out in a new city, particularly one with such a strong cultural tie to specific culinary traditions, requires a little local knowledge. While Cannes is increasingly accommodating, the rhythm of dining here differs slightly from other major European cities. Understanding the local dining schedule and how to communicate your needs will significantly enhance your experience and ensure you get the best the city has to offer.
Book Ahead, Especially During Peak Season
Cannes transforms during congresses and the film festival. Even vegetarian hotspots that might seem casual often require reservations days or weeks in advance. Do not assume you can walk in during July or August; secure a table online or by phone to avoid disappointment.
Understand French Service Hours
Kitchens in Cannes generally operate on strict schedules. Lunch is typically served from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM, while dinner rarely starts before 7:30 PM. If you are hungry between these windows, look for cafes or juice bars that offer all-day service, as many restaurants close entirely in the afternoon.
Look Beyond the "Vegetarian" Label
Some of the best plant-based meals in Cannes are found at traditional Provençal restaurants that specialize in vegetable-driven sides and starters. Look for menus featuring "legumes du marché" or "assiette de crudités." You can often build a stunning meal from appetizers and sides even if the mains are meat-heavy.
Embrace the Local Markets
To truly appreciate the vegetarian scene, visit the Marché Forville in the morning. Seeing the quality of the local produce helps you understand what chefs are working with. It is also a great spot to grab fresh fruit, nuts, and olives for a picnic on the beach if you want a break from restaurant dining.
Learn a Few Key French Phrases
While many servers in Cannes speak English, saying "Je suis végétarien(ne)" or "Sans viande ni poisson, s’il vous plaît" (without meat or fish, please) goes a long way. It shows respect for the local culture and ensures the kitchen fully understands your dietary boundaries, particularly regarding hidden ingredients like fish stock or gelatin.
The evolution of vegetarian dining in Cannes reflects a broader global shift toward mindful eating, but it retains a distinctly French soul. It is a scene built on the principles of terroir—respecting the land and the ingredients it provides. By choosing to explore these plant-based menus, you are not just eating; you are participating in a modern chapter of Riviera gastronomy.
As you wander back toward the harbor or the winding streets of Le Suquet, you will find that the memory of a perfectly roasted vegetable or a rich, dairy-free dessert lingers just as long as the view of the Mediterranean. Cannes is ready to surprise you, proving that luxury and vegetarian cuisine are a perfect match.
