Tucked between the winding streets of the historic center and the banks of the Guadalquivir River, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla is a cultural cornerstone of Andalusia. Housed in the stunning Convent of La Merced, it is home to masterpieces by Murillo, Zurbarán, and Valdés Leal. After spending a morning absorbing centuries of Baroque art, the quiet plaza surrounding the museum offers a moment of respite before the next logical step: finding an exceptional meal.
The area immediately surrounding the museum—often referred to as the Museo neighborhood—is a vibrant enclave that balances local residential life with a growing culinary scene. Unlike the tourist-heavy zones near the Cathedral, this district offers a more authentic glimpse into Sevillian daily rhythms. Here, you are just as likely to see a family picking up fresh bread as you are to see art students discussing chiaroscuro over a glass of Manzanilla.
Because the museum is located slightly north of the main tourist arteries, the dining options here cater heavily to locals. This is excellent news for the discerning traveler. It means the quality threshold is high, the prices are often fairer, and the tapas are prepared with the traditional care that has made Seville a global food destination.
The culinary landscape in this area is defined by a deep respect for Andalusian product. You will find classic Sevillian dishes such as espinacas con garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas), carrillada (braised pork cheek), and montaditos (small sandwiches) featuring prominently on menus. The proximity to the river also ensures a steady supply of fresh seafood, often fried to a perfect golden crisp or served a la plancha.
Choosing where to eat can be overwhelming, especially when the afternoon heat or the "museum fatigue" sets in. The key is to look for places that balance tradition with hospitality. The best restaurants near the museum are those that welcome a mix of gallery visitors, local workers, and families, creating a lively atmosphere that feels distinctly Sevillian rather than manufactured.
To help you navigate the options, we have curated a list of the best places to eat within a short walking distance of the museum. The selection below prioritizes quality of ingredients, consistency, and the overall dining experience. Whether you are looking for a quick bite at a standing bar or a leisurely multi-course lunch, these spots offer the perfect complement to a day of art appreciation.

Our favorite restaurant in Seville was La Bartola. Delicious tapas, great sangria for less than 3 Euros and very friendly servers. We are still dreaming about the Iberian pork cheek stew over potato purée, the caponata, croquettes and homemade desserts. We ate there 3 times during our visit it is that good!

Really tasty food here! We ordered a few tapas and everything was great, especially the baby squid, swordfish roll, pig cheek, and beef.
Service was fast for the first round, but a bit slower on the second. The place has a great vibe, very lively at night and can get busy.
Prices are very reasonable. Overall, a great dinner spot.

We were there last Thursday for dinner and we weren't disappointed.
We've eaten a meal without paying a lot of money and the atmosphere was quite nice due to the smilling staff.
We've really enjoyed the food.
Everything was simply amazing so - in my opinion - you should visit "La Bartola" and you won't regret for no doubt! 🤩

The best food I had in all of Seville.. stopped by this place for late dinner during my recent trip to Seville and this place did not disappoint. We ordered their roasted lamb with cous cous, garlic shrimp croquetta (that was the croquetta of the day), pork cheek stew with potato purée and the chocolate panna cotta for dessert. We also ordered their sangria and tinto de verano. Every dish we ordered was AMAZING - tasty flavorful well seasoned melt in your mouth meat bursting with flavors. We devoured every bite and it was hard to pick a favorite. Both the lamb and pork dishes were 11/10. Not just the taste but the presentation of every tapa was fantastic. Their drinks were also great. The dessert was to die for.
This place is super packed during peak dinner hours and there is barely any room to stand. Since we walked in around 11pm, we got a seat and were well taken care of all thru the night. Also noticed alot of veggie options on the menu which was great. Service was awesome ambience is chic. I am certain I am going to crave their tapas once I am back home. Highly highly recommend this place when in Seville.

We tried several things, the anchovies, cheese, sushi verdura, stuffed zucchini, tataki de salmon, thai red rice as well as eggplant salad. The thai red rice was our least favourite but everything else was delicious. There is always a line up here around dinner time but the staff are amazing and get the line moving quickly. We were impressed with our server as she was gracefully attending to a dozen tables and didn't forget any of our requests.

The espacio eslava it is a restaurant and taperia located close to plaza de San Lorenzo. The atmosphere it is an old style design. It is possible to eat and drinking in the indoor dinner room, in the bar and outdoor. The food side it is nice and well made it. The menu follow the traditional Andalusian and Spanish dishes. The food it is the most positive aspect of whole experience like their great costillas a la miel. Unfortunately the service side it is most downside. As our experience during the dinner I had a slow, careful and unfriendly service. The service based on my experience in the restaurant feels completely impersonal like to be in turistic place. Except for the service side I recommend the espacio eslava for taste their juicy and flavour dishes but I suggest to book early a table.

Outstanding service and food! We came for my brother’s birthday and we were not disappointed. Very enjoyable experience. The honey ribs were fabulous, the pate was outstanding and the octopus melted in your mouth. Our servers were wonderful and everything was well priced.

Delightful tapas restaurant, with extensive menu and attentive staff.
Probably best to book as it’s very popular!
We enjoyed it so much we came back a second time!

We attended the restaurant to celebrate my wife's anniversary. The atmosphere and food were very good, but even though I had mentioned during the reservation that it was a special occasion, nothing was done to acknowledge it. Unfortunately, the service did not seem to take the occasion into consideration, which was a bit disappointing for what was meant to be a special evening.

Our 2nd time here and is always incredible. The food keeps delivering a great experience to share, full of flavors and beautiful presentation. This place is a must when in Seville. Make reservation and ask the waiter for gluten free option if need.

We had a fantastic experience here and would absolutely come back! The paella is delicious—perfectly cooked rice with rich, authentic flavor. The chicken skewer is really juicy and tender, one of the best we’ve had. On top of the great food, the service was excellent. Kamar was warm, attentive, and made the whole meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Amazing food! We had the patas bravas, Spanish salad, risotto, duck hot dog, sangria, and the grilled pork sirloin steak with whiskey sauce. Everything was fantastic but the duck and the risotto took the #1 spot. Overall we were very impressed!

We thought the food was just alright, but that’s maybe because we didn’t order the signature dishes. We had the chicken wings, salmon and potato bravas. Service was fast and we got a table quickly around 6pm.

Highly recommend trying this restaurant. Everything we ordered was excellent—high quality, fresh, and full of flavor. From the sangria and zucchini spaghetti to the Caesar salad and burger, every dish was delicious. The burger and steak was especially outstanding.
We tried this restaurant twice and came back the very next day because we loved it so much. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was wonderful, and it was an experience worth repeating.
A truly memorable dining experience!

Edit: we returned for lunch the day after
We had the sea bass collar and Iberian BBQ plate. Everything was so great. Our waitress Eleonora was gracious and attentive. We can't recommend this place enough.
This was by far the nicest dining experience in our 11 days trip in Andalucía. The food was really great (get the burrata with zucchini spaghetti
Don't walk, run!), their wine & sherry selection impressed us but most importantly the service was top notch. Hector who was our server was so attentive, polite and accommodating and it made our dining experience unforgettable. Thank you so much!

One of the best restaurants in seville, it is a hidden gem to be honest. The food is beyond great, I had the best sea food paella of all time, it was better than the one I had in barcelona. The staff were so friendly and nice especially Sandra she was so helpful and amazing and they all speak english which was so convenient. I highly recommend this place 🙂

Squid, viera Pacifico and fried aubergines were absolutely delicious, wouldn’t change it for the world. A combination of these three provides a special sensation in the belly which can’t be described with words. The restaurant environment is also very cozy with welcoming staff, highly recommended.

Great vibes and beautiful atmosphere with street seating and proper lighting. Food was delicious. The creole sausage and the ceviche were particular highlights. Highlight of the experience by far was our waiter Hector. He went above and beyond taking care of such a large party. Knew the menu really, was very attentive, and overall really positive.

I might have had the best frozen strawberry daiquiri of my life here. It was icy and sweet, perfect for the Seville heat.
The garlic prawn casserole we had as a starter was so delicious, that oily sauce they were in was divine and went perfectly with a piece of bread.
Unfortunately, these were the highlights of our evening and everything else following was pretty average. I had the pork tenderloin, which didn’t taste very tender at all, with about 6 chips. We also tried the fried hake which was overcooked, dry and lacking and flavour.
For dessert, I had the chocolate coulant/fondant and was immediately disappointed to find it was also overcooked. The chocolate did not pour out of the middle but it did make for a rich moist chocolate sponge.
The service also steadily declined during our time at La Malvaloca, to the point where we were having to flag people down if we wanted any attention.
For the price, I would’ve hoped for a better experience.

What a wonderful evening. The food was amazing. We had two burgers for teenagers. They rated it top on their list. I had the cod ravioli and my husband had the Iberian Pork. Great food, extremely good service. Thank you to Kamar and to Juan for looking after us

We had such a wonderful lunch at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the dry-aged steak and eggplant, and both were outstanding. The steak was rich and flavorful, and the eggplant was perfectly cooked.
What really stood out was the service. The staff spoke English well, were incredibly friendly (BIG shout out for Salomon and Kaman!) and you could tell they genuinely enjoyed their work. They were attentive and thoughtful throughout our meal, which made the whole experience even better.
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food and warm, welcoming service. We had a truly enjoyable lunch! 🥳

I got hungry around 6:00 PM and this is one of the few places that was actually still serving food at that time.
The wine was amazing, and I had the pork risotto, which was very tasty. The service was great too. I was able to sit outside and enjoy the shade and the live music.
Everything was amazing. It is a little bit on the pricey side, but it definitely saved my stomach at 6:00 PM in the afternoon.

Excellent experience at El Paseillo!
We tried the Iberian Carrillada (€18), the Ensaladilla (€4.90), the Patatas Bravas (€5.20) and the Homemade Ham Croquettes (€6). Everything was absolutely delicious, with high-quality tapas that were perfectly prepared.
The service was extremely fast and attentive. A special thank you to Tatiana, who was exceptional from start to finish. She was incredibly friendly and professional, and she speaks several languages, including impressive Portuguese, which made our experience even more enjoyable.
Without a doubt, a restaurant I highly recommend and will definitely return to the next time I’m in Seville!

We had a wonderful experience at El Paseíllo in Seville. The seafood paella was delicious, full of authentic Andalusian flavours, and beautifully presented! The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed. The location is also excellent, right in the heart of Seville. I would highly recommended a visit here!

We had a lovely experience eating here! This local restaurant was right around the corner from our hotel. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly.
My fiancé and I ordered Salmorejo con Huevo, Solomillo, Carillada y Vino Tinto. The food was delicious and our service from Jose was great! He gave us recommendations on what to order and we loved it. I would definitely come back!

This is probably my favorite restaurant in whole Spain and I ended up going there three times! The food is good and service is good and I can't find any complaints. Some reviews stated that the paella comes out too slowly but that shows you that they are actually taking time to make it, rather than heating up the frozen paella. Their house wine is really good and the olives are one of the best I've ever had in Spain. I would love to go back there again!

Croquets de jamon y pimientos Esteban muy buenos.
We got a marisco and pescado paella(20pp), and also a vegetarian one (18pp)
Both were big and deep plates. Be prepared to eat.
Ezequiel took care of our table amazingly.
We got a chipito in the end. Very taste cream de orujo.
This all with one coke and two glasses of wine was 97EUR.

This was our second visit to this restaurant this week, and once again, it did not disappoint! A huge thank you to our waiters, Fila and Javier, who were both incredibly welcoming, friendly, and accommodating throughout our meal. They made sure everything was served promptly and to an excellent standard, making the whole experience feel effortless.
We enjoyed some lovely drinks and desserts, and the thoughtful touch of bringing us little sweets at the end of the meal was really appreciated. The service was exceptional from start to finish, and it made our evening even more enjoyable.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Seville, and I'll definitely be coming back the next time I'm here. Thank you again for another wonderful experience!

We had a wonderful time at Morante. Without reservation the staff immediately put together a large table for the 10 of us. The ox tail risotto was great but the black fish paella was missing some flavor. Burger and other meat dishes were really good. The staff was attentive and kind. Overall definitely worth a visit.

Friendly staffs. Nice interior. We came in because I saw the beautiful interior but maybe there were other options if you are a foodie.
Also a bit on the expensive side.
We ordered Sangria (yummy) and fried cod fish (not great) and pasta (noodles were not al dente, but flavor was not bad). Overall if you want a good atmosphere you could visit here.

I followed the Google recommendation to Morante Restaurant on April 9th and was immediately charmed by the cozy ambiance. Since the paella was portioned for two, a lovely staff member named Claudia suggested the Arroz Cremoso con Carne—and it was absolutely stunning! The Sangria de Vino was also delicious. I truly loved everything: the food, the drinks, the service, and the wonderful atmosphere.

It was a truly wonderful experience! The pizzas were absolutely amazing like Napoli. We even asked them to available table because ee hadn’t a reservation; their flexibility and attentiveness made us very happy. The tiramisu was spectacular. The best pizza I have had. The most wholesome staff to care for your food experience and a beautiful cozy ambiance to make everything just PERFECT.
Do not miss their Tiramisu (made with no eggs and no alcohol). The backstory for the egg and alcohol free Tiramisu is just as heart melting as the Tiramisu. Special thanks to Youness who went above and beyond.
I encourage anyone visiting the locale to definitely dine at this restaurant. A gem indeed!
This place is a 10/5 star place!
Andrew Long★★★★★
The restaurant is located round the back of the mushrooms. It's quite small and booking a table is therefore recommended. The range of dishes is quite limited but the quality is superb. Plus there are craft beer options. I went for a smokey pizza with its own container which was novelty. The big surprise was the tiramusu where it was served by the staff pouring coffee into the jar. Amazing. It was a good meal.

We hadn't had a proper pizza in Spain yet so we were well overdue. Seated outside right away and the setting was perfect. We ordered the Ortolana pizza and it absolutely delivered — fluffy crust, fresh ingredients, and a delicious sauce that tied it all together. This is exactly how pizza should be done!

The best pizza in Seville, hands down.
We managed to get a table on a walk-in basis and didn’t regret stopping by!

We stumbled across this restaurant local to our accommodation and decided to give it a go. The restaurant was busy, there was good variety on the menu and the prices were good too.
I chose the pork cheek, which was particularly good. The meat was so tender and flavoursome, with a small accompanying portion of fries.
The sangria too was good and brilliantly priced at €3.50.
Two of my family ordered the chicken breast plate. Again, great value, but whilst one was cooked well, the first cut into the portion revealed that it wasn't just undercooked - rather raw.
We pointed this out to serving staff, an apology was offered and the chicken returned to the grill. It came back a few minutes later, properly cooked and piping hot - except for the fries, which based on their temperature, hadn't been changed.
Service was of an acceptable standard but bordered on being slightly cold and frosty. Whilst staff did correct the uncooked chicken dish, we [perhaps reasonably] expected somebody to come and ensure our satisfaction when the meal was re-served. That unfortunately didn't happen.
For the food, the restaurant was good. For the service, it was simply rather average and frankly forgettable.

Great food quality. The oxtail and pork cheeks were both very tender and flavorful. I did find both had similar taste, perhaps due to them using the same gravy. Service was quick and friendly.

Great experience!
Our expectations were quite high as we had researched the place beforehand and it really aligned with what we look for (and it did not disappoint).
What really stands out is the freshness and quality of the ingredients. Everything feels thoughtfully prepared, balanced, and genuine. The presentation of the dishes is also beautiful, yet unpretentious.
Everything is gluten and refined sugar-free, and there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, making the menu very inclusive and suitable for different dietary preferences.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
We actually ended up coming here twice during our 4-day stay in Seville, as this was the only place that truly delivered on clean eating without compromising on taste or variety. We made a reservation on both occasions, which is worth doing as it can get busy.
I would definitely recommend Atávico to anyone visiting Seville who is looking for fresh, balanced, high-quality food with options for everyone.
Keep up the great work! We will definitely be back. 🙂

I went here in September 2025 and stayed round the corner at Meliá Sevilla. Do you know how mad I am that this was a 2 minute walk away and I only discovered it on the last day of a whole week in Seville?
You can genuinely taste that every element has been carefully thought through. The flavours were hitting.
As a plant based, gluten free diner I was a bit sceptical about what I ordered, Garlic Mushrooms over Alboronía purée. It was so good I actually tried to recreate it when I got home… failed miserably.
The person I was with had the salmon marinated in coffee and said it was the best salmon dish of the trip, and she had salmon four times that week, so that says a lot.
For dessert, she had the Tropical Volcano and I had the vegan cheesecake, which we loved. I’m still thinking about that mushroom dish 8 months later.

Manuel is excellent! While visiting Seville we ate at this restaurant several times. The menu offers great options for all dietary needs. Our group had a vegetarian, pescatarian and one with a nightshade allergy, and we were all able to find something tasty each time. Large menu, great service, comfy setting!

That seafood (ceviche Mediterranean) dish tastes pure. Well, the dessert sauce is a little sour. It needs to be eaten with sauce. It tastes better. Well, that Tacos (beef-stuffed) cake has a strong but favorable taste. Well, as a Chinese diner, I think it is very close to the taste of Chinese food. Well, the beer is moderate and always delicious. The whole meal feels very good. Well, the people who work in the restaurant work very hard. Well, they provide very warm service and detailed instructions. The whole process makes people feel very considerate and warm. Thanks for Enrique’s warm-hearted service.

Tomato cold soup was ok. The pork cheeks were more on the tougher and chewy end but had good flavors. Potato was good. Pork loin was ok, kinda repetitive to he potato’s since they used similar sauce. The French toast dessert was my favorite!! Pretty amazing. Service was friendly and environment was comfortable.

What a gem! If you appreciate good food and wine like me you will be very happy and content. Even better if travelling in January like us - without the crowds. You must order the artichokes (read reviews from others), the croquettes were just wonderful, the pork loin with mojo was good, but if you haven’t had pork cheeks I would go with them based on other reviews. If we weren’t so full we would have ordered the Papas Bravas - based on the potatoes with our pork they would be well worth trying! We enjoyed the food so much we unusually ordered two desserts - the traditional French toast and homemade payoyo cheese cake. The French toast was fantastic, however we both found the cheesecake too sweet for our taste buds - but had no trouble finishing it! Wish we were staying longer to return to this wonderful restaurant. P.S Serving sizes are generous!

Alfalfa 8 is our absolute favourite in Seville! We lived there for 2 years and that was our go to place every time!
They have the BEST croquettes on the planet and the staff is so friendly and always very welcoming!
It’s definitely the place to eat if you’re in Seville! 100% recommended!

Great food, fresh, tasty, full local, min. tourists. Waiters do not speak english but you can communicate somehow. If you want to enjoy tapas at a local taberna, it will be a great choice. Especially, seafood is amazing…

Food was nice in general as loads of options on the menu. Highly recommend the courgettes and pork in whiskey sauce. Customer service was fast and they were very friendly. Only annoying thing was that the prawns was served as a small portion despite the €16 charge!

Wow, hands down one of the best restaurants in Seville. Great prices, high-quality products, and a service that is both warm and professional. I went several times during my stay in Sevilla, and everything we ordered was phenomenal every single time. The place fills up quickly, so try to arrive early this is a testament to its quality, as many locals go there because they know it’s a great spot. 100% recommended.

The waiters were incredibly kind and attentive, creating a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The ambiance was pleasant and comfortable, making it a great place to sit and enjoy a meal. The food was excellent, full of flavor, and served in very generous portions. Everything was spot on and absolutely worth recommending. The four of us ate more than enough and were completely full for 90€, which felt fair for the quality and quantity we received.

We had tapas consisting of shrimp, calamari, fish, chicken liver, cod, olives and goat cheese. We drank sangria. For dessert, we had cheesecake and an almond dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious. The service was very fast, and there was no need to wait in line. The atmosphere was beautiful. It was a fantastic Michelin restaurant. I could have dinner there every single day.
Tips for Dining Near the Museum
To ensure your meal near the Museum of Fine Arts is as memorable as the artwork you just viewed, it helps to understand the local dining etiquette. Seville operates on a clock that can confuse visitors, particularly regarding meal times, and adjusting your schedule will open up a better range of options.
First, embrace the Spanish dining schedule. Lunch (la comida) is the main meal of the day and is typically served from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM. If you arrive at a restaurant at 12:30 PM expecting a full menu, you will likely find the kitchen closed or only offering cold tapas. Conversely, dinner (la cena) starts late, usually around 8:30 PM or 9:00 PM. Plan your museum visit to end right around 1:30 PM so you can beat the rush and secure a table without a reservation.
Second, do not be afraid to stand at the bar. Many of the best tapas experiences in this neighborhood happen while standing at the counter. Not only is it often cheaper than sitting at a table (mesa), but it also allows you to see the food being prepared and point at what looks good. This is the most authentic way to eat like a local and often results in faster service during peak hours.
Third, look for the daily specials. Most quality establishments will have a chalkboard or a printed list of especiales fuera de carta (specials off the menu). These dishes are usually based on what was fresh at the market that morning. If you see a dish featuring seasonal artichokes (alcachofas), wild mushrooms (setas), or fresh tuna (atún), order it without hesitation.
Fourth, be mindful of the "tourist menu" trap. While the immediate area around the museum is generally safe, venturing a few blocks toward the main shopping streets can lead you to restaurants offering generic paella and sangria at inflated prices. A good rule of thumb is to walk into a place where you hear Spanish being spoken by the majority of the clientele. If the menu has pictures of the food on a board outside, keep walking.
Finally, remember that tipping is not obligatory. Service is included in the price in Spain. However, leaving the small change—usually 5% to 10% or simply rounding up to the nearest euro—is a kind gesture that is appreciated by the hardworking staff in these busy kitchens.
Exploring the culinary scene near the Museum of Fine Arts offers a rare opportunity to step away from the checklist tourism of the city center and into the daily life of Seville. The flavors here are rooted in tradition, relying on olive oil, sherry vinegar, and the freshest produce available. Taking the time to sit down and enjoy a slow meal is the perfect way to process the visual feast you have just experienced inside the museum walls.
Whether you choose a historic tavern that has been serving the neighborhood for decades or a modern bistro putting a twist on classic recipes, you are participating in a cultural exchange. The area around the Museo de Bellas Artes proves that in Seville, art is not just confined to the gallery walls; it is alive in the kitchen, on the plate, and in the glass raised in good company.
