Sitting just steps from the Guadalquivir River, the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza is more than an architectural landmark; it is the beating heart of Seville’s cultural identity. Whether you are attending a bullfight, taking a guided tour of the historic ring, or simply admiring the iconic white and ochre facade, the area surrounding the arena is a sensory overload of Andalusian charm.
The neighborhood of El Arenal, where the bullring resides, is historically the district of sailors, silversmiths, and traders. Today, those cobbled streets have evolved into one of the most dynamic culinary zones in the city. The aromas of orange blossom, cured jamón, and sizzling seafood spill out from the narrow alleys, pulling hungry travelers away from the main promenades.
Finding a truly authentic meal near a major tourist attraction can often be a challenge. In many cities, proximity to a famous landmark guarantees overpriced menus and a lack of local soul. However, Seville is a city that respects its gastronomy too much to allow its crown jewels to be surrounded by mediocrity.
The dining landscape here is defined by a unique rhythm. Locals often start with a late breakfast, move to a vermouth and tapas crawl around 1:30 PM, and return for dinner long after the sun has set. To eat well near the Maestranza, you must be willing to embrace this schedule and look beyond the obvious terraces.
From traditional abacerías serving century-old recipes to modern gastrobars pushing the boundaries of Andalusian cuisine, the area offers a diverse range of experiences. You can find standing-room-only bars where the floor is littered with discarded napkins (a sign of a good time) just meters away from refined dining rooms with views of the river.
To help you navigate this dense culinary map, we have curated a list of establishments that prioritize quality, freshness, and authenticity. These are the places where locals shout over the noise of the crowd, where the sherry flows freely, and where the true taste of Seville comes alive.
Whether you are looking for the perfect plate of Iberian ham, the freshest seafood from the nearby Atlantic coast, or a modern twist on a classic stew, this guide ensures you won’t waste a single meal. Here are the best restaurants near the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza.

The atmosphere of the place is really cozy, and has nice vibe.
There is a variety of tapas, everything was good and the price was also really good.
I didn’t have a favorite dish everything was good hut nothing stood up.
Nice place to try a bunch of dishes

We stumbled across this restaurant local to our accommodation and decided to give it a go. The restaurant was busy, there was good variety on the menu and the prices were good too.
I chose the pork cheek, which was particularly good. The meat was so tender and flavoursome, with a small accompanying portion of fries.
The sangria too was good and brilliantly priced at €3.50.
Two of my family ordered the chicken breast plate. Again, great value, but whilst one was cooked well, the first cut into the portion revealed that it wasn't just undercooked - rather raw.
We pointed this out to serving staff, an apology was offered and the chicken returned to the grill. It came back a few minutes later, properly cooked and piping hot - except for the fries, which based on their temperature, hadn't been changed.
Service was of an acceptable standard but bordered on being slightly cold and frosty. Whilst staff did correct the uncooked chicken dish, we [perhaps reasonably] expected somebody to come and ensure our satisfaction when the meal was re-served. That unfortunately didn't happen.
For the food, the restaurant was good. For the service, it was simply rather average and frankly forgettable.

Tradicional taste.
Service and atmosphere:
We received very good customer service. It was helpful and friendly.
The restaurant was super cozy, clean, well decorated and had great vibe.
Food and drinks:
Both were very good too.
Traditional food with lots of flavours and homely preparations. The right amount of seasoning and spices.
Good selection of wines and other beverages.
Pricing:
€€ - entire experience was worth the price.

Really enjoyed the authentic flavors here. The portions are generous and the prices feel fair for the quality. It’s a cozy and welcoming place, definitely worth a visit.

Great food quality. The oxtail and pork cheeks were both very tender and flavorful. I did find both had similar taste, perhaps due to them using the same gravy. Service was quick and friendly.

Our favorite restaurant in Seville was La Bartola. Delicious tapas, great sangria for less than 3 Euros and very friendly servers. We are still dreaming about the Iberian pork cheek stew over potato purée, the caponata, croquettes and homemade desserts. We ate there 3 times during our visit it is that good!

Really tasty food here! We ordered a few tapas and everything was great, especially the baby squid, swordfish roll, pig cheek, and beef.
Service was fast for the first round, but a bit slower on the second. The place has a great vibe, very lively at night and can get busy.
Prices are very reasonable. Overall, a great dinner spot.

We were there last Thursday for dinner and we weren't disappointed.
We've eaten a meal without paying a lot of money and the atmosphere was quite nice due to the smilling staff.
We've really enjoyed the food.
Everything was simply amazing so - in my opinion - you should visit "La Bartola" and you won't regret for no doubt! 🤩

The best food I had in all of Seville.. stopped by this place for late dinner during my recent trip to Seville and this place did not disappoint. We ordered their roasted lamb with cous cous, garlic shrimp croquetta (that was the croquetta of the day), pork cheek stew with potato purée and the chocolate panna cotta for dessert. We also ordered their sangria and tinto de verano. Every dish we ordered was AMAZING - tasty flavorful well seasoned melt in your mouth meat bursting with flavors. We devoured every bite and it was hard to pick a favorite. Both the lamb and pork dishes were 11/10. Not just the taste but the presentation of every tapa was fantastic. Their drinks were also great. The dessert was to die for.
This place is super packed during peak dinner hours and there is barely any room to stand. Since we walked in around 11pm, we got a seat and were well taken care of all thru the night. Also noticed alot of veggie options on the menu which was great. Service was awesome ambience is chic. I am certain I am going to crave their tapas once I am back home. Highly highly recommend this place when in Seville.
Husna★★★★★
We tried several things, the anchovies, cheese, sushi verdura, stuffed zucchini, tataki de salmon, thai red rice as well as eggplant salad. The thai red rice was our least favourite but everything else was delicious. There is always a line up here around dinner time but the staff are amazing and get the line moving quickly. We were impressed with our server as she was gracefully attending to a dozen tables and didn't forget any of our requests.

Great spot - thought the tapas potions were generous and well priced.
Had to wait 5-10 minutes for a table but food came pretty quickly when we got there.
Standouts were the pork in whiskey sauce and Camembert with blueberry jam. Sangria was also delicious!

I came in on a Sunday via train and most places’ kitchen were closed so they were a life saver. I liked the aesthetic of the place. Food was pretty good. I expected the portions to be smaller than what they actually were. I shared with my dad and he went in for seconds when it came to oxtails. It was my first time having it and had no expectations but it had good flavor and tender

Just a walk-in turned into an amazin meal. Everyting was fresh and tasty. Ox tail was my personal favorite. Staff was vonderful and friendly. Drinks could be a litte colder but I can not complain. Paid 63€ for 4 people.

This place has great food! The portions were huge, even though it was tapas-sized. The food was very traditional Spanish, both in taste and decor style. A kind gentleman staff member was always there to help me as a rather helpless tourist sitting in the corner. The service seemed great to me. No wait at the time I came, obviously because it wasn’t local people’s usual lunch time as the queue got long enough by the time I finished.

Myself and partner went into this place blind tested. It did not disappoint. It was very busy, we arrived around 8pm. We ordered a few plates of tapas and a few drinks. I went for whisky and coke. Which I found reasonably priced, My partner had a coke and a beer. I used the bathroom facilities in the establishment and they were clean. We enjoyed the the food. I especially enjoyed the ox tail. Would definitely eat in this place again. We found the bill to be pretty reasonable.

The cola de toro was honestly one of the best we’ve ever had! The meat was incredibly tender and full of flavour. We also really enjoyed the croquetas and gambas and the portions were very generous.
A special mention to Carlos, who looked after us throughout the meal. He was very friendly, pleasant, and attentive, and made the whole experience even better.
We ended the meal with a shot, which was the perfect way to finish a fantastic dinner. Great food, generous portions, and excellent service. Definitely recommended!

The atmosphere and decoration perfectly reflect the authentic Andalusian spirit. The staff is very friendly, and the prices are average. The food is overall delicious. I absolutely loved the garlic shrimp, and the cod-stuffed pepper was incredibly tasty. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his entrecote. The only minor downside was the bread; it was a bit stale and too hard on both of my visits. Still, it’s a nice place, and I highly recommend it, especially if you are coming with a large group.

As tourists, we’ve visited many restaurants, but this place was truly exceptional. You can immediately tell that everything you eat is fresh and prepared with great care. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
yuki★☆☆☆☆
I ordered my steak medium-rare, but what I got was an absolute disaster. It was incredibly tough and practically impossible to chew. Honestly, I’ve had well-done steaks that were more tender than this. It felt like chewing on rubbery bubble gum, with absolutely zero of that rich, beefy aroma you’d expect from a proper steak.
To make matters worse, the fries were completely ruined. They were placed right next to the salad and got totally soggy from being soaked in the vegetable juices.
I ended up leaving half of the plate untouched. Spending over €20 on this absolute garbage was a complete waste of money. Save your cash and go somewhere else.

Fantastic restaurant with very traditional Spanish cuisine. The paella was wooow. Very friendly attentive personnel. Special thanks to Ms Aidin( sorry if I misspelled the name) who spoke English. She was very helpful and attentive. She was great. Thank you

We were served by Fatima today, and she was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly sweet, warm, and welcoming and made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. Her kindness and genuine smile really made our experience even more special. She truly is such a lovely person! All the other waitresses were also very friendly and welcoming.
The chicken skewers were absolutely delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. The cocktails were also really tasty, and our outdoor table was very pleasant. I even got a lollipop at the end 😂 We had such a lovely time! 💗

We went here two nights in a row! The service was a little on the slow side on our first visit, but the food was really good and we enjoyed it enough to come back the following night. We definitely weren’t disappointed!
The staff are friendly and welcoming, and everything on the menu is halal, which is great if you’re a Muslim tourist looking for somewhere halal to eat in Seville. Would definitely recommend giving it a try!

A good restaurant with halal meat options. The rice is really delicious, and the French fries are also very tasty. The chicken is decent, although it could be better. The staff are friendly, the service is excellent, and the restaurant is a comfortable place to sit and enjoy a meal. The location is convenient and suitable for everyone. Overall, it’s a good place for a casual meal, especially if you’re looking for halal food.

A stylish setting with a surprisingly quiet Friday night. Restaurante La Maestría de Querencia impresses from the start, with outstanding ambience and beautifully decorated tables. Service was friendly and perfectly fine. We were surprised to be almost the only guests on a Friday evening, somehow intriguing. The dishes were simple but well executed, with good flavour and texture; the tuna potato salad was a nice example, while the duck rice was the clear highlight. After a relaxed dinner, the rooftop bar is the perfect way to close the evening.
ForeverLuxTravel★★★★★
We had a wonderful experience at La Maestría. The food was good, but what truly sets this restaurant apart is the incredible attention to detail. Everything feels thoughtfully selected, from the beautiful décor and atmosphere to the plates, table settings, and even the napkin holders. Every little detail contributes to the experience.
The service was absolutely immaculate. Our waitress and host was amazing, warm, attentive, professional, and genuinely made our evening special.
I have unusually high standards when it comes to food, so while the meal itself was good rather than extraordinary for me personally, I still think this restaurant deserves five stars for the overall experience. It is elegant, beautifully designed, and exceptionally well run. A wonderful dining experience in Seville.

iberian ham croquette was good, lamb shank are awful; dried out. The fishes are under-cooked as many people reported in reviews. Too expensive for what they serve.
DW★★☆☆☆
Food isn’t anything special, prices considered.
Fish came out raw so had to send this back to the kitchen. No offer for a discount or dessert for my troubles was offered.
Service isn’t terrible but not great.
The only thing holding this review together is the settings, and the bartender who made a mean virgin pina colada!!

Great experience!
Our expectations were quite high as we had researched the place beforehand and it really aligned with what we look for (and it did not disappoint).
What really stands out is the freshness and quality of the ingredients. Everything feels thoughtfully prepared, balanced, and genuine. The presentation of the dishes is also beautiful, yet unpretentious.
Everything is gluten and refined sugar-free, and there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, making the menu very inclusive and suitable for different dietary preferences.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
We actually ended up coming here twice during our 4-day stay in Seville, as this was the only place that truly delivered on clean eating without compromising on taste or variety. We made a reservation on both occasions, which is worth doing as it can get busy.
I would definitely recommend Atávico to anyone visiting Seville who is looking for fresh, balanced, high-quality food with options for everyone.
Keep up the great work! We will definitely be back. 🙂

I went here in September 2025 and stayed round the corner at Meliá Sevilla. Do you know how mad I am that this was a 2 minute walk away and I only discovered it on the last day of a whole week in Seville?
You can genuinely taste that every element has been carefully thought through. The flavours were hitting.
As a plant based, gluten free diner I was a bit sceptical about what I ordered, Garlic Mushrooms over Alboronía purée. It was so good I actually tried to recreate it when I got home… failed miserably.
The person I was with had the salmon marinated in coffee and said it was the best salmon dish of the trip, and she had salmon four times that week, so that says a lot.
For dessert, she had the Tropical Volcano and I had the vegan cheesecake, which we loved. I’m still thinking about that mushroom dish 8 months later.
Eric Padilla★★★★★
Manuel is excellent! While visiting Seville we ate at this restaurant several times. The menu offers great options for all dietary needs. Our group had a vegetarian, pescatarian and one with a nightshade allergy, and we were all able to find something tasty each time. Large menu, great service, comfy setting!
Yuetian Ma★★★★★
That seafood (ceviche Mediterranean) dish tastes pure. Well, the dessert sauce is a little sour. It needs to be eaten with sauce. It tastes better. Well, that Tacos (beef-stuffed) cake has a strong but favorable taste. Well, as a Chinese diner, I think it is very close to the taste of Chinese food. Well, the beer is moderate and always delicious. The whole meal feels very good. Well, the people who work in the restaurant work very hard. Well, they provide very warm service and detailed instructions. The whole process makes people feel very considerate and warm. Thanks for Enrique’s warm-hearted service.

Had the wagyu salad and the avocado salad - both fantastic. Lovely servers. Sat outside by the arena and enjoyed the cool breezes! Menu has an English option, which is always appreciated - but we still try to speak some Spanish to show respect. The steaks were wonderful (we are Midwest USA people with high standards for beef), well prepared and a nice variety of options. Definitely recommend!!
Leonor Cadena★★☆☆☆
We waited a long time to order, the staff was friendly but they were short staffed. They gave our order to the table next to us who took part of our steak and then they took it and brought us the same steak, missing the two end pieces. We compared it with the table next to us who confirmed they had the missing end pieces. We didn’t even have time to complain as nobody was around to come to our table. After waiting for two hours to get some food, we ate it and just paid for it. Several other tables were complaining. I wish I would have but nothing seemed to be done and I had no energy left.

Have been travelling in Spain for two weeks and this was the best meal I have had.
The entrees were delicately prepared and the mains were cooked to perfection.
The Lagoustine Was a treat, but you can’t miss on the steak empanadas.
I would recommend the T-bone steak done two ways: Grilled loin and steak tatare For the main.
The service was fantastic, especially from Enrique Rodriguez.
Would recommend this to any local or traveller in Seville.

All cooking very good, all over fire so really delicious. Veal sweetbreads were exceptional and rib eye steak delicious. We asked for medium but steak cooked definitely on rarer side! Sweet potato and artichoke were lovely vegetable sides and great selection of reasonable wine.

What an incredible experience! Without a doubt, this was some of the best tapas and wine we've had in Seville. Every dish was beautifully prepared, packed with authentic flavours, and showcased the best of Andalusian cuisine. From the first bite to the last, everything was fresh, delicious, and perfectly presented.
The wine selection complemented the food beautifully, with excellent local wines that made the meal even more memorable. The staff were warm, welcoming, and passionate about what they served, making us feel genuinely looked after.

Pretty good tapas, maybe a bit pricey but still good. Just got here from Madrid, pretty good train ride. Got some studying done. Maybe good nap, don’t let my mom know because she didn’t want me to nap on the train. The food was great. Small bites, definitely small but still good. Good quality, felt the Spanish in the food you know. Thought the octopus was alright. Risotto was a little too sweet, had a strange flavor. Cheese was average. Overall decent flavors and food, but portions and prices were a little disappointing. Love Sevilla so far, cool palaces or whatever. My beli gave it 5.6 but I give it more like a 6.1. Great food but portions and prices were not it.

One of the best lunches I’ve had in Seville ! Just fancied a salad , so ordered the Special salad , not knowing what I would get - it was absolutely amazing, a warm salad with roasted pork , grated egg & cheese , tomato, young broad beans lettuce and topped with caviar -delicious! Sorry about the photo but I had eaten half of it before I remembered to take a photo 🫣 we also had the scrambled egg dishes - both delicious , all washed down with a bottle of local wine . Superb and around €20 per head - perfect !

Super crowded, not easy to find a place. Food is ok, but it is difficult to enjoy in a chaotic environment especially if you are standing at the counter. Piripi is the famous sandwich here. Unfortunately reviews are very misleading. Place is very nice. Service is poor. We had prawns and octopus cold salad which tasted good but the seafood portion was ridiculous, barely any in it. Same for the duck croquettes. Tasty but little to no duck. Then we had paella, they told us waiting time was about 30 which fine with us. When arrived was very dry and bland. Big disappointment. We ordered a sangria which never arrived and then a second bottle of water that never arrived. Waste of money unfortunately

I stopped in for an early dinner after visiting a few sites in Seville and it was a great choice. The service, food, and wine were all great and made for a relaxing break from exploring the city. As a big fan of mussels, I had to order them and they were quite tasty. Everything felt fresh and well prepared. I would definitely recommend stopping in if you’re in the area.

I came here because it was previously a favorite restaurant which apparently has closed. The interior does not seem as fancy but it is very pleasant and the food was tasty.

We really enjoyed our experience and meal here at this lovely little restaurant. The interior is really nice, and the service was kind and attentive. Will come again.

Had a delicious lunch here. Even the bread and potatoes that arrived before our starters were excellent. Absolutely delicious, and service very friendly and helpful.

We went after seeing all the 5* reviews, oddly all posted very recently.
I couldn't say the food was awful but it had no flavour of interest, even the spicy beef with pepper sauce was dull. And everything on cold plates so the food was lukewarm. The restaurant is pretty and the waitress nice, that's about all.

usual scammers, I ordered a glass of sangria and the lady charged us 15 euros for the whole jug
Practical Tips for Dining Near the Maestranza
Navigating the culinary scene around the bullring requires a bit of local knowledge. The proximity to such a major monument means that tables fill up quickly, and the quality can vary dramatically from one street to the next. To ensure you have the best possible experience and eat like a true Sevillano, there are a few unwritten rules and practical strategies you should keep in mind before heading out to eat.
1. Embrace the Standing Bar Culture
In many of the traditional tapas bars near the Maestranza, the best atmosphere—and often the best service—is found at the bar. Don’t wait for a table if you see locals standing and eating. Order at the bar, balance your plate on the wooden counter, and enjoy the energy of the room. It is faster, more social, and often cheaper than table service.
2. Time Your Visit Strategically
Spanish dining times are notoriously late. If you want a quiet meal, arrive when the kitchen opens (usually around 1:00 PM for lunch and 8:30 PM for dinner). If you want to feel the local energy, arrive after 2:30 PM or 10:00 PM. Restaurants near the Maestranza often stop serving lunch by 4:00 PM and don’t reopen until 8:00 PM, so plan your sightseeing around these windows.
3. Look for the Napkin Test
A floor covered in crumpled napkins, toothpicks, and prawn shells is not a sign of a dirty restaurant; it is a badge of honor in Seville. It means the food is good enough to draw a crowd that is too busy eating to care about tidiness. If a bar is spotless during peak lunch hours, it is likely catering primarily to tourists and may lack authentic flavor.
4. Ask for the "Fuera de Carta" Specials
Menus near tourist zones can be static and safe. However, the best dishes are often written on chalkboards or simply recited by the waiter. Ask what is fresh today, particularly regarding seafood. If they have ortiguillas (sea anemones), chocos (cuttlefish), or a specific seasonal mushroom, order it immediately.
5. Don’t Skip the Sherry
While sangria is the tourist favorite, the locals near the Maestranza are drinking Sherry (Jerez). A glass of cold Manzanilla or Fino is the perfect pairing for the salty, fried seafood typical of the El Arenal district. It cuts through the oil and enhances the flavor of the fish in a way that red wine or beer simply cannot.
6. Walk Two Blocks Inland
The restaurants with the direct view of the bullring or the river often charge a premium for the scenery. If you are willing to walk just two or three blocks away from the riverfront promenade into the side streets, you will find prices drop and portion sizes increase, often with a higher concentration of local diners.
The area surrounding the Maestranza is a living museum of Andalusian hospitality, where the clinking of glasses mingles with the distant ringing of the Giralda bells. Eating here is not just about fueling up for a day of sightseeing; it is a vital part of understanding the rhythm and soul of Seville itself.
Take your time, order slowly, and don’t be afraid to ask the bartender for their recommendation. Whether you are finishing a meal just as the sun sets over the Triana bridge or enjoying a late-night bite after the crowds have dispersed, the restaurants here offer a taste of a city that lives to eat well.
