Finding a reliable pharmacy in Strasbourg means more than just picking up a prescription. Whether you are a local resident managing a chronic condition, a parent needing pediatric advice late in the evening, or a traveler caught off guard by a sudden illness, access to quality pharmaceutical care is essential.
Strasbourg’s unique position as a European capital and a historic Alsatian city means its pharmacies are accustomed to serving a diverse, international clientele. You will find that many pharmacists speak multiple languages, including German and English, making consultations easier for non-French speakers.
Navigating the French pharmacy system can be slightly different from other countries. Pharmacists here are highly trained healthcare professionals who can diagnose minor ailments, administer vaccines, and provide emergency contraception without a doctor’s note.
The city is served by a dense network of independent pharmacies, ensuring that no matter which neighborhood you are in—from the medieval lanes of Petite France to the European Quarter—help is never far away. However, not all pharmacies offer the same level of service, stock availability, or opening hours.
To help you make an informed choice, we have evaluated the options based on location, customer service, range of products, and accessibility. The following guide focuses on establishments known for their reliability, professional advice, and commitment to patient well-being.
Whether you need a specific over-the-counter medication, a flu shot, or simply advice on managing a cold, these locations stand out for their dedication to care. Below is our curated list of the top options currently serving the Strasbourg metropolitan area.

They have better prices compared to other pharmacies in Strasbourg.
There was English speaking service and all the employees were friendly and knowledgeable. I was looking for a new moisturizer similar to CeraVe Moisturising Lotion and I was recommended the Bioderma Atoderm Crème Ultra moisturising cream. It's my new favourite, watery but moisturizes so well and lasts all day.
Went on Friday around 11am-12pm and it wasn't crowded, no waiting time. Experience was good and I'd revisit when in Strasbourg again.

Horrible experience,
We were at a pharmacy where we bought some products thrn we checked the parfum/skincare section and left. Shortly after, we were stopped by two police officers who checked my bag because the staff had made allegations of theft against us.!!!!
If you're a foreigner go look for another pharmacy.

My friend and I were treated like trash by the lady at the medications counter last Saturday. I have a prescription from Portugal for a medication for epilepsy. I need it urgently and the legislation is clear that prescriptions from an EU country should be accepted in other. Even another worker from the same pharmacy confirmed that.
The lady in question said she would not sell the medication. She even made xenophobic remarks saying we can't come from "whatever place" and buy medication in "her pharmacy". My friend who speaks French asked her to speak with a supervisor, which she denied.
Sadly, I did not note the name of that horrible person. Such person does not deserve to work with people, and does not deserve a job at all.
In case any admin or supervisor cares about dealing with this matter, the lady was in her 45-50 years old, dark medium hair, wearing glasses. She cannot continue breaking EU rules and treating people that way.

A huge thank you for the care and attention received on Saturday. Visiting from Scotland and came in to find a knee brace. I was helped with kindness and efficency. THANK YOU - and my knee was better the next day!

Awful employees. Rude and unhelpful. I purchased a wrong product that I wanted to return unused and unopened. Before purchasing, I asked if returns were possible to make sure. I went the next day to return and not only did the employee fail to even try and help me, they said “only change” and did not allow me to return my item. The store did not carry the desired item so exchanging was not an option. Avoid this location. The prices are 2-3 euros higher than other pharmacies anyways.

For fellow Americans, they will convert a United States CDC card into a French health pass / QR code - at the time of my visit, for 2 euro. Very helpful service, was directed here from the Strasbourg City Museum when they wouldn’t accept my paper certificate for entry. Done and on my way in five minutes.

If you shop here, always ask for a receipt and double-check what you’re being charged for.
I regret going to this pharmacy. I was misled and overcharged.
I wanted to buy a 50ml Caudalie product on sale for around €53, plus some a vitamin that costed €39. A blonde, short-haired older lady showed me a Caudalie gift set and told me it was the same price but came with a gift. I thought, great, and bought both for around €83. At that moment I thought something was off and rechecked the product and I noticed that the Caudalie in the set was only 30ml instead of the 50ml I had originally shown her. I went back, and she said she didn’t realise I wanted the 50ml, despite me showing it to her. She swapped it and charged me another €15.
She also gave me a Caudalie body wash as the “gift.” Unfortunately, I wasn’t given a receipt on either occasion, and now I regret that I didn’t ask. In the end, I paid €97.85 instead of around €93, meaning I effectively paid for the “gift” too.
Very disappointing experience. I will never go back.

Its not very big but has a decent amount of skincare to choose from. They have non-skincare products like supplements and some over the counter medications too. The staff which served me was helpful and friendly. She didn't speak much English but gave me recommendations after looking at my skin. She was helpful and friendly despite our slight language barrier. Its one of the few pharmacie (which sells skincare at least) which opens at 9am. I had a late morning train to catch and was in a time crunch to get some French skin care products before leaving as pharmacies were closed on Sunday.

I asked a cheap lipstick against the cold they gave me a 6,25€ lipstick.... This thing is sold 3€ generally. This is crazy.

I went to pick up a morning-after pill for my partner and was very uncomfortable with the attitude of a pharmacist (a blonde woman with small glasses, older). Instead of neutral and professional support, I received remarks that were clearly judgmental about the situation. In a healthcare setting, this type of discourse is unacceptable. We expect advice and prevention, not moralizing. A disappointing experience.

I'm glad the pharmacy is in the neighborhood. It's frequently well stocked because of Rhena hospital nextdoor. That being said, it always seems to have the longest wait times--easily fifteen minutes each time I visit. The clerk's patience is often running thin. Still, happy to have it nearby but I often go elsewhere when the chance arises.

I had a disappointing experience at the pharmacy. I had been waiting for about 15 minutes with my ticket number, and it was finally my turn. However, another customer walked in and went ahead of me. I expressed that I was not comfortable with him being served before me, but the pharmacist ignored my concern and proceeded to assist him anyway. I found this to be unprofessional and unfair, as the queue system should be respected and all customers should be treated equally.

Tam and Sam are amazing, super helpful, knowledgeable, and best of all for me, they spoke English 🙂

As a customer for over 30 years, I am very disappointed with the decline in service at Vauban Pharmacy. Despite a pleasant first impression, the rest of the experience was rushed and disrespectful: no greeting, a poorly explained payment request, and a medication dispensed with an under-dosage, which is completely incorrect. Furthermore, there were no instructions on the boxes, making it impossible to know what the medication was. This lack of professionalism is unacceptable. After so many years, I now prefer to go to a pharmacy closer to my home.

I wanted to share an absolutely exceptional experience with the Pharmacie des Deux Alpes, and especially with Ms. Xavière Teulié.
In a world where service can sometimes feel impersonal, here it's quite the opposite: you'll find genuine human connection, sincere listening, and personalized support. Ms. Teulié always takes the time to understand your needs, offering precise, tailored, and never standardized advice. You immediately sense her expertise, but above all, her genuine desire to help.
What truly makes the difference is this rare level of service: she can come directly to your home to collect your health insurance card and prescription, and then deliver your medication. This level of service has become extremely rare these days, and is particularly valuable when you're pressed for time, tired, or otherwise unable to get around.
The selection of over-the-counter products is equally remarkable. The recommendations are always relevant, balanced, and insightful. Whether in the context of sports, intense stress, or overwork—very current situations—the advice on dietary supplements and Life Science solutions is always perfectly tailored. You benefit from serious, personalized support, never steered towards overconsumption, but towards the right product at the right time.
If I were to offer a constructive nuance—because an honest review always contains one—it would be that, faced with such high-quality service, one almost wishes this excellence were even more visible and widely recognized. This pharmacy clearly deserves broader acclaim, as its commitment is above average.
In short: competence, availability, kindness, and exceptional customer service. A trustworthy, human, and modern establishment that I recommend without hesitation.

I went there three separate times and each time they were very determined not to help me. The last time I went to fill a prescription my doctor gave me. The pharmacist said she could not fill it. They had the medicine I needed on site…I guess she just didn’t want to help??? I called my doctor and he said the prescription he gave me was valid and I should probably just switch pharmacies. Once I switched to a different pharmacy I had absolutely no problems getting my prescription filled.

Tips for Choosing a Pharmacy in Strasbourg
While having a list of reputable locations is helpful, knowing how to navigate the system will save you time and stress, especially if you are new to the city or visiting for a short period. French pharmacies have specific rules regarding prescriptions, generic substitutions, and out-of-hours service that you should be aware of.
Understand the Green Cross System: Look for the illuminated green cross sign outside. If the cross is lit and flashing, it usually indicates the pharmacy is open. If it is off, the pharmacy is likely closed, and you may need to find the nearest pharmacie de garde (on-call pharmacy).
Know Your "Pharmacie de Garde": Not all pharmacies stay open late or on Sundays. In France, a rotating system ensures that at least one pharmacy in every district is available for emergencies outside standard hours. You can find the current on-call pharmacy by checking the door of any closed pharmacy, visiting the local police station, or using the official "Mon Pharmacien" app.
Bring Your Carte Vitale: If you are a resident with French social security, always have your Carte Vitale (green health card) with you. This allows the pharmacist to process your prescription electronically and apply the correct reimbursement rates, reducing your upfront costs.
Check for Parapharmacy Sections: Many large pharmacies in Strasbourg have a dedicated "parapharmacie" section that sells high-quality skincare, baby products, and dietary supplements. If you are looking for specific French beauty brands like Avène, La Roche-Posay, or Bioderma, choosing a pharmacy with a large parapharmacy section will give you the best selection.
Don’t Hesitate to Ask Questions: French pharmacists are legally obligated to provide advice with your medication. If you are unsure how to take a prescription or want to combine it with an over-the-counter drug, ask to speak with the pharmacist directly. They can check for interactions and ensure you are using the product safely.
Choosing the right pharmacy is about building a relationship with a healthcare provider you can trust. Whether you need a complex medication compound or simply a box of paracetamol on a Sunday afternoon, Strasbourg’s network of professionals is well-equipped to handle your needs with discretion and expertise.
By keeping these tips in mind, you can navigate the local healthcare landscape with confidence, ensuring that you and your family always have access to the best possible advice and treatment.
