Amazing gardin, the parc itself is very great, lots of different tree species, lots of flowering plants, little signs to know the names of the plants. And of course, the botanical garden (beware of opening and closing hours, not the same as the parc, if you want to see it), lots of tropical plants, a site you should really see !
Dan T★★★★★
Beautiful gardens with lots of beautiful plants / landscapes to sit / walk through. Only down side is that it is next to a busy road, so you have to move further in and to the left to lose the road noise.
Caterina★★★★★
Beautiful place, they have reorganised the gardens a bit, and built a lovely pond with water coming from a river, to encourage biodiversity. The roses are stunning and smell divine.
GaLina Grishchenko★★★★★
Beautiful Botanical garden with a big collection of roses and Dalias . Nice place to spend time 😊👍

An unusual garden in Euralille, primarily based around water and wetland plants, with fish and a terrapin! Also a lot of giant bamboo, a couple of large frames supporting wisteria and other climbers and a couple of large topiary heads. Very enjoyable, though not large and the surrounding roads detract a bit from getting there!
Rani. S.★★★★★
Peaceful gardens to sit and have lunch or walk through, bamboo and other plants and trees including wild flowers. Plenty of seating, wildlife water features and ponds. Various entrances with steps leading into the gardens. The gardens are well maintained with gardeners working to keep it orderly. A much loved green area popular with people enjoying their lunch. Shaded and lots of separate areas to have some privacy with friends or moments alone. Accessible by wheelchair
Jakob Fix★★★★★
Surprising little park in Euralille, the newer part of Lille. Surrounded by newly constructed buildings, this is a haven of peace and quiet. What's even better is the bistro that belongs to it and where you can have a drink in the evening.

The ambience and this whole greenery around are incredible. Very nice place to rest and go away from city crowd.

Not open till 9pm as advertised. Closes at night according to the gate but was closed at 6:30 in March!! From looking through the fence looks nice, but poorly maintained. All the lakes / pools were very green and brown.

Very beautiful garden. Lots of places to sit. Lovely flowers and some wonderful paths to walk along. Worth a visit if you are in the area. It's right next to the zoo, so a perfect spot to stop and have a sit/your lunch if in the area.
Hassen N★★★★★
One of the best parks in the city of Lille. Perfect for a morning jog or picnics (if the weather allows it). Bus stations in proximity and there are several restaurants nearby. Parking is also available but it's paying (?)
Rad Ek★★★★★
I like that park 🤩 nice place to walk. If you are there, you have to see small cave! Magic place!
Minh DINH★★★★☆
Nice and quiet city park. Small waterfall and different short passages for you to cross over the water are both worth taking a look if you have time on your hand. However, I feel like the garden could be better maintained.
Wilfredo Blanco★★★★★
It was a really a cool experience. Went out when It was warm and sunny on the day after Easter. They had a circus at the park next to us. But all the college students where out at the park just chilling and laying in the sun. Drinking beer enjoying the day. Played a little football saw some guys playing soccer. Really was a cool day!

On a bitterly cold winter January Twenty-Twenty-Six day, this is still an amazing park. Entered from Monument au Pigeon Voyageur entrance, we proceeded towards the Zoo entrance (which was closed for the winter months) and continued on to what I believe was Porte Dauphine old gate. From there we saw Porte Royale along one of only two surviving old bridges in this fortified military site. It's not possible to enter Porte Royale as behind it is still an active military site judging by the flags on the main façade. This park is very much active with joggers and cyclists, even in a cold winter day. Just wear comfortable clothes and clothes and be prepared to get mud on your shoes. There's public lavatory. There's canal cruises available in warmer months along the Denule canal. We actually walked here from Lille City Centre, about half hour. It's worth it.

🥰 Wonderful park, we really enjoyed our time here! The park is massive, you can spend hours here if you want to. We didn’t even see the zoo, so we could easily have spent even more time here if we had the opportunity to. The park is beautiful, lots of people come here to enjoy nature and to run. We didn’t see any water fountains and even though on Google Maps we saw there were public toilets, we didn’t use them, so mind that.
Marija Naumoska★★★★★
We often travel and I have to say the parc for toddlers is amazing along with the zoo. The only challenging this was going thru the parc first time, many of the inside routes were closed, and instead of taking me to get to the zoo 10 min ended up to go 45 min around the whole parc with the stroller. There are no signs in the park where is the zoo, where is the parc etc. You have to use online map.
Matthew Hurst★★★★☆
Pleasant park with a mixture of buildings (citadelle), water (moat, canal), and nature areas (grassland, forest, etc.). The park is free to enter but the zoo is not and the citadelle cannot be entered without prior appointment.
Alison Robinson★★★★★
A wonderful green space near the heart of Lille, bordered by canals. Great place to stroll on a sunny autumn day and even see sheep grazing. Hire an electric boat and enjoy it from the water. An essential part of any trip to the city.

It's a lovely park, even in winter when I visited. This green space is planted with chestnut trees and linden trees. There are benches installed throughout and a children playground. There's also a public lavatory. It's signposted with notice that no dogs are allowed, there's water fountain for drink, bicycles and scooters aren't allowed inside the park. In Winter it opens from 7:30 AM To 7:00 PM. Check out the surroundings especially some beautiful buildings around Jean-Baptiste Boulevard.
Mike Aoun★★★★☆
A cute little family park right behind the national museum. There are a lot of activities to do for kids and it’s a quiet place as well when the kids are not around if you would like to hang out and read a book there.
Rani. S.★★★★★
Great park nicely designed, plenty of seating Inside and attached outside, play area for children, wooden elephant sculpture, secure railings, various entrances, plenty of bins, water mist spray area to cool you down, shaded areas too. Lots of trees and wild flowers and grass, a pathway. Bicycle hire available directly outside the park.
Deki Gh★★★☆☆
Standard park, not anything out of the norm. The rubber hill for kids is the main thing I’d say that isn’t typical but the rest of the items are semi outdated but kids around enjoyed it.
Luciano Correa★★★★★
Lovely park to spend time with family and/or friends. Lots of green areas to sit and enjoy a picnic. There are also playgrounds so kids can have fun too. This park also have a public restroom, what is something always good to have available in places like this.

Secret spot in Lille! It is a beautiful place, hidden between the buildings close to the cathedral. Great to go with kids. Grab a sandwich, sit in one of the benches and just stretch your legs!

The Jardin de l'Abbaye de Loos is a quiet, hidden green space located inside the Jean-Jacques Rousseau block in the historic Old Town (Vieux-Lille) of Lille. Overview and Features Tucked away from busy streets, the garden sits behind historic buildings that once served as a refuge or mansion for the monks of the Notre-Dame de Loos Abbey. The main entrance is discreetly found near the corner of Rue des Trois Mollettes and Rue des Vieux Murs, or via Rue Jean-Jacques-Rousseau. It offers a calm escape featuring mowed lawns, benches, and trees, making it a popular peaceful spot for visitors looking to rest away from the crowds. The park is enclosed by old, charming brick architecture that reflects the traditional style of the historic district.

Beautiful, interesting, large communal park. Large spaces to hang out; small, natural kids play section, green areas and old architecture. A quiet space in a busy city. Really cool setting and a wonderful ode to a great artist. We enjoyed a coffee and pastry here, taking in the park.

Beautiful garden with a small restaurant in a glass house. There's a small admission fee. Check online for their concert in the park. There are plenty of parking spaces on site.

What a place! I didn't expect at all to have such a good time in here. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. Really enjoyable for passing the day with the family, in couple or just alone. We went by bike from Lille and they have place outside to attach them. Entry will cost but is only 5 or 6 euros. They have several propositions like music concerts our guided visits along the day in the weekend, this is of course optional but I recommend doing the activities that they propose. You can spend the whole day in here and you won't get desapointed. One of my favourite places in the region. Thank you for an amazing experience!

One of the great place for walking, running, cycling, picnic with friends & family. Some people also do fishing sometimes with the permission, I mean buying the fishing licence. You can do good nature photography also, because there are nice birds too! I think, due to the existence of this lovely natural park, I could able to survive in this county till now! Thanks to Vd'A community & French Gov't for this nice park.

Tips for Visiting Parks and Gardens in Lille

To ensure you have a seamless and enjoyable experience exploring Lille’s natural beauty, it helps to understand a bit about local etiquette and logistics. While these spaces are generally welcoming and easy to navigate, a little preparation can significantly enhance your visit. The following advice will help you blend in with the locals and make the most of the city’s outdoor culture.

Check the seasonal opening hours. Many of Lille’s manicured gardens, particularly those with gates like the Jardin Vauban or the Citadel’s surrounding woods, operate on seasonal schedules. While some parks remain open 24/7, others close at dusk or during the winter months to protect the flora. Always verify the specific hours for your destination before heading out, especially if you are planning an early morning run or a late evening stroll.

Embrace the picnic culture. Lille residents love a good picnic, and you will find that many parks are perfectly suited for it. While some historical gardens have strict rules about sitting on the grass to protect the lawns, others, like the lawns of the Citadel, actively encourage it. Stop by a local bakery or a market to grab some regional cheese and a baguette to enjoy a truly authentic local lunch.

Utilize the excellent public transport. You do not need a car to access the best green spaces in Lille. The metro system is highly efficient, with stops often located directly adjacent to major parks. For example, the Bois de Boulogne is a short walk from the metro, and many central gardens are easily accessible on foot from the city center. Using public transport or walking allows you to avoid the hassle of parking, which can be competitive near popular entrances.

Respect the "Pelouse Interdite" signs. You will often see signs indicating that walking on the grass is prohibited. This is common in French formal gardens where the turf is meticulously maintained for visual symmetry rather than recreation. If you see these signs, stick to the benches and designated pathways. However, look for the signs that say "Pelouse Autorisee" or "Aire de Jeux," which indicate areas where you are free to sit, play, and relax on the grass.

Bring a reusable water bottle. While Lille is improving its public amenities, water fountains are not as ubiquitous as in some other European cities. During the warmer summer months, staying hydrated is crucial, especially if you plan to jog around the Citadel or spend the whole day exploring the larger wooded areas. Bringing your own water ensures you are never caught out far from a café or kiosk.

Watch out for the "Ch’ti" weather. The weather in Northern France can be famously unpredictable. A sunny morning can quickly turn into a light drizzle by the afternoon. Locals know to always carry a light rain jacket or an umbrella, even if the forecast looks clear. The parks are beautiful in the rain, often emptying out and becoming incredibly peaceful, so don’t let a little moisture ruin your plans.

The beauty of Lille’s outdoor spaces is that they offer a genuine escape without requiring you to leave the city limits. Whether you are watching the rowboats drift by in the Bois de Boulogne or admiring the floral arrangements in a historic garden, these environments provide a necessary counterbalance to the dense urban architecture. They are places where the city slows down, takes a breath, and connects with nature.

As you plan your itinerary, try to leave room for spontaneity. Sometimes the best way to experience Lille is to simply wander into a green space you stumble upon, find an empty bench, and watch the world go by. The city’s parks are its living rooms, and they are always open for you to enjoy.
