Strolling down the Avenue des Champs-Élysées is a sensory experience defined by luxury, history, and the constant hum of Parisian life. While the avenue itself is famous for its flagship stores and monumental views, the surrounding Golden Triangle is also a haven for some of the city’s most refined baking artisans.
For many visitors, the temptation is to grab a quick crêpe from a street vendor, but that misses the true magic of the neighborhood. Tucked away on the side streets and luxury hotel promenades are world-class bakeries where butter, flour, and sugar are treated with scientific precision.
Understanding the difference between a standard boulangerie and a high-end patisserie is key to navigating this area. While a boulangerie focuses on daily breads and simple pastries, a patisserie specializes in intricate desserts, fine chocolates, and elaborate cakes that often look like edible jewelry.
Because this district caters to an international clientele with high expectations, the standards here are exceptionally high. You will find both historic institutions that have served royalty and modern innovators who are pushing the boundaries of French gastronomy with contemporary flavors.
Whether you are looking for a flaky, buttery croissant to start your morning, a delicate macaron to enjoy with coffee, or a stunning cake to take back to your hotel, the area surrounding the Champs-Élysées delivers on every front. The proximity to luxury hotels like the Four Seasons George V and The Peninsula means that culinary excellence is never more than a short walk away.
Navigating the sheer volume of options can be overwhelming, especially when you are trying to avoid tourist traps that rely on location rather than quality. To help you experience the true taste of Parisian luxury, we have curated a selection of the finest spots that are worth both your time and your euros.
Below is a curated selection of the absolute best bakeries and patisseries located within walking distance of the Champs-Élysées, each offering a unique slice of French culinary artistry.

We had a lovely family breakfast experience overall. The food was good, and the macarons were absolutely delicious! The theme and decor of the place were beautiful and made for great pictures. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming.
The only downside was that we had to wait in line for a little while before being seated, but overall, we enjoyed our visit and had a nice time with the family.

Ladurée on the Champs-Élysées is much more than just a café—it’s one of those iconic Parisian places that’s worth visiting for the experience alone. I visited in December 2025, and the Christmas decorations made it feel even more magical. The beautifully decorated tree, elegant festive displays, and warm atmosphere created the perfect holiday setting.
The interior is absolutely stunning, with its historic salons, chandeliers, and even a beautiful piano that adds to the refined ambiance. Every room has its own charm, and it’s easy to spend time simply admiring the décor.
We stopped for a hot chocolate and a dessert waffle, and both were excellent. The hot chocolate was rich, creamy, and perfect for a cold winter day, while the waffle was freshly prepared and a delicious sweet treat.
The service was welcoming, and despite how popular the café is, the atmosphere still felt relaxed and elegant. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, taking a break after shopping on the Champs-Élysées, or simply looking for a beautiful Parisian café, Ladurée is a place I’d happily return to. During the Christmas season especially, it’s an experience that feels truly magical.

Ladurée is love at first sight - and first bite. 🤍
The macarons here are the absolute gold standard: a delicate, crisp shell that melts in your mouth and a perfect balance of flavors. Easily the best I’ve ever had. 10/10.
The interior is just as iconic. It’s the definition of French chic and "old money" aesthetics. With its soft pastel tones, intricate molding, and flawless attention to detail, the atmosphere is pure elegance. It’s the perfect spot where visual harmony meets culinary art 🎀

> 🇫🇷✨ Ladurée is one of the most famous macaron shops in Paris, so be prepared to wait in line as it's almost always busy. We came to try their famous macarons and drinks, and they definitely lived up to the hype. The macarons were absolutely delicious, and the drinks were great too.
I do have to deduct a star for the service, though. It was quite difficult to get the staff's attention, and some of them didn't seem very friendly or welcoming.
Overall, it's still worth visiting if you're in Paris, especially if you want to try their iconic macarons. Just be prepared to wait—it's definitely a place for people who don't mind queuing.

A must-visit spot in Paris for anyone who loves elegant desserts. The atmosphere is refined and beautifully decorated, with a classic French charm that makes the experience feel special from the moment you walk in.
The macarons were delicate, perfectly balanced in sweetness, and full of flavor. Each one felt carefully crafted, both in taste and presentation. Everything looked as beautiful as it tasted.
It’s definitely a place to enjoy a slow, aesthetic break while exploring Paris. Highly recommended for a sweet Parisian moment.

The pastries were honestly top tier. They had such a good balance of flavours and weren’t overly sweet at all. The custard was really smooth, creamy and rich without feeling too heavy, which worked perfectly with the tart/ mille- feuille
The matcha latte wasn’t quite as good though. It was a little grainy and relatively pricey for what it was.I’d rather spend the money on another pastry instead

Came here two times during my trip to Paris. Loved the atmosphere, the desserts (best I’ve had), and the service. Highly recommend!
Zhefan Lu★★★★☆
I had a really nice experience overall. The tea was amazing, and the pastries were even better, beautifully made and full of flavor. The portions were very generous too, and we even got a box of biscuits to take away (included in the menu), which was a lovely touch.
The environment is elegant, but it was quite crowded and a bit noisy, probably because I went on a weekend. I had to wait about 30 minutes in the hotel lobby for a table, and service was a little slow at the start since the staff seemed very busy. We were seated for around 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order.
I do think the experience could be improved, especially during busy times, even small things like offering water while waiting would make a big difference. That said, the quality of the pastries really stood out. Definitely worth a visit, just maybe try a weekday if you can.

had the pleasure of trying the pear tart at Butterfly Paris, Rosewood, and it was an absolute delight. The presentation was elegant, highlighting the artistry of the patisserie team. The tart itself had a perfect balance — the buttery, crisp base contrasted beautifully with the tender poached pear, which was naturally sweet and fragrant. A subtle glaze added just the right touch of shine and finesse, while the cream accompaniment elevated the experience without overpowering the delicate pear flavor.
It’s one of those desserts that feels both refined and comforting — a true testament to French pastry done exceptionally well. Definitely a must-try when visiting Butterfly.

I was walking around and this shop caught my eye 🤩 I couldn’t resist it! The beautiful displays of biscuits and cookies looked amazing! 😍
I also really liked the souvenir mugs with ‘Paris’ written on them, much nicer than the usual souvenir shops outside.

What can I say! This was a dream come true! It was very hard if not impossible to find those old school cookies here in the US, so traveling to Europe and specifically to Paris, was an opportunity for us to stop by this beautiful store thanks to my beautiful wife who did her home work finding us the best spots in Europe, I personally found in this store the minute I walked in, the fragrance of the pain d’epices brought me back to my childhood, when my father first introduce me to this delicious treat, I fell in love with this bread and cookies ever since I start eating solid food as a kid, and it became a religion, but all these years that I’m relocated to America, it became impossible to find it, this store is one of the best stores in the world, the young lady who helped us was more than just a store associates, she was an angel, the smile didn’t leave her face the entire time while I was exploring the variety of items they carry, and the stories and questions I was asking her she was more than glad to answer. I wish I can remember her name, but this was summer of 2022. Please if you read this young lady, me and my wife we promise to stop by soon, and this time we’re bringing you a mall gift from here as a token of gratitude for your amazing and beautiful person you are. Merci beaucoup Mademoiselle! Vous etes tres gentille!

Fortwenger is an absolute gem in the heart of Alsace! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the delightful aroma of freshly baked gingerbread and the sight of charming, teddy bear-themed decor. The store offers an incredible variety of traditional Alsatian gingerbread, biscuits, and other confections, all beautifully packaged and perfect for gifts. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you're a fan of authentic, high-quality pastries and sweets, Fortwenger is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

We were in Paris for 10 days, and we got food from here every day. The service is warm and friendly, kindly answering all of our questions. And the food was fantastic. We tried cookies, and pastries, and croissants. We tried all the different sandwiches too. And of course, the baguettes. It was all delicious. Also, the boulangerie was always busy with locals, to me a true sign of quality. Thank you for helping to make our stay in Paris even better.
Jamal Khoury★★★★★
Boulangerie Julambre was truly a phenomenal experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, inviting, and authentic. You can immediately tell this is the kind of place where passion for food and hospitality comes first. The aroma of fresh bread and homemade dishes fills the restaurant and makes you excited before you even sit down.
The service was fantastic throughout the entire visit. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. They made us feel comfortable right away and took the time to explain menu items and offer recommendations. It is rare to find a restaurant where the service feels this personal and sincere. Every interaction felt professional while still being warm and friendly.
The food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and prepared with care. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and the recipes are authentic. From the fresh bread and pastries to the main dishes, every bite was full of flavor. The presentation was beautiful, but more importantly, the taste was unforgettable. It had that comforting homemade quality that makes a meal feel special instead of rushed or commercial.
What stood out the most was the consistency of the experience. Great food alone is not enough, and great service alone is not enough, but Boulangerie Julambre delivered both at an exceptionally high level. It is the kind of restaurant you look forward to visiting again before you even leave.
If you appreciate authentic homemade food, excellent customer service, and a welcoming atmosphere, this place is absolutely worth visiting. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

What a charming and beautiful Boulangerie the people are very kind and the pastries we absolutely delicious! If you get the chance you absolutely have to try the strawberry croissant!
koby surujon★★★★★
We discovered a real gem in Paris. From the moment you walk into Boulangerie Julambre, you realize this isn't just another industrial production line, but a family business with a huge soul.
The pastries? Simply a celebration of flavors. Every bite is a perfect combination of explosive crunchiness on the outside and delightful softness on the inside - you can truly feel that every croissant and pastry was handmade with so much love. The quality is exceptional, even by Parisian standards!
But what truly won us over was the service. We happened to visit both at the start of the day and right at the very end, and we received exactly the same amazing level of service - always with a big smile, patience, and a welcoming feeling that makes you feel at home.
A must, must, must visit. This place is the reason we love Paris. ❤️🥐🥖

After a coffee break and a leisurely walk through the city on a rainy Parisian day, I couldn’t resist stopping for pastries to fully experience the city’s sweet side. This bakery was already on my list, and it absolutely delivered. I chose two classics: a baguette and the iconic baba au rhum.
Stepping inside felt like entering a gateway to happiness. The aroma of freshly baked baguettes and pastries fills the space instantly—an unforgettable sensory experience, especially in Paris. The pastries seemed to call out from the display, impossible to ignore, and the baba au rhum lived up to its promise with every bite. It was so exceptional that I may find myself returning to Paris just for it.
The baguette was equally impressive—crispy, flavorful, and without question the best I’ve ever had. The service was warm, professional, and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. A fantastic spot, rightly rated, and truly worth every penny.

After some days at Disneyland Paris I went out to visit the Eiffel tower and I couldn't leave with out trying a cake, so I found La Patisserie Cyril Lignac as the nearest patisserie near me so I bought the Tarte Aux Framboises which is a raspberry tart, and it was delicious. Maybe a bit expensive but everything in Paris is expensive so nothing to complain about.
M. H.★★★★★
i'm absolutely in love with this place
it was recommended to us by some locals with the warning it's on the pricier side but for the quality i actually think it's very cheap, i would expect to pay twice as much for what they are creating here
we went in the morning and the croissants were still warm, the bread was delicious and the selection was incredible, truly something for every flavour and every need
there is a park not too far away, get some bread, buy some cheese and meats nearby and have a little picnic
please come here and give it a try
nadine kabbara★★☆☆☆
I used to come here to get some of my favourite patisseries.
However, today was disappointing.
I had the tarte vanille tonka and the noisette, both of which did not taste fresh. The creme on the noisette was very thick with some discoloration probably due to being old.
The tarte tonka was also not at all fresh with the tart base being nowhere close to ‘croustillante’.
I also found the chocolate cake inside the tarte very dry.
For 7,5 euros a piece and from Cyril Lignac, I expect nothing less than very fresh and daily made patisserie quality and it definitely was not the case ….

I bought a collection at Vincent Salur Champs-Élysées: the creations looked beautiful but they all tasted surprisingly similar. Worse, the Cacahuète had a very sour cream that tasted as if it had gone off, I couldn’t finish it. Many reviews also mention the excellent hospitality, but unfortunately we did not experience that either. Its disappointing, I expected much better quality and service.
Coming from Brussels, I was really eager to try the creations but I found it disappointing.

This is the best pastry shop on the Champs-Élysées! After trying several patisseries in the area, I found this place, and everything they make is absolutely delicious. Their croissants are perfectly crisp on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. Instead of visiting the famous, highly rated places that often disappoint, I’d definitely recommend coming here for an authentic, flavorful croissant! Thank you Maison Lucie!!!

Very good boulangerie for breakfast to go! They do not have tables (just 2 small ones with benches). The croissant with ham and cheese (warm) was just amazing. The almond croissant and the almond pain au chocolat were divine. We will have to come back here.

Wow, I am SO impressed by the croissants from this no frills shop!
I’ve tried many of the popular croissants in Paris (disappointed each time)… but this beat all of them… AND the prices are so affordable!
I picked up a regular croissant, a pain au chocolat, a pain suisse, and a chocolate crepe. The croissants and pain suisse were INCREDIBLE. Extremely flaky and fresh - felt like biting into the heaven. The crepe was fine, but I’d recommend sticking to the croissants.

Great bakery! I had a croissant and also bought a baguette. Everything was very fresh and tasty — the baguette was warm and felt like it had just come out of the oven. The croissant was perfectly flaky and buttery. This will be my morning stop for the rest of our visit to Paris.

I came here early in the morning right when they opened to get some pastries, and it was such a great experience. There were already a lot of locals lined up buying their morning croissants and pain au chocolat, which is always a great sign that you’ve found an authentic neighborhood spot rather than a tourist trap.
Everything I tried was incredible, the pain au chocolat, the suisse, and the croissant were all perfectly buttery, flaky, and fresh. On top of the delicious baked goods, the owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. His warm hospitality truly made my day.

I had a croissant and a pistachio pastry.
The croissant was good, but a little crispier than I expected. The pistachio pastry wasn’t really my favorite. It was a bit dry, and I got tired of the flavor halfway through. The quality was definitely there though, it just wasn’t my kind of pastry.
The place was clean and really nice. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, the kind of people you’d be happy to see every morning.

Found this delicious place on our last full day. I ate nearly 12 croissants over our 5 day stay in Paris. This was my favorite!! Their baguettes were fantastic as well. I went back the morning we were leaving to get travel snacks.
The gentlemen at the counter was friendly and a delight to chat with both mornings.

Fortunately, we found this gem last Tuesday. We've had a variety of pastries, quichés, sandwiches, coffee and hot chocolate here every day since (except Saturday and Sunday, because they are closed). EVERYTHING is DELICIOUS! The proud couple that owns this place are passionate about their business and know how to make you feel welcome and appreciated. They were gracious enough to give us a tour of where their team of skilled patissiers (pastrie chefs) craftfully prepare all of their AMAZING products. The patissiers welcomed us into their workspace with beautiful smiles and a warm bonjour. Incorporating a vist here as part of our routine has enriched our vacation immensely. We can’t say enough about these KIND people and their OUTSTANDING products. We will miss the experience they've provided when we leave.

Excellent boulangerie! We decided to grab a few bits to go for lunch and walk down to the Tuileries gardens. First croissant I’ve tried in Paris and it already set the standard. It was perfectly baked with a flaky exterior and a light, buttery interior. I enjoyed it a lot!!! Not overly greasy, absolutely delicious and it’s instantly one of the best pastries I’ve had during my stay.
Their pain au chocolat was 💯💯💯💯 as a chocolate lover, I immediately fell in love with it. Crisp exterior, soft and airy interior, matched with rich and indulgent chocolate 🤤🤤🤤 definitely coming back!!
The place is simple yet really pretty and the staff welcomed me and they’re nice people 💖

Exactly the kind of Paris bakery you dream about
This ended up being one of our favourite breakfast stops in Paris, and honestly, it's places like this that remind you why you come here in the first place.
We'd already tried some of the famous names around the city, but Jolie Michelle absolutely nailed it. No hype, no massive queues of tourists taking photos of pastries, just seriously good baking done exceptionally well.
The first thing you notice is the constant stream of people coming and going. Then you see staff and delivery bikes loading tray after tray of fresh pastries, and it clicks – this isn't a place making a few croissants for tourists. This is what they do, and they've obviously perfected it.
The butter croissant was, without exaggerating, 10 out of 10. Beautifully flaky on the outside, incredibly light inside and packed with that rich, buttery flavour that somehow isn't heavy. Every bite shattered into those delicate layers that end up all over your clothes, and you couldn't care less because it's that good.
The pain au chocolat was every bit as impressive. Crisp pastry wrapped around proper chocolate that melted perfectly. It wasn't overly sweet, just balanced exactly the way you'd hope.
The almond croissant... wow. Easily one of the best I've ever had. Rich almond filling without being sickly, toasted almonds on top and a pastry that somehow stayed crisp despite the filling. If you're only buying one thing, make it the almond croissant.
What really made the experience though was the staff. The lady who helped us was incredibly friendly and patient, even with our very limited French. She made us feel genuinely welcome rather than like another tourist passing through, and that always makes a difference.
We paired everything with an American coffee and honestly couldn't have asked for a better breakfast. Sitting there watching locals pop in, cyclists collecting trays of pastries and the bakery humming away in the background felt like a genuine slice of Parisian life.
Sometimes the best travel memories aren't the famous monuments or the expensive restaurants. They're standing in a neighbourhood bakery with buttery crumbs everywhere, great coffee in hand and wondering how something as simple as a croissant can taste so unbelievably good.
If you're chasing the best croissants in Paris, put Jolie Michelle on your list. Skip the overpriced tourist traps and come here instead. It delivers exactly what you hope a Paris bakery will deliver – incredible pastries, friendly service and an experience that feels authentic from the moment you walk through the door.
For us, this wasn't just breakfast. It was one of those simple travel moments we'll probably remember long after we've forgotten what we spent on museum tickets. We'd happily come back tomorrow.

Stayed two nights im Paris and went twice to Jolie Miche for the croissants and pain au chocolats. Received a bag full of paradise that made me instantly happy. Buttery and crunchy croissants and the same goes for the pain au chocolats with the cherry on top being the dark chocolate inside. You can by card or cash and they are open early which is great for a stroll around this part of Paris and to the Seine.

Checked the reviews and went there. The pastry (croissant et pain au chocolat) was amazing, as well as their desserts (I tried Danish and a small chocolate cream cake, forgot its' name), and quiche! I tried the one with salmon and quiche Lorraine.
The only minus, no sitting spots inside, but it's rather insignificant, when the food is so great!

Excellent bread, pain au chocolate and croissant at morning time. They’re really good at these but in the afternoon, it’s most likely not fresh as morning.
They are not good pastries. But you can have a quick stop to eat bakery or sandwich and drink coffee.
They’re not open for weekend..
90% staff is welcoming but not always, depends on the mood.

This is a stock standard Parisian Boulangerie, and the pastries are of fine French standard, however I’ve never seen such an extreme enforcement of a no outside food policy.
On this afternoon, I happily purchased two pastries from this establishment and sat down to enjoy them, along with a half consumed Pepsi Zero that I had purchased minutes before at the grocery store.
I began to enjoy my pastries at the table, and then took a sip of my beverage to wash it down. Moments later, a tap on my shoulder, the woman exclaiming that I could not sip my Pepsi at the table because it had not been purchased there. It had to sit on the table idle and not be consumed. I could look, but not drink.
I completely understand keeping random people away from restaurant tables to reserve them for customers, but for the business to be bothered by a quiet soda sipper who was enthusiastically supporting the business with two pastries in hand, incroyable!
I’ll happily be taking my Pepsi and my business elsewhere.

Dropped by for a quick bite and to get pastries for breakfast. We didn’t know there were combo meals, if we did, we would’ve gotten those. We ended up getting a quiche, mille-feuille, and several pain au chocolat, hot choco and a coffee for 14 euros. Pretty good value and they tasted great too. The ladies didn’t speak much English but they were friendly and polite, and the service was pretty good.

This is a wonderful cafe with scrumptious, fresh food. The cinnamon roll was delicious, as was the ham and cheese panini. Lovely way to start your morning !!!

Standard bread shop in Paris, with options for not just the basic buns but also sandwiches, pita, salads, and more. There seems to be a constant stream of customers buying takeout - which I guess is testament to the fact that the food is good and the price is right.
Nothing really stands out, but most of what we sampled was pretty good - from a palmiers to the sables to the croissants and pain au chocolat.
The staff may be a bit busy as the walkthrough traffic is very high. But they’ve been friendly whenever we sought assistance.
Try their set meals, which comes with a main, a dessert or fruit of some kind, and a drink.
How to Choose the Right Boulangerie or Patisserie
Selecting where to spend your calories and money in a city overflowing with baked goods requires a bit of strategy. While the establishments listed above guarantee a high standard, knowing how to navigate the experience will help you order like a local rather than a tourist. The following tips will ensure you get the freshest products and the best value during your visit to the Champs-Élysées area.
Check for the "Artisan Boulanger" Label
When you see a sign that says Artisan Boulanger, it means the bread is kneaded and baked entirely on the premises. This is a legal distinction in France and guarantees you are not eating frozen, industrial dough that has simply been reheated. This label is a hallmark of quality and craftsmanship.
Understand the Baking Schedule
French bakeries bake continuously throughout the day to ensure freshness. If you want a warm baguette or croissant, visit early in the morning (around 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM) or catch the after-school rush around 4:00 PM when a second batch is often pulled from the oven.
Look at the Butter Color
The secret to the best pastries near the Champs-Élysées is high-quality butter, specifically from the Charentes or Normandy regions. A truly excellent croissant should have a visible yellow hue inside and a distinct, nutty aroma of real dairy. If the pastry looks pale and white, it was likely made with margarine or low-quality fats.
Don’t Skip the Savory Options
While the cakes and macarons are stunning, the true test of a bakery is often its simplest savory item. Try a jambon-beurre (ham and butter sandwich) on a classic baguette or a cheese stick. If a bakery masters these simple items, their more complex desserts will be exceptional.
Ask for a "Tradition"
If you are buying a baguette, specifically ask for a baguette de tradition rather than a standard baguette. The "tradition" is governed by strict French law that prohibits additives and preservatives, allowing only flour, water, salt, and yeast. It is significantly better in texture and flavor than the standard white baguette.
Be Patient and Greet the Staff
Etiquette matters in French bakeries. Always say "Bonjour" (or "Bonsoir" in the evening) when you enter and "Merci, au revoir" when you leave. Taking a moment to look at the display before approaching the counter is appreciated, as these artisans take great pride in their work and expect customers to choose thoughtfully.
The area around the Champs-Élysées is often criticized for being too commercial, but a short detour into one of these bakeries reveals the soul of the city. The dedication to tradition, the use of premium seasonal ingredients, and the sheer artistry on display remind you why French pastry remains the global standard.
Taking the time to step away from the crowded avenue to enjoy a coffee and a pastry is not just a snack; it is a cultural rite of passage. Whether you choose a historic institution or a modern boutique, the memory of these flavors will likely linger long after the glittering lights of the avenue have faded from view.
