10 Pharmacies in Lloret de Maret

Finding a reliable pharmacy while travelling or settling into a new town is often one of those tasks that suddenly becomes urgent. Whether you are dealing with unexpected sunburn on the Costa Brava, a child running a fever in the middle of the night, or simply need to refill a prescription, knowing exactly where to go saves valuable time and stress. Lloret de Mar, known for its vibrant tourism and bustling summer seasons, is well-equipped to handle the healthcare needs of both visitors and long-term residents.

Unlike in some countries where you might struggle to find a chemist, Spanish pharmacies (farmacias) are highly regulated and ubiquitous. They are easily identifiable by their green, often illuminated, cross signs. In a town like Lloret de Mar, the infrastructure is designed to ensure that no matter where you are staying—whether near the beach or further up the hills—you are never too far from professional medical advice.

One of the most important things to understand about the local system is the concept of the "Farmacia de Guardia" (duty pharmacy). While most pharmacies operate standard business hours, usually from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and then 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, the town rotates overnight and weekend coverage. This ensures that there is always at least one pharmacy open 24 hours a day to handle emergencies.

The staff in Lloret de Mar pharmacies are highly trained medical professionals. Because the town is an international hub, you will find that most pharmacists speak a high level of English, as well as often German, French, or Russian. They are legally permitted to dispense advice for minor ailments and can often provide over-the-counter medication that might require a doctor’s visit in other countries, making them your first stop for non-critical issues.

Navigating the local area is relatively straightforward, as the town is compact yet spread out enough to require specific locations. The main commercial areas, such as the Passeig de Verdaguer or the areas around the town hall, host several pharmacies. Additionally, you will find them clustered near the main medical centers (CAP) to facilitate easy access for patients leaving doctor’s appointments.

Below is a curated list of some of the most accessible and well-regarded pharmacies in the area. This list includes their general locations to help you orient yourself, whether you are driving, walking from a hotel, or looking for the nearest option to a specific neighborhood.

I arrived at exactly 10:00 PM, just as they were closing, but they still welcomed me and helped me. The staff were incredibly kind and provided me with the medication I urgently needed. I highly recommend this place to everyone! Thank you so much to the staff for your understanding and kindness.

I am a resident at Lloret de Mar and I have never seen a worker in a pharmacy throwing angrily the shop’s product infront of the customer for a refund. By selling the incorrect product. Keep away from this pharmacy. There are plenty of good ones who know what the customer wants.
Viktoriia Shmundiak★★★★★
I had the best experience with this pharmacy! They answered all my questions, helped to find medication which I couldn’t find in other pharmacies. Highly recommended!

My little boy had trouble going to the toilet since we arrived, his mood was changing and it was beginning to take over our holiday. The pharmacist prescribed 2over the counter remedies, 2 hours later he was as good as new. So helpful and professional. Saved our trip.

Best place in Lloret!

No one needs such rudeness during a holiday emergency. In case you haven't grasped it: if tourists stayed away, you'd be out of a job. Your opening hours are official and must be adhered to; even 9:20 pm is still considered working time. Since you obviously feel you're destined for greater things, we strongly recommend a career change. Definitely one without customer contact; holidaymakers, especially in an emergency, want to avoid contact with people like you, leaving no energy for your bad vibes. It's only April, the start of the season; how will you treat those in need in the height of summer? A little tip: your language skills are clearly very limited, as you don't even speak English in such a busy place, while some of us are so gifted that we understand your negative comments and gossip perfectly well.

The staff of this chemist is beyond nice and helpful. I totally recommend anybody visiting Lloret de Mar and needing to go to a chemist to choose this one out of all the ones in town. They also speak different languages, so it's great for those of us who are not fluent in Spanish. Their customer services totally deserves a 5/5 🙂

Beautifully displayed products. Happy, Helpful, Smiling staff.
Jordi Grau★☆☆☆☆
I've come here several times, they make me wait a long time and then they can't find what I'm looking for. Then they try to get me to buy the most expensive product available, not the one I need. I don't think that's right.
Nati Sandratska Zinovieva★☆☆☆☆
Terrible! The new pharmacist treats customers very badly; she's a young, very dark-haired woman! When I asked for the brand-name medication, not the generic, she told me I had to go to the doctor to get a different one. In the end, she started yelling and throwing away the cream I was supposed to get. It's all or nothing, so go to another pharmacy. Awful!!!
Judith González★★★★★
The service was perfect. I went because I was out of an urgent product, they didn't have it, and they immediately found a solution. It was 1 PM, and by 5 PM I had the product in the store. Natalia, thank you so much!

The staff who first helped me were polite and professional, but the experience quickly turned unpleasant when the owner stepped in. Her attitude toward customers was rude and dismissive, and the way she treated her employees was even worse. It created a very uncomfortable atmosphere and reflected a lack of respect for both clients and staff. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this pharmacy.
roisin lennon★★★★★
Really helpful pharmacist. Had 2 nasty bites (?spider) on my hand which was really swollen. She gave me a hydrocortisone with lidocaine cream and an antibiotic cream. Stopped it becoming cellulitis and avoided oral/IV antibiotics. Thank you
Karol Owczarek★☆☆☆☆
They cheating people. I asked for painkillers for my wife (exactly paracetamol). Very nice lady promised that it is very strong painkiller. Later on, with translator it turned out that I bought some herbs (doing nothing) for 20 euros! At different drug store paracetamol cost like 3 euros. No remorse, no empathy - just cheating peoples for money!

Tips for Visiting Pharmacies in Lloret de Mar

To make your experience as smooth as possible, there are a few local customs and practical points you should keep in mind when seeking medication or health products in Spain. Understanding the nuances of the system can save you time and ensure you get the correct treatment without unnecessary hassle. The following tips are designed to help you navigate the local pharmacy landscape like a local, ensuring your health needs are met efficiently during your time on the Costa Brava.

  1. Locate the Duty Pharmacy (Farmacia de Guardia): If you need medication late at night or on a Sunday, do not waste time walking to a closed store. Every pharmacy posts a sign on their door listing the current "Farmacia de Guardia" for that specific day. Alternatively, you can check local listings online or ask your hotel reception, as they usually have the schedule posted.
  2. Know Your Brand Names: Medications in Spain are often sold under different brand names than in the UK, US, or other countries. It is best to know the active ingredient (e.g., Ibuprofen, Paracetamol) rather than asking for a specific brand name that might not be available. Pharmacists are excellent at cross-referencing the chemical composition.
  3. Bring Your EHIC/GHIC Card: If you are a European citizen, bring your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or the newer GHIC. While it doesn’t always cover the cost of the medication itself (you often still pay a percentage or full price for prescriptions), it is essential if the pharmacist needs to verify your medical rights or if you require a specific controlled substance.
  4. Ask for Generic Options: Spanish healthcare heavily promotes generic medications (medicamentos genéricos). If a pharmacist offers you a generic version, it is identical in efficacy and safety but often significantly cheaper. Don’t hesitate to ask, "¿Hay una versión genérica?" (Is there a generic version?).
  5. Pharmacies for Minor Emergencies: For minor issues like jellyfish stings, severe sunburn, or minor infections, head straight to the pharmacy before considering a clinic. Spanish pharmacists can assess the situation and dispense treatments that would require a prescription elsewhere, saving you a long wait in a medical center.
  6. Cash and Cards: While most modern pharmacies in Lloret de Mar accept international credit and debit cards, it is wise to carry a small amount of cash (€20-€30). Occasionally, for very small purchases, the card machine may have a minimum spend, or there may be a temporary connectivity issue.

Lloret de Mar’s healthcare infrastructure is designed to be tourist-friendly, and its pharmacies are a testament to that. The professionals working behind the counters are usually the fastest route to relief when you are feeling unwell. They bridge the gap between self-care and a hospital visit, providing a safety net that allows you to get back to enjoying your holiday or daily life quickly.

Remember that while the town is lively and energetic, health matters require a calm approach. By knowing where the nearest pharmacy is located before you actually need it, you give yourself peace of mind. Whether you are staying in the bustling center near the beach or in a quieter residential area like Fenals, the presence of these well-stocked chemists ensures that Lloret de Mar is not just a place of leisure, but a safe and well-serviced community.
