10 Best Tapas Bars Near Casa Batlló

After visiting Gaudí’s undulating masterpiece, you are likely ready for a different kind of Barcelona experience. The area surrounding Casa Batlló sits within the Eixample district, a grid of elegant streets that hides some of the city’s most authentic culinary gems. While the main avenues are crowded with tourist traps, the side streets offer intimate spaces where locals gather for vermouth and perfectly crisped patatas bravas.

Tapas culture in Barcelona is a ritual of grazing, sharing, and socializing. Unlike a formal dinner, a tapas crawl allows you to sample a variety of flavors, from fresh seafood to aged Iberian ham, without committing to a single restaurant. The challenge, however, is knowing which unassuming doorway leads to a legendary bite.

Because this neighborhood is a high-traffic tourist zone, prices can vary wildly, and quality is not always guaranteed by a pretty facade. You need a curated list that balances tradition with modern flair, ensuring you avoid the generic paella spots with frozen food. The goal is to help you eat like a local, even if you are only visiting for a few days.

The bars selected for this guide represent the best of the neighborhood’s diversity. Some are historic institutions that have been pouring vermouth for over a century, while others are contemporary spaces pushing the boundaries of Catalan cuisine. They all share a commitment to high-quality ingredients, excellent service, and that distinct Spanish buzz.

Accessibility is key when you are tired from sightseeing. Every recommendation in this guide is located within a comfortable walking distance of Casa Batlló, usually under ten minutes. This means you can easily transition from admiring modernism to enjoying a glass of cava and a tapa without needing a taxi.

We have personally evaluated the atmosphere, the authenticity of the menu, and the overall value for money. Whether you are looking for a quick stand-up bite at the bar or a relaxed seated experience on a terrace, there is an option here for your specific mood and budget. Prepare your appetite, because this is where your culinary adventure in Barcelona truly begins.

We visited while on vacation and Pol was our server, so attentive, courteous and pleasant. It was not only a great place to eat, but service was exceptional. Thank you Pol for a great first experience!

We had just embarked into Barcelona from a cruise. We were a bit dazed and amazed by the beautiful scenery, culture, and of course, hunger pangs. Passing Tapa Tapa Passeig de Gracia, we saw the menu and it lured us in… TTPdG has been around since ‘93. 33 years and clearly deserving of the reputation it has earned. We definitely did the European-on-the-sidewalk experience, the only way to do it. Alex was so pleasant but not pushy, equally professional and polite. Very helpful as we ate those tiny tasty Tapas. The Sandvitx de cua de boy (OxTail) was oh, so Ox-some and then some. The Truita de patates, feta al moment - we savored in all the moments we had with it. The Llom baix à la planxa amb patates i pebrots de Padron was also a popular selection at our table. As was the Camembert semi-fos amb poma i mel trufada. If there was a World Cup Champion of restaurants, Tapa Tapa Passeig de Gracia would be the winner! 🏆 (*For the record, I discovered there are several locations of Tapas Tapas after I wrote this initial review. Clearly the food and business model were worthy of replicating!)

Great experience overall! Staff were super polite, friendly, and attentive — really great service. Highly recommend the crab toast and squid ink rice — both were amazing. The squid ink rice was very rich, and although the seafood paella felt slightly less impressive after that, it was still good with very fresh and sweet seafood. The prawns and fried squid were also very tasty. Only downside was the mussels — many were closed or not fully cooked. They don’t provide high chairs, but there are sofa seats available, so it’s still manageable if you’re dining with kids. Overall still a very enjoyable meal. Would recommend!

Stumbled upon this location accidentally and what a happy surprise — food was spectacular! Service was as fast as you could expect at a busy spot like this. Food was cooked very well. Some things needed a little love (salt and pepper, etc) but other things were flavored spectacularly.

We recently visited this restaurant and were impressed by their quick service and reasonable prices. We tried their toast with cheese and lemon cake, which was delicious. I believe their tapas menu is also worth checking out. Casa Batllo view is a plus.

One of my favorite restaurants among all the places we’ve tried over the past few days. The hummus was absolutely delicious! I ordered the one with lamb, and both my sister and I loved it. The shrimp roll also left a really good impression on me. We’ll definitely be coming back. It’s also worth mentioning that the young waitress was absolutely lovely. She would dance along to the music, and she just seemed like such a happy and joyful person! We had no problem communicating in English when ordering either. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend! We were in Barcelona for 2 nights and ate here twice because it was so good. The atmosphere was very unique and quaint. The staff was awesome. Big thanks to the staff Vagner, Flor, Loiz and Manel. When you go you must get the stuffed pepper with goat cheese and rose jam. Everything was great but that is a must. Don’t even second guess going…. Go!

Amazing tapas bar in Barcelona! Such a great spot for a chill date night. The prices were very reasonable, the sangria was delicious, and every dish we ordered was fantastic. The tomato tartare absolutely stole the show for me — easily a 10/10. The lamb hummus was also a 10/10, and the patatas bravas were delicious. They weren’t fried, which was a little different, we absolutely loved! We also had the sea bass and prawns in a creamy sauce, which was really nice as well. A special shoutout to Stephanie, our server, who was super friendly and made the experience even better. Great food, great service, and a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely come back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a lovely lunch here on 2/26. The patio made for great people watching and everything we had was delicious. To top it off, our server was so warm and funny. Thank you for the lovely experience! ✨

We sat outdoors and loved the evening air. The waiter was friendly, efficient and very helpful. We had pulpo con salsa miso, humus cordero asado, mollete de presa ibérica, and patata acordeón asada. Then finished with the tarta cremosa de limón fría. All accompanied by a pitcher of the delicious house sangria. Unlike most of the sangrias in the U. S. that usually too sweet for my taste. This sangria was fresh and not overly sweet. All the tapas were well prepared and so delicious.

I found this spot by accident walking around the Casa Batlló area and I’m so glad I did. The food options are limited, but the quality is amazing. I ordered the seafood paella, which does take some time to prepare, but it was delicious and the portion size was perfect for one person. The staff are really friendly and efficient. They also have a cocktail menu (you might need to ask for it). A nice touch at the end is the dessert tray where they bring the selection to your table so you can choose what you like - no need to choose if you don’t want any. It’s very relaxed with no pushy upselling. I sat on the outside to enjoy the warm weather, but the interior is quite spacious. Definitely recommend for a reasonably priced meal in the area.
Michelle Fisher★★★★★
I was just passing by and happened to see their menu board by their outside tables and stopped to take a look. The menu seemed similar to all the other restaurants nearby but it was the kind approach from the employees standing outside. They offered me a lovely table outside under the large umbrella. I started with a nice tall glass of red sangria. Not too sweet and also not filled with too much fruit. Just a slice of lemon and orange. I ordered two tapas as an afternoon snack. The small fried fish and the tomato toast were both excellent and the portions were very sharable. The service was warm and friendly and the food was delicious.
Michael Schirripa★★★★☆
The restaurant is very beautiful, and the interior design has a nice oriental touch. We had a glass of sangria, which unfortunately wasn’t freshly prepared but served on tap. The food was very good, with fresh and high-quality ingredients, although the tapas were perhaps a bit too oily. The staff seemed a little stressed, even though only a few tables were occupied, but they were all very kind and professional. Overall, I would recommend it.
Shavonne★★★★★
The restaurant had many Spanish and Catalan traditional tapas and was nice and clean inside with lots of seating. Our waitress, Gin, was extremely friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. At the end, the system rang up our drinks with the wrong price and she quickly fixed the issue. I’d recommend this spot for those who want to have good tapas with easy access to the touristic sights of Passeig de Gracia.
brian Schnoll★★★★★
I was walking down the street looking for food and a drink and I found the spot. I was checking out their menu and someone asked if would like to be seated, decided to stay. Drinks were amazing, food was delicious (Brie and the garlic prawns). Service was phenomenal. I come back end of the week and will be coming back.

A small (easy to miss) restaurant with an interesting concept. Before you enter, you first select the price tier, which differs by # of dishes, drinks and other options. They then present your tapas as a mystery box. While some may see this as a risk, we did see this as quite cool of concept. You REALLY have to believe in your tapas to be able to do this. So without any disappointment, our food came and it was delicious all around. Everything is cooked perfectly and flavorful. Not overwhelmingly salty unlike some of the other places we been and they truly delivered the value they promised at the door. Overall we had a quite enjoyable night and left the restaurant quite pleased! One thing to note, the restaurant is def crowded. The space is very small and they crammed as much table as they can in there. If that puts you off, please reconsider.
Robert Dahlström★★★★★
A nice tourist concept where you get to pay a set amount for different menus. We tried the low-tier one with a starter and 8 taps and two shots. It was more than enough for two people and we thought almost all of the tapas tasted good. A reasonably priced bottle of wine and the menu set us back just under 70 euros, which is a good price for all we got. The staff was friendly and did a great job too.
Jessica Friday★★★★★
We were given a recommendation to go here! I’m so glad we did 10/10 enjoyed everything we ate! We are from the tapas menu which had lots of variety. Mood lighting 10/10. Small intimate space.

(honestly 10 out of 5) Absolutely unforgettable experience in Barcelona Bodega Biarritz 1881 is everything you hope to find when travelling and so much more. The place is small, cosy, warm and full of character, but what truly makes it exceptional is the people. The staff are simply magnificent. They do not just serve food, they create a full experience. Every interaction felt genuine, thoughtful and incredibly personal. They honestly deserve an award for what they do here. From the cocktails through to the beers, tapas and paella, everything was exceptional. Every detail on the table felt carefully considered. It is not just about the food, which was absolutely delicious, it is about the care, the attention and those little touches that make the whole experience unforgettable. I do not think I have ever had such a memorable and heartfelt dining experience. You can genuinely feel that this place is made with love. It stood out as the best experience in Barcelona for me. If I ever go back to Barcelona, it would be for this place. Just WOW. Go and try it.

The food here is so good and unique, this was our first time trying tapas and it was a great experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and polite, that even recommended foods for us as this was our first time here from england Very good food recommend.

Hidden gem! We found this wonderful place and it was not only a great atmosphere but the food was 10/10. Authentic tapas from all over Spain, the wine as delicious as was the Iberian ham, homemade chips, bread, tomatoes with pistachio all wonderful and the entrecot was loved by teens and adults!
Shani Lau★★★★☆
Main dishes take about 35-60 mins to prepare. We were in a bit of a rush so we took a bunch of starters. Squid, coquilles, Iberico, scampi, carpaccio & artisjok. Truely delicious! However we do not recommend the Iberico. Do note that it‘s a bit pricey. Good cocktails!
Heather Young★★★★★
This hidden gem is one we happened upon as we headed to dinner elsewhere. Great outdoor seating in a quaint street so we stopped for cocktails. The next day, stopped again for pre-dinner patio cocktails and ended up getting some food. Turns out these were the best bites of food we had the entire trip. My only regret is we didn’t try more dishes. Truly the best restaurant we visited. Side note: much appreciate the server who allowed us to practice our awful (my awful, my husband’s just “ok”) Spanish with patience and encouragement.

Great place. First of all the hostess was very kind to begin with. We ordered lots of lots of tapas and they were all lovely. Our waiter Moha was kind and attentive. Thank you for the experience. Definitely will be back. Keep up the good work!

TERAS FEE %15 BE AWARE! I came here with really high expectations – the ratings were great and the prices looked very reasonable. I was genuinely excited to try this place. The food was good, don't get me wrong – but honestly, I've had better tapas elsewhere in Barcelona. However, the real shock came when we received the bill. Nowhere on the menu did it mention that there's a 15% service charge for sitting on the terrace! Normally, even a 10% service fee wouldn't bother me, but 15% just for being outside? That's completely unreasonable and feels like a hidden rip-off. When I politely asked about it, the response I got was really unpleasant and rude – absolutely uncalled for. So my advice: be very careful if you decide to sit on the terrace. Check the bill thoroughly and ask about extra charges beforehand. The food is fine, but the hidden fees and attitude left a very bad taste. Won't be coming back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolute 5-star experience! 🌟 The atmosphere here is top-notch. Huge thanks to Tina and Oscar for their incredibly friendly and professional service, as well as their spot-on menu recommendations! The food tasted amazing, especially the super fresh seafood. A truly perfect experience from start to finish. Highly recommend! 👍

We had such a great experience at Taller de Tapas! From the moment we sat down, Oscar and Marcelo made us feel genuinely welcome. They took the time to learn both my boyfriend’s and my names, which made the service feel so personal and fun. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was lively, and the view was beautiful. To top it all off, they surprised us with a complimentary shot at the end of our meal, which was such a thoughtful touch. We’ve eaten at a few different restaurants along this street, and this was by far our favorite. If you’re looking for amazing food, outstanding service, and a memorable experience, we highly recommend Taller de Tapas!

Exceptional service from our server tonight in Barcelona. Melina went above and beyond for our family — even arranging prawns that weren’t on the menu specially for our daughter. She also immediately replaced an oyster that didn’t taste right without hesitation, and every recommendation she gave us for dinner was spot on. We genuinely loved every dish and felt so well taken care of throughout the meal. Thank you for making our evening so memorable!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Vivo Tapas. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The food was exceptional—fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented. Every dish was full of flavor, but a few truly stood out. The chef’s octopus was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender, the fried squid ink dish was unforgettable, and the paella… I still can’t stop thinking about it. Honestly, it was so good it makes me want to fly back to Barcelona just to have it again. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations were spot-on and made our dining experience even more special. A special thank you to our servers, Matias and Tamara, who took such great care of us throughout the evening. And of course, compliments to the chef—truly outstanding. This is a place I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Barcelona.

Excellent food, very chill atmosphere. The pork I had is probably the best I have had: melt in your mouth, juicy, full of flavour. Another one I would recommend is the octopus which was cooked to perfection. Other tapas were also very good. The scallop was a bit of a letdown because of the price and the quality of the scallop wasn’t the best. But overall the food were still amazing. Also shout out to Emanuele who gave us exceptional service!
Elhgyne A.★★★★☆
We definitely loved the vibe! The place was beautiful, upscale, and aesthetically pleasing. Food however, did not surpass our expectation. It was all good, nothing expectacular though. Felt like we paid more for the presentation. Service was great. For a date night or a splurge, not bad.
Mindy Nguyen★★★★★
Excellent service and ambience and we also came on a night with a live singer performance! Our server, Tamara was so sweet and friendly and recommended one of our favorite dishes of the night, the sea bass carpaccio. Thank you Tamara! Would highly recommend for a great evening or date night.

I swung by on a weeknight and there was a long line outside. But a solo slot opened for one opened up and I ended up with a nice seating. The service is amazing. The food is delicious. I may have gone overboard trying various things, but everything form salad to salmon Remington (which I was lucky to get from the last few pieces) were awesome. The atmosphere is fun and I ended up having a good conversation with the people sitting next to me. They recommended I try the bread pudding as well, which turned out to be delicious. Overall a great experience. A must do for your Barcelona trip if you ask me.

We had such a wonderful meal at Vinitus! The tapas were delicious, the service was quick, and it was incredibly comfortable to enjoy our food in the air-conditioned restaurant with a refreshing glass of sangria. It genuinely made our travel experience in Spain even better. A special thank you to Johanna, who looked after us so warmly. She was friendly, attentive, and always smiling. She switched effortlessly between English and Spanish, asked where we were from, and even surprised us by saying “thank you” in Chinese! Her enthusiasm and kindness made us feel very welcome. Overall, it was a really enjoyable dining experience, and we would happily come back!

Bingo… the reference we took from travel blogger indeed a spot on. We tried this outlet in Madrid Gran Via restaurant during lunch hour but they took no reservation, as we rush for time, we skipped. While we were in Barcelona, we went early and we manage to get a table for at basement level. I must say this restaurant chain has their success formula. Service was swift & yet friendly. We ordered the items recommended by the HongKong bloggers to testify his comments. Beef+Goose liver, Gambas, seafood lobster rice, with Churros as desert for finale. We were extremely satisfied with the food served taste and freshness were of top notch. We ordered extra bread to dip the gambas gravy. Heaven! We share lobster seafood rice, yet again another winner, rice was well sautéed with well flavored lobster broth & al Dante cooked. The goose liver was way too good, was juicy and melt in the mouth, It was so fresh I could even spread it smoothly on the slice bread. We spent about 50min for our lunch without rush and feeling so satisfied. Definitely worth second visit for this restaurant chain.

f I could rate this place higher than 5 stars, I absolutely would. My visit to Vinitus was nothing short of spectacular. First, the wine selection is incredible—with around 70 labels on offer, they truly have something for everyone, perfectly curated to complement the meal. As for the food, every single dish was perfection. The concept is based on tapas, and everything is beautifully prepared and presented. We tried a bit of everything: the cuttlefish was tender and flavorful, the shellfish were incredibly fresh, and the various salads we tried were crisp and delicious. A massive standout was the risotto, which was rich, savory, and cooked to absolute perfection. We wrapped up the night with a selection of their desserts, and they were the perfect sweet ending to an amazing meal. The atmosphere is lively and beautiful, making the whole dining experience even better. If you are in Barcelona, Vinitus is an absolute must-visit. Food, wine, service, and vibe – a pure 10/10! I’ll definitely be back.

When I’m here for the first night, there’s a long wait, so I went to 2254 which is just next to it. Deeply regret my decision as I came back on the second night , Vinitus is a definitely MUST visit restaurant in Barcelona. If you are looking for authentic tapas that are fresh, high-quality, and incredibly flavorful, this is the place to be. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, which makes for a fun dining experience. Everything we ordered was delicious, but the razor clams and their signature honey cod were standout dishes that you simply cannot miss. Despite how busy they get, the staff is efficient, friendly, and handles the crowd remarkably well. It’s popular for a reason, so be prepared for a bit of a wait, but it is worth every minute. Highly recommended!

The food is delicious and very different to the usual tapas. It could be considered slightly more pricey but still very much worth to try. The service was great and the people were super nice. In terms of the atmosphere, there is no space between tables and it is super loud. If you are looking for a chill quiet place, it might not be your spot.

We had a phenomenal meal at this restaurant. We had reservations at 10 o’clock, but they were able to get us in earlier. Our server Jonathan was fairly new. Had only been here 2 weeks but he knew the menu very well and gave attentive service. We ordered a number of different tapas and every dish was excellent. Very flavorful and well-seasoned. I had the porn star cocktail. It was excellent. You could tell that they used very fresh ingredients. the restaurant is very popular with locals as well. It has an interesting ambience with large video screens displaying pictures from around Barcelona. I had the porn star cocktail. That was excellent. The owner of the restaurant was inspired as he took a trip from Palermo on a Vespa all the way to Barcelona. So the restaurant has a blend of Italian and Spanish foods. And the restaurant is named 2254 which is the miles that he traveled from Palermo. And the Vespa is in the front of the restaurant on the wall.

The portion of the carbonara was quite large, but the cheese probably wasn’t hot enough. As I was eating it, the cheese cooled down and became a little clumpy, sticking to the pasta, which was a bit of a shame. The risotto was a little salty, but the flavor was rich and intense. The tapas were all quite good.

Expected more from the food to be honest. Potatoe salad Tapas was way too much vinegar. Thousand layer potatoes was good, sardines as well. The sangria bottles are way overpriced and too strong for a sangria. Would give it another try with different food, cause service was good

Everything was truely amazing!!! Will definitely come back because I need to try ALL dishes. Also, the sangria 100% greatness in a glass. Thank you to Cielo for the lovely service and recommendations. Tip: come with a larger group so you can try multiple things 😋

Essential Tips for Your Tapas Crawl

To make the most of your culinary tour around Casa Batlló, it helps to understand the local etiquette and timing. Dining in Spain operates on a different clock than in many other countries, and knowing a few insider secrets will dramatically improve your experience. These guidelines will help you navigate the menus, avoid long waits, and taste the best dishes every bar has to offer.

1. Respect the local dining hours.
While many bars in this tourist-heavy area now open continuously, the best kitchens still follow traditional Spanish times. Lunch is usually served from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, and dinner rarely starts before 8:00 PM. If you arrive at 6:00 PM, you will likely find empty restaurants and cold food. Instead, use that time for a snack or a siesta, and join the locals later in the evening for the real atmosphere.

2. Order the "Especialidad de la Casa."
Every great tapas bar has a signature dish that made them famous. Instead of ordering the same generic patatas bravas everywhere you go, look for the specialty. It might be a specific type of croquette, a unique seafood conserva, or a slow-cooked meat. Asking the waiter, "What are you known for?" is the quickest way to eat the best food on the menu.

3. Stand at the bar if you are in a hurry.
Table service in Spain is relaxed; waiters will not rush you, and they often will not bring the check until you ask for it. If you want a quick, authentic experience and faster service, join the locals standing at the bar. Not only is it usually cheaper in some regions, but you also get to watch the bartenders slice jamón and pour wine right in front of you.

4. Pair your food with the right drink.
While sangria is popular with tourists, locals usually drink wine, beer (caña), or vermouth. In Barcelona, a glass of cava or a crisp white wine from the Penedès region pairs beautifully with seafood tapas. For heavier meats and stews, ask for a Rioja or a Ribera del Duero. Trust the house wine; it is often excellent and inexpensive.

5. Don’t fill up at the first stop.
A tapas crawl is a marathon, not a sprint. Order one or two small dishes per person at each location, pay the bill, and move on to the next spot. This allows you to experience the contrast between an old-school bodega and a modern gastrobar in a single evening. Save room for the last stop, where you might want a dessert or a digestive drink.

6. Carry some cash.
While credit cards are widely accepted in Barcelona, some of the smaller, more traditional bars may have a minimum spend for card payments or experience technical issues. Having a €20 or €30 note in your pocket ensures you can pay your bill quickly and move on to the next stop without hunting for an ATM.

Exploring the tapas scene near Casa Batlló is one of the most rewarding ways to connect with Barcelona’s living culture. It is a break from the museum queues and a chance to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with the people who call this vibrant city home. The clinking of glasses, the aroma of garlic and olive oil, and the lively chatter create a sensory experience that rivals the visual art of the buildings nearby.

Once you have finished your last bite and your final sip, take a moment to walk off the meal along Passeig de Gràcia. The illuminated facades of the modernist buildings provide a stunning backdrop for a slow evening stroll. By choosing the right bars and following these local customs, you will leave with a full stomach and a deeper appreciation for the rhythm of Spanish life.
