Sitting down to a plate of golden patatas bravas or slicing into a juicy secreto ibérico is a ritual in Madrid, but the experience is elevated when you find the right neighborhood haunt. Casa de Campo, the city’s sprawling green lung, offers a unique contrast to the urban hustle of the capital. After a morning hiking its trails, renting a rowboat on the lake, or visiting the zoo, the natural next step is to refuel with authentic Spanish flavors.
The areas bordering this massive park—including the charming streets of Alto de Extremadura, Puerta del Ángel, and the edges of the Latina district—are home to some of the most unpretentious and beloved watering holes in the city. These are not the tourist traps of the city center; they are the spots where locals gather for a caña and a tapa, where the bread is always crusty, and the olive oil flows freely. The culture here is loud, welcoming, and deeply tied to the rhythm of the neighborhood.
Finding the perfect tapas bar is about more than just the food; it is about the atmosphere. It is about standing at a crowded bar, elbowing your way to the counter, and pointing at the glistening seafood or the sizzling mushrooms. It is about the bartender remembering your face and the kitchen staying open just late enough to satisfy your hunger after a long walk through the pines.
Because the park is so vast, choosing where to eat can be overwhelming if you do not know the area. You want a place that offers value for money, high-quality ingredients, and that authentic "barrio" feel. Whether you are looking for a modern twist on a classic dish or a traditional tavern that has barely changed in decades, the perimeter of Casa de Campo has something for every palate.
The culinary landscape here leans heavily on traditional Castilian cuisine, with an emphasis on offal, fried fish, and hearty stews, but you will also find plenty of fresh seafood and modern tapas concepts. Many of these establishments are family-run, passing down recipes through generations, which ensures a level of authenticity that is hard to find elsewhere in the city. You can taste the pride in every spoonful of tripe stew or every slice of cured ham.
To help you navigate this gastronomic landscape, we have compiled a list of the very best spots to eat right now. We have considered the quality of the ingredients, the skill of the kitchen, the atmosphere, and the overall value. You will find classic institutions and local favorites that promise a memorable dining experience.
Below, you will find our curated selection of the top tapas bars near this iconic Madrid park.

The place was quite ok. The food was good but nothing that I blew my socks off. I felt like the restaurant itself was a bit touristic. Staff was accommodating and nice.
Tim Atanacio★★★★★
Incredible restaurant! The food tasted extremely fresh and authentic and was served quickly. Marci (I believe he’s the owner) was incredibly kind and accommodating. Even though there wasn’t a table available for my party when we arrived, we only had to wait for less than 10 minutes.
Now about the food. Each bite kept getting better and better! We ordered the Jamon Imperico, Bull Tail Gyoza, Honey Eggplant and the Crispy Fried Pig Ear and all of them were delicious! This was also enough food for 4 people. The jamon especially was some of the best we had during our trip. We would definitely come back!

Great place for tapas. There might be a bit of a wait, but totally worth it. Everything was super delicious, staff was nice.

Although the atmosphere seemed inviting, we were disappointed in the end.
First, the service was a bit slow. And not the friendliest we had encountered while on our trip. So not a good start.
When reviewing the menu, we ordered several tapas for the table. Once they arrived, we sampled all and felt the food lacked freshness compared to all the others we tried over the last several days.

Yummy food! Good portions! Good drinks! Nice small place with good service. The guys are funny too. Gave us Americans some shots and recommendations for churros as they were closing late on a Sunday night. Awesome experience! The area outside is very nice too. Shops, more restaurants and good views.

I visited many tapas bars during my few days in Madrid, and this one left the strongest impression on me.
It was small, loud, and crowded like most places in the area during the evening. We had to wait for a table, and the one we got was in a less-than-pleasant corner of the basement. But… the food and the homemade vermouth were the best I’ve ever tried. Excellent taste and presentation. The waiter was very professional, which made the experience even better.
I would definitely recommend visiting!

Unfortunately the food didn’t match the fantastic service. We shared various plates such as the anchovies with tomato and bread ,the anchovies with blue cheese , cured ham which in fairness was very nice and smoky. The black pudding and also pork cheeks were very disappointing, dry and lacklustre.
The vermouth was exceptional as was the waiters service.
I feel sad the food wasn’t the same.
Columbus OH★★★★☆
We were seated downstairs, which was noticeably less appealing than the upstairs area. Our table was wobbly, and switching tables didn’t help. The bathroom door looked dirty, and the downstairs space overall felt unkempt. Service was very slow; the waiter was clearly working hard, running up and down the stairs, but simply couldn’t keep up.
That said, the food was tasty, especially the fish balls. We ended up ordering two. Main dish portions were on the small side though. If we had been seated upstairs, the experience might have been much better.

We arrived hungry at 4 pm on Friday after a long day of traveling. Got ourselves 2 stools and a table. Our waiter took care of the customers in the order they came in. We ordered what he recommended #1, 5, 9 and 2 glasses of house white. He gave us a some anchovies and chips while we waited.
All I can say is.. It was so delicious!
The tapas came in this order and one was better than before.
9. Smoked sardines on (freshly mashed tomatoes) toast.
5. Smoked salmon with tzatziki sauce (lovely black caviar) on toast.
1. Prawn with mayonnaise and spring onion spread on toast. It came out hot and the shrimp was fresh and cooked perfectly.
We ordered a third glass to share because the wine paired so well with the prawn toast.
We got full, happy, and satisfied.
We really enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend Taberna La Concha.
Barbara Bačurin★★★★★
NOT a tourist trap!
Get the prawn on toast as well as the pork in 3 cheese sauce on toast along with the vermouth cocktail. You will love it! From the service (Kristian was an amazing host!), the food, the atmosphere - its everything you want from a tapas bar on THE tapas street in Madrid. Genuinely sad we went there on our last night bacause we would definitely have come back multiple times during our stay.

If you are looking for the perfect paella when visiting Madrid this is the place! The rice was cooked on point in every ways: moist yet just the right crunchiness. The flavor was fresh and just the right balance between salty and sweetness; sweetness from the fresh seafood ingredient. Sangria was so good too. Harold was the server and he was so nice and friendly! Definitely make you very welcomed. I would definitely visit this place again and again.

Stopped by Casa Garsia and had a great experience. The one-person paella was surprisingly flavorful and perfectly cooked — not something you always find in smaller portions. Paired it with a cold beer, which made it even better. The atmosphere is really cozy and relaxed, the kind of place where you can just sit back and enjoy your meal without rushing. Definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby.
Ana Orozco★★★★★
This place had amazing service and food! It was our first time eating paella since visiting Spain, and it was 😍. I ordered the vegetable paella, and my partner ordered the paella with duck, and our kids had two orders of octopus tentacles. Our server, Harold, was very attentive and friendly, and made us feel right at home. We will absolutely be back here during our next visit to Madrid!

We randomly walked into this restaurant and it did not disappoint! It was a homemade meal—very delicious! I had the baked chicken with rice. So light on the stomach, and the sauce was fantastic! Lovely staff and owner! 10/10 recommend!

The food was surprisingly good. The risotto, the ensalada mixta, chipirones were really good. The settings are nice and we all enjoyed our lunch very much.

Great location on the edge of Casa de Campo by the lake. Waiters are friendly and attentive however please note that they do not speak English. It is not an issue but be prepared.
Food was excellent - we tried the risotto with mushroom, the black Angus burger and the chicken strips with BBQ sauce. Probably the best BBQ sauce I have ever tasted.
I would highly recommend this spot.
Kofta Chalau (Koftachalau)★☆☆☆☆
We had a table outside, which was nice and the view was great but that's it to be honest.
Ordered a steak medium but it came well done. The waiter brought a second steak which was then rare, so he rolled his eyes when I asked again for my medium steak.
In the end the waiter brought me again a steak well done and burned...
In the end the waiter charged us also 5 times bread but never brought us bread. He took the bread of the bill but left the over cooked steak on their.
Not a great experience and wouldn't recommend the place.

We went to see Casa de Campo without a plan as to where to eat. We went to La Taberna El Urogallo as we felt it was for us. We sat outside and enjoyed the great views, the birds, outstanding service and most importantly the food. The waiter immediately brought us a complimentary plate heaped with a salad of potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, tuna and olive oil. It was so good that we decided to add it to our menu the next time we entertain our friends. I had the Pulpito a la Parilla, the most tender, tasty octopus I have had here in our month in Madrid. My partner had the Lubina a la Espalda, very fresh and flavourful accompanied with great tasting sliced / lightly fried potatoes. The whole sea bass had been halved and the bones removed, nice touch! Thanks to Oscar and the staff for a great, memorable meal!

El Minibar is an absolute gem in Madrid! The food is wonderful, offering creative and delicious tapas like the award-winning Tapa Bretón. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home instantly. On top of that, the space is beautiful, cozy, and full of character. It is the perfect spot for a casual yet memorable dinner. Highly recommended!

A small place near central Madrid. Air conditioned which was a savior today at 98degrees. Had a tomato and lettuce salad, gazpacho, spiced potatoes and fried cod with shrimp. Everything was excellent and in tapas portions was more than enough for two people. All washed down with beer. The menu is larger and varied and portions can be tapas sized or larger for sharing with a bigger group. Definitely worth a lunch or dinner stop.

Excellent tapas experience in Madrid. I came here on a Sunday afternoon around 1:00 PM right when they opened, and within a few minutes the place filled up quickly. I didn’t have a reservation, but since I was dining solo they were kind enough to seat me. You may want reservations if you’re coming during busy hours.
I had the melted goat cheese appetizer with what tasted like fig jam and a balsamic glaze, paired with the bread they served, absolutely delicious and very rich in the best way. I also ordered the ham croquettes, which were excellent as well. Between those two dishes and two Cokes, it was more than enough food for one person.
The atmosphere is quaint and very Madrid. The staff was efficient and friendly. I read many great reviews beforehand and after eating here I understand why. A local favorite. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic tapas in central Madrid.
Timothy Redman★★★★★
My dining companion and I were looking for a quick drink and snack after touristing hard. We found this cozy place right off the main drag. We ordered drinks, and food, tuna tataki, and the duck confit. Both delightfully tasty, savory, and rich. What a treat! Our appetite satiated, we once again took to the crowded streets of Madrid.
Josh Siu★★★★★
Food was good. Service was good (although we heard one of the servers be a bit curt with the next table about having to buy food to sit at the table, not just drinks). They offered a free little tapa while we waited for our food. Space is a bit smaller so you might be at the bar during a busy time.
My spouse wanted lemonade but they didn’t have any. When asked for water with lemon and they cut an entire lemon to add to her water - awesome!
What to got:
- ham croquettes
- shrimp croquettes (a hint of spiciness)
- crispy wild boar (in a spring roll deep fried outer layer)

A very beautiful restaurant , we sat
outside , the heaters were on and the temperature was very well controlled .
The staff serving us , were extremely professional and helped us out with the English menu and even some recommendations.
I ordered the Goat Cheese Salad , which I thoroughly enjoyed with a glass of chilled beer.
After our dinner we were also served , Spanish schnapps compliments from the restaurant.

Octopus with Boiled Potato 18 € ★★★★☆
The octopus is incredibly tender—clearly boiled without salt to keep it soft. The potatoes are nicely salted, balancing the overall flavor. The olive oil has a pleasant chili kick and pairs beautifully with the bread.
Rosé Wine 3.7 € ★★★★★
Refreshing and perfectly chilled. Great value for the price.
It was a bit hard to communicate with the waiters in English, but they were reasonably friendly. The atmosphere inside was excellent.

I had lunch here on my second day in Madrid. While the restaurant itself was clean and had a nice atmosphere, the service left a terrible impression.
Two of us ordered four dishes, and the staff automatically placed the order for the largest size for all of them, completely failing to mention that there were different sizes. We only figured out what happened after seeing the huge portions served to our table. Of course, they charged us the most expensive price for the large sizes.
As for the food, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn't particularly delicious either.
For a table of just two people, a proper server should have recommended smaller portions or at least explained the menu sizes. There was zero guidance.
Honestly, if the service had been fine, I might have come back. But because of this dishonest and careless service, I have absolutely no desire to return. The price itself wasn't the issue, but paying that amount for this level of food and service for two people felt like a total rip-off.

Highly recommended bar, we had a delicious meal! The scrambled eggs with chistorra sausage, the sirloin steak toast with caramelized onions, the beef sirloin, the patatas bravas, and the bread were all fantastic, and the portions were very generous. The service was excellent and very friendly; they explained everything to us regarding the portion sizes. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much!

The best bar in the neighborhood. I recommend the tortilla (they make it fresh) and the nuggets for the kids are homemade. The paellas are delicious, but they have to be ordered in advance. The only problem is that they only have one waiter on the terrace. The guy is very nice and does a great job, but he could use some help. You have to come when you're not in a hurry.

Really love this place. A hidden gem of Madrid with Andalucian vibes. Clean, with great services and friendly staff. Tasty food at affordable prices. Great variety of dishes and tapas. Good deal for the table of four toasts. I would recommend to make a reservation or be there before 13:00.

We were a group of six and went there around seven in the evening without reservation and got a table without a problem. The place seems small but it has another room downstairs where you can sit. The waitress was really nice and suggested us to try their specialty which hate their sandwiches.
So we each choose a different kind to try as many as possible and we weren’t disappointed. The bread was huge for the price and everyone of them was delicious. To drink we all hat either a soda or beer. They don’t have Radler there but they gently offered to mix it themselves with a lemonade.
All in all a great place for tapas at a low price and with very good taste. Will definitely come back!

Amazingly delicious tapas! The place looks small and full when you enter but go in anyway. They have more place at downstairs. It is a very local place and they don’t have English menu. You need to use translation tools to order also 🙂 the vegetarian options are limited but so delicious! The one with caramelised onion is a bless for the mouth!!

Solomillo, mostaza, bacon, brie, pimiento y cebolla caramelizada ( huevo frito + 0,5€), and 2 beers for 14euros. Im coming back tomorrow.
If you’re in Madrid, make the effort to get here—you won’t regret it. Easily a 10/10 experience.

It very friendly local restaurant. Prices are very reasonable. My hotel is near this restaurant, so I came here almost every morning. (Since it is not tourist area, usually i am the only non local). Each food prices are already amazing but if you choose lunch specials(€9.9) it comes with small salad, 1 drink, 2 small main menu, and even coffee. Amount food also enough.

I honestly don't understand how a place can have QR code only menus and not offer Wi Fi. Not everyone has mobile data, especially tourists who have just arrived and may not have a local connection yet.
We ended up just having a drink and leaving. The service was rude, and the whole experience felt unwelcoming from the start.

Great food, fun atmosphere, and a really unique place. We tried the Crazy Tasting Menu and everything we had was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The cocktails were also excellent and served in very creative glasses.
The décor and overall vibe make the experience different from a typical restaurant, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the evening.
The only small downside is that the tables are quite close to each other, so it can feel a bit crowded when the restaurant is full. Other than that, we had a fantastic time and would definitely come back. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Madrid!

What a fun place! We were at their location across the street, called Chic. We wanted something different and this checked all the boxes. We had to order everything at the same time, but food and drinks came out quickly. Ask about portion sizes if you aren't sure - the bao buns are ordered by each bun, not i.e. a plate of 3 & the risotto was too large to eat by yourself. All of the drinks were tasty & they brought us a free shot at the end! We would visit again!
Brant Brown★★★★★
Rosi La Loca is a wonderfully ridiculous stop in Madrid, and I mean that as a compliment. This is not the place for a quiet, candlelit dinner where you whisper about life goals. It is bright, loud, colorful, creative, and committed to the bit. The energy is the main event. The food and sangria were good, but what you really remember is the room, the plating, the snakes holding drinks, the neon bathroom situation, and the general feeling that someone gave a design team sugar and no adult supervision.
The sangria was excellent, and the ham croquettes were the standout. Truly A+. Like lay-in-bed-later-thinking-about-them good. Service was also fun and friendly, which matters in a place this playful. It could easily become gimmicky and annoying, but it didn’t. The staff seemed to understand the assignment.
A couple of practical notes: the QR menu is terrible, so bring patience or someone at the table who enjoys fighting technology before dinner. Seating can also be a little awkward, depending on where they put you. I’d reserve ahead, go in expecting more “colorful outing” than traditional fine dining, and not make this your big romantic Madrid dinner unless your version of romance includes pink lighting and cocktail snakes.
Overall, I loved it. I’d score it a 4.5 that gets rounded up to a friendly 5. It is not quite a 5 in the traditional restaurant sense, but it absolutely delivers on what it is trying to be: fun, memorable, creative, and a little nuts in the best way.

My first dinner in Madrid and it was a great experience. Excellent food, beautiful atmosphere, and professional service. I arrived late due to a navigation issue, but the staff handled it gracefully and still welcomed me warmly. They also carefully accommodated my dietary restrictions and prepared a non-alcoholic celebratory shot for me. Bravas Locas and Burrata Alocada were delicious. Great value for the quality of the experience.
Tips for Enjoying Tapas Near Casa de Campo
Navigating the tapas scene in a residential area like this requires a bit of local know-how. While the hospitality is generally warm, understanding the unwritten rules of the barrio will ensure you have a seamless and delicious experience. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a seasoned Madrid local, these practical tips will help you eat like a true "gato" (a nickname for Madrid natives). Here is how to make the most of your culinary tour around the park.
1. Time Your Visit Like a Local
Spanish meal times are famously late. If you arrive at 7:00 PM, you might find the kitchen closed or the bar empty. Lunch (la comida) is typically served between 1:30 PM and 4:00 PM, while dinner (la cena) rarely starts before 8:30 PM. For the best atmosphere and the freshest food, aim to arrive right when the kitchen opens for the lunch rush or after 9:00 PM for the evening crowd.
2. Master the Art of Ordering
In many of the traditional bars near Casa de Campo, you do not need to sit at a table to get good service. In fact, standing at the bar is often where the magic happens. Do not be shy about flagging down the bartender with a polite "Perdona" or "Cuando puedas." It is common to order one or two items at a time, share them with your group, and then order the next round to ensure everything arrives hot.
3. Know Your House Specialties
Almost every great tapas bar has a "specialty of the house" that they are famous for. Before you order, look around at what other diners are eating or ask the staff, "¿Cuál es la especialidad?" (What is the specialty?). Whether it is a specific type of croqueta, a unique cut of meat, or a particular seafood dish, ordering the signature item is the surest way to guarantee a great meal.
4. Embrace the "Caña"
While wine and vermouth are popular, the standard drink to accompany tapas in this area is the caña—a small glass of draft beer. It is light, refreshing, and designed to be drunk quickly while it is still cold, pairing perfectly with fried and salty foods. If you want something a bit larger, you can ask for a "doble," but the small size of the caña keeps the beer cold and the pace of the meal lively.
5. Be Prepared for Cash (Sometimes)
While the world is moving digital, some of the older, more traditional taverns on the outskirts of the park may have a minimum spend for card payments or still prefer cash. It is always wise to carry a €20 or €30 note in your pocket just in case. This is especially true if you are just hopping in for a quick coffee, a single beer, or a small snack.
The beauty of eating near Casa de Campo lies in the authenticity of the experience. You are sharing space with families who have lived in these streets for generations and workers grabbing a quick lunch before heading back to the office. It is a slice of real Madrid life, far removed from the souvenir shops and paella chains of the center.
As you finish your meal, consider taking a slow stroll back through the park to walk off the feast. The transition from the bustling, noisy bar to the quiet, green canopy of the pines is a uniquely Madrid pleasure. It allows you to digest not just the food, but the entire experience of the neighborhood. Whether you came for the zoo or the cable car, the tapas you find here will likely be the highlight of your day.
