Nice has always been a magnet for travelers seeking Mediterranean light, Belle Époque architecture, and a slow, sun-drenched way of life. Yet beyond the Promenade des Anglais and the old town’s bustling markets, a quieter ritual unfolds daily: the search for the perfect aesthetic pause.
For many visitors, finding a beautifully designed café is no longer a simple coffee break—it is an essential part of experiencing the city’s contemporary creative soul. The modern café scene in Nice reflects a shift from purely functional espresso bars to immersive, design-led spaces.
Interiors now feature curated vintage furniture, hand-painted murals, lush greenery, and carefully considered lighting that flatters both the pastries and the people eating them. These are places where the visual experience rivals the culinary one, and where the atmosphere is crafted as meticulously as the latte art.
Choosing an aesthetic café is about more than just taking a beautiful photograph, although that is certainly part of the appeal. It is about finding a space that feels like an extension of your own taste, whether you prefer minimalist Scandinavian lines, maximalist floral décor, or sun-bleached Mediterranean textures.
The right environment can transform a quick caffeine fix into a memorable moment of travel-inspired calm. In this guide, we focus on the addresses that locals return to and design enthusiasts admire. We have considered the quality of the coffee and food, the uniqueness of the interior design, the consistency of the atmosphere, and the overall sense of place.
Each recommendation aims to offer you not just a drink, but a distinct visual and sensory experience that feels authentically Niçoise. The neighborhoods covered range from the historic Vieux Nice to the artistic Quartier des Musiciens and the up-and-coming Port district.
This variety ensures that whether you are staying near the beach, exploring the antique markets, or venturing beyond the tourist center, you are never far from a beautiful place to sit and recharge. These spaces often double as galleries, concept stores, or florists, adding layers of local culture to your visit.
Below, you will find a curated selection of the most visually compelling and welcoming cafés in Nice. Each entry has been chosen for its ability to deliver a genuinely aesthetic environment without sacrificing the quality of what is in your cup. Keep this list handy when planning your daily explorations along the Côte d’Azur.

Absolutely outstanding specialty coffee.
If I remember correctly, they had around five different coffees available for V60, divided into regular and premium options, which is always a nice touch.
We ordered two of the premium Colombian coffees as iced V60s for €11 each. My rule with specialty coffee is that I won't drink it if it's under €5. You pay for the quality you want, and these coffees were worth every euro.
These were genuinely the best iced V60 coffees we have ever had. We've had specialty coffee all across Europe and the US, and these were exceptional. If you're looking for the best specialty coffee in Nice, you have to stop here.
I also really appreciated the little touches from the baristas. Before brewing, they brought out the freshly ground coffee for us to smell. It's a small gesture, but it's exactly the kind of thing I love at a serious specialty coffee shop.
The shop is tucked away in a cute little alleyway near Old Nice. It does get quite busy, and we ended up standing outside while we drank our coffees, but that wasn't an issue for us at all.
If we come back to Nice during a colder season, we'll definitely be back to try their V60s hot.

I stopped by La Claque Coffee Shop during my visit to Nice and was very impressed. The coffee was excellent, clearly made with care and high-quality beans. The atmosphere is cozy, relaxed, and perfect for taking a break while exploring the Old Town. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with recommendations. Great pastries, great coffee, and a nice local vibe. Definitely one of the best coffee spots I visited on the French Riviera and a place I would gladly return to

La Claque Coffee Shop is the kind of boutique café that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the moment. The atmosphere is charming and perfect for starting the day.
My wife and I both ordered iced lattes with oat milk and vanilla flavoring, and of course I had to add an extra shot of espresso.
We also shared a pistachio brioche, and wow… what a flavortastic moment! Soft, buttery, and filled with delicious pistachio flavor, it paired perfectly with the coffee.
Afterward, we headed off to wander the beautiful little streets of Nice, feeling fully caffeinated and ready for adventure.

A lovely little gem tucked away in Nice. La Claque is a small, cozy coffee shop with limited seating, but plenty of charm and warmth. We tried their specials — the ube latte and the rosemary latte — and both were absolutely delicious and surprisingly well balanced. It’s always fun to find creative flavors done right, and these definitely delivered.
The staff were incredibly friendly and relaxed, creating a chilled, welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger (if you’re lucky enough to snag a seat). Perfect for a quick coffee stop or a calm break while exploring the city.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A hidden gem that became our daily ritual
We stumbled upon La Claque Café Boutique on our first morning in Nice — and ended up coming back every single day for the rest of our trip. Three days, three visits. That says everything.
This place has a soul that’s hard to find in most coffee shops. The vibe is warm, intimate, and unpretentious, tucked perfectly in the heart of Old Nice. But let’s talk about what really matters: the coffee is exceptional.
If you’re even remotely a coffee lover, do yourself a favour and order the Guatemalan espresso. It’s complex, smooth, and has just the right brightness — the kind of cup that makes you slow down and actually savour it. The cortado was equally outstanding — perfectly balanced milk-to-espresso ratio, beautifully executed every time.
The staff clearly take their craft seriously without being snobby about it. They were warm, knowledgeable, and made us feel like regulars from day one.
At €1–10, it’s also incredibly reasonable for the quality you’re getting.
If you’re visiting Nice, skip the tourist-trap cafés on the main drag and find your way here. You’ll probably end up coming back tomorrow too. 🙌

Lovely breakfast spot in Nice with a small but flavourful menu. The coffee is good, the service is quick enough even though it’s only 2 staff. The food is really tasty and fresh. We came back here multiple times on our stay in Nice.

A picturesque little coffee shop in Nice. We came here several times during our trip because it had the best coffee. Great flat whites, the chocolate chip cookie was amazing, scones with cream/jam made a great snack.
Christina Lopp★★★★★
Lovely warm cafe with nice seating and delicious food all made here. Excellent coffee, baked goods and even soft boiled eggs at breakfast. On a tiny street in Old Nice.

Really excellent coffee and brunch. I had toasted brioche with rhubarb compote, which was fabulous and small portion which suited me just fine (as otherwise would be very indulgent for breakfast)

Best breakfast in Nice so far. We came to try their granola bowl, which looked amazing from the pictures, and it exceeded our expectations. An explosion of flavors, with delicious seasonal fruits and some chestnut puree - it was to die for. Also, I loved their fresh juice and golden latte. A must-try if you are around! 10/10

I really enjoyed my visit to Hug Cafe! I ordered a latte and gluten-free banana bread; both were excellent. My latte was extra hot, just the way I like it, and kept me warm during my walk to the tram. The location is convenient, and the staff were warm and friendly, making the whole experience even better. This is a cozy spot that I'd definitely return to. Hug Cafe is worth a visit!

Nice little place with very good coffee.
I came here for breakfast on 1st January when all the bakeries were still closed. I had a very good flat white and discovered what they call the "Crookie", a mix of cookie and croissant, which I found a fun twist.
There is not much place to sit insight.
Mariia Tseloeva★☆☆☆☆
Had a filter coffee that was transparent. Had a half of the sip. Instead of returning back the money, got a coffee twice cheaper than I payed for the filter. Barista said that it was a present for me. Never again.
I would also like to clarify the legal aspect of this situation.
I understand that taste is subjective, and I am not claiming that a customer is legally entitled to a refund simply because they dislike a particular coffee profile.
However, my complaint was not simply that I disliked the taste. The €6 filter coffee I received was extremely thin and almost transparent, to the point that I could barely drink it. This raises a question of whether the beverage was properly prepared and whether the service was performed as expected.
Under French contract law, in the event of imperfect performance, a consumer may seek a proportionate reduction of the price (Article 1217 of the French Civil Code, with the price-reduction mechanism set out in Article 1223).
I therefore find it misleading to describe the €2.80 replacement coffee as an “entirely free of charge” solution while retaining the full €6 price of the original drink. The fact that the replacement was free does not change the fact that I paid €6 for a beverage I could barely consume.
I would have considered a reasonable solution to be a refund or an appropriate reduction of the price of the original €6 coffee.
I hope you will reconsider your response and the way this situation has been characterized.

Amazing coffee! The smell of light roasted coffee hits you when you enter. The first sign of good coffee. The taste was immaculate. It's dog friendly too, but don't let that hold you back if you're scared of dogs. The dogs and owners are friendly and keep to themselves. Their own dog is very cute

A lovely café with a great atmosphere, cool interior, and friendly staff. The best cappuccino I’ve had in a long time! Highly recommended!
elrefay albaz★☆☆☆☆
Honestly, this was the worst Iced Flat White I’ve ever had. There were only two pieces of ice in the drink, which was nowhere near enough to make it properly cold.
I was also planning to get a piece of cake or dessert, but I noticed flies around the desserts, with no apparent attention from the staff.
Very disappointing experience, both in terms of the coffee and the hygiene. I definitely expected much better.
Knut Øvrehus★★★★★
After trying 10+ coffeebars in Nice, this is the place. They're the only place I have found that have filter coffee, they have by far the best food to go with the coffee (and it's all vegan!), all the dogs inside and out make for a lovely visit, and the people working here are great. There really is no reason to not visit again and again.

We visited Nice last week, and this was our favourite place to get coffee! Not only was the coffee delicious, but the staff were so lovely and patient with our rusty French. We felt so welcomed and came back several times. The Madeleine cakes were also lovely.

Wow! One of the most wonderful food experiences in Nice. To rate this as the best coffee in Nice doesn’t do it justice. Imagine the pleasure of walking into this small welcoming space, to find warm madeleines fresh out of the oven. Thank you, Karlie, for the best start to my Saturday!

Based on Google reviews, it seems like a good place, but we had a bad experience maybe we just got unlucky! 😅We wanted breakfast, and when we sat down inside to check out the QR code menu, a staff member quickly approached with a very cold, stressed expression. She stated without any explanation that the kitchen was closed (at 9:20 AM!) and that they only had cakes, pastries, croissants from the display case, and coffee to offer. Yet, you could see other tables still receiving dishes prepared in the kitchen... ☹️I don't know what their problem was that day, but I found the service really poor—no smiles, no warm welcome. It felt like a student-run business where you're a nuisance to them; they seemed to lack any knowledge of customer service or communication, perhaps they're in the wrong line of work. So, we just ordered coffee to go, and it was very average. If you're on vacation in Nice, go somewhere else so this place doesn't spoil your experience... My advice to the owners: invest in communication and customer service training if you want to stay in this business.

If we’re talking about brunch, I’ll be the first one to be honest.
French toast was SOOO delicious, with a lot of fruits on top and the right amount of syrup. I was craving a French toast and it made me really happy.
My mom tried the chicken burger and she was really happy about it too, the chicken was crispy and juicy.
Staff was super cool, and the girl with red hair and red eyeliner was super sweet. I asked for a lemonade and I didn’t know it was gonna be in a bottle, kinda like a soda. So I said I thought it was a freshly squeezed lemonade and she said they could make that too. 💗🍋
Music is cool but keep in mind is a little loud, so if you’re looking for a quiet place this is not it.
If you’re going for the vibes and the good food, I highly recommend it 🙂↕️
Thank youuu! 🙌🏼

We made reservations to avoid a potential queue at 12:30. We got straight in and enjoyed everything we had. The highlights are:
•nice coffee.
•all food choices we had were excellent quality of food options, fresh tasting ingredients and well presented.
•friendly staff all round and a very helpful waitress that spoke English fluently.
•healthier choices with some higher protein options and a few optional extras to add to meals - ideal for me looking to maintain a high protein, lower carb diet.
•a comfortable temperature on a hot day in July.
•comfortable seats.
•nice decor.
•enough space to avoid sitting with neighbours on adjacent tables.

We absolutely loved Fino Café and are so glad we stopped by. We visited right after Christmas, and the café was beautifully decorated with cozy holiday décor, which made the atmosphere extra warm and inviting.
Even around 2pm, the place was still fairly busy — a great sign — but we were lucky enough to get a table. We ordered an open-faced toast and a sandwich, and both were delicious. The bread was especially fresh and flavorful, which really made the dishes stand out.
The coffee was smooth, well-balanced, and very enjoyable — exactly what you want from a great café. Overall, wonderful food, great coffee, and a lovely vibe. We would absolutely come back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Nice.

The server was friendly and the atmosphere was okay, but the food was the worst part of the experience.
I had the worst croissant of my life—it wasn’t crispy at all and felt like I was chewing a piece of paper. There was no fresh buttery aroma or flavor. The pain au chocolat was just as disappointing.
The iced coffee was extremely weak and tasted more like flavored water than coffee. My friend even commented that she had never had such a weak iced coffee before. The detox juice was okay, but nothing special.
I won’t be coming back.

This was (with certainty) the most welcoming cafe in all of France. I was immediately greeted with a welcome, a menu, and soon after a chai latte and fresh focaccia bread. I left with one of the best hazelnut cookies I’ve ever had and the food and service did not disappoint. Would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling through Nice or that lives here.

Amazing place, vibe, and owners.
Warm and inviting, they were quick to help us pick out some items and were extremely engaging in conversation, all the while continuing to prepare deliciousness in the background!

Caffé Orso in Nice is truly a magical 🌟 place. Everything feels perfect: the stunning decor, the uplifting atmosphere, and most importantly, the special people who make this place so unique. The owner is an incredible inspiration, radiating warmth and hospitality in every detail.
The coffee is amazing, with a great selection of milk options, and the pastries are simply delicious. There’s also a fantastic gluten-free noisette🌰 cake and vegan cookies 🍪 to enjoy. This is one of those secret spots you’ll fall in love with from the very first visit!🫶🏼🙏🏼♥️🌟

Absolutely stunning cafè! The little bear desserts were delicious and coffee is amazing. Beautiful atmosphere with the gentle Italian music 🎶. Wish I found this place sooner in my stay in Nice.

Delicious food in a lovely environment. The owner bakes everything in-house with expertise and care. The focaccia sandwich was incredible! One of the best things we ate during our entire trip.

A wonderful little coffee shop in Nice! The coffee was absolutely delicious—easily one of the best I’ve had in the city. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The croissants were fresh, flaky, and absolutely delicious. I also loved that they have outdoor seating, which makes it a perfect spot to enjoy your coffee while soaking up the atmosphere of Nice. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great coffee, tasty pastries, and warm service!

Good cappuccino, very smooth and mild. The latte art was spot on (see picture) and the coffee shop is beautiful but it’s standing room only, no place to sit. I loved it but important to know if you are looking for a place to settle for a bit.
A lot of customers were ordering the fresh fruit smoothie, I will definitely try them later.

We visited SAVVA
Coffee several times during our stay in Nice, and it was always a great experience. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help.
The coffee was absolutely delicious—one of the best we had during our trip! The quality was consistently excellent, and the warm atmosphere made us want to come back again and again.
Highly recommended if you’re looking for great coffee and outstanding service in Nice!

Some of the worst croissants I’ve ever had, and the iced matcha orange was no better. They get a very poor rating for that reason. Staff speaks English and were nice, though. No seating available, but you can stand; which isn’t uncommon here.

Best coffee in town. The beans are imported from Italy and fire roasted. One of the best lattes I’ve ever had. The OJ is fresh-pressed and amazing. Solid croissants. Very friendly team that works there too! Love this place!!

A really solid option for breakfast, especially if you’re looking for something reliable and well-located. The place stands out for its perfect location — super convenient whether you’re starting your day or just passing by.
The coffee is genuinely good, not just average like in many breakfast spots, and pairs well with their morning options. Service is smooth and efficient, making it easy to grab something quickly without feeling rushed.
The space itself is clean and well-maintained, which always makes a difference early in the day. It’s also great to see they offer free WiFi, making it a comfortable spot if you need to check emails or sit down for a bit.
A nice bonus is their loyalty stamp card program — a simple but effective way to reward regular customers and encourage coming back.
Overall, a dependable breakfast spot with good coffee, a welcoming atmosphere, and thoughtful extras that make the experience better.

Beautiful start to the day — the avocado and egg toast was perfectly prepared and generously sized. The homemade mayonnaise is a must-try. The latte was smooth and creamy. Special thanks to the lovely English-speaking lady for the warm service. Easily one of the best café experiences in the area. Highly recommend!

If you love Scandinavian cinnamon rolls, you NEED to visit Copenhagen Coffee Lab in Nice 😍
The cinnamon and cardamom buns here are honestly next level soft, buttery, perfectly spiced and not overly sweet!
Everything tastes super fresh and homemade, and the matcha is amazing too. One of my favorite spots in Nice for a cozy coffee & pastry break 🍵🥐

Delicious breakfast sandwiches and several varieties were on the menu. The 3 ladies on staff were hustling as they were busy with lines of customers, as expected, given the quality of coffee and food! They definitely could have used 1-2 more helpers with stocking supplies and bussing tables. As long as the customers are patient, the experience will be great and well worth it for the quality of their offerings!
(note: I thought I took a picture of the breakfast sandwich. I guess I didn’t because I was so ready to consume it! lol)

The pressed ham and raclette sandwich was really good. Coffee was fantastic as well. 1 of the worker had a hard time understanding any english, but luckily the other 2 workers were great in english so we managed.
Making the Most of Nice’s Aesthetic Café Scene
To truly enjoy these beautiful spaces, a little local knowledge goes a long way. Timing, etiquette, and an understanding of French café culture will help you secure the best seats, enjoy a more relaxed experience, and connect more deeply with the rhythm of the city. The following tips are designed to help you navigate these aesthetic destinations like an insider rather than a passing tourist.
1). Arrive early or slightly off-peak
The most photogenic cafés in Nice fill up quickly, especially on weekends and during the summer months. If you want to experience the space quietly or take photos without disrupting other guests, aim to arrive shortly after opening or during the mid-afternoon lull between lunch and the evening aperitivo hour. You will find the light softer and the atmosphere far more serene.
2). Embrace the terrace culture
Much of the aesthetic appeal of Nice lies in its outdoor spaces, from hidden courtyards to sun-drenched sidewalk terraces. While the interiors may be stunning, sitting outside allows you to people-watch and absorb the Mediterranean atmosphere. Always ask for a table on the terrace if the weather is pleasant, but be aware that some cafés charge a small supplement for outdoor service.
3). Look beyond the coffee menu
Many of the most beautiful cafés in Nice double as patisseries, florists, or concept stores. Take time to explore the entire space, including the pastry counter, the curated retail shelves, and the restroom area, which often reveals the owner’s attention to detail. Ordering a seasonal pastry or a fresh juice can also give you a better sense of the café’s overall philosophy than a simple espresso.
4). Respect the space and the people in it
Aesthetic cafés are not photography studios, and the people around you are there to relax. If you want to take photos, be discreet, avoid using flash, and never move furniture or props without asking. Many owners are happy to accommodate content creators if you purchase something first and ask politely, but always prioritize the comfort of other guests.
5). Use the café as a neighborhood anchor
Rather than hopping from one café to another across the city, choose one beautiful spot as your base for exploring a specific quartier. Spend an hour there in the morning, then walk to nearby boutiques, galleries, or viewpoints. This slower approach will help you discover hidden streets and local shops that you might otherwise miss while rushing between locations.
The aesthetic café scene in Nice is constantly evolving, with new spaces opening each season and established favorites refining their interiors and menus. What remains consistent is the city’s commitment to beauty, hospitality, and the simple pleasure of lingering over a well-made drink in a thoughtfully designed space.
Returning to a beloved café can feel like reconnecting with an old friend, while discovering a new one offers a fresh perspective on a city you thought you knew. As you plan your time in Nice, let these cafés serve as more than just pit stops. They are places to rest your feet, cool down in the summer heat, and absorb the effortless elegance that defines the French Riviera.
Whether you are drawn by the promise of perfect lighting, inventive pastries, or simply a comfortable chair with a view, you will find that the best aesthetic cafés in Nice offer a deeper, more personal experience of the city itself.
