Paris runs on espresso, and the city’s café culture is as essential to its identity as the Seine or the Eiffel Tower. Whether you are looking for a quick hit of caffeine at a zinc-topped bar or a languid afternoon on a heated terrace, the choices can feel overwhelming. This guide narrows the field to the spaces that truly define the modern Parisian coffee scene.
The distinction between a traditional brasserie and a specialty café matters more than ever in Paris. While the classic corner establishments offer the romantic ambiance of wicker chairs and mirrored walls, the newer wave of roasters focuses on sourcing, extraction methods, and latte art. We have curated a list that balances both worlds, ensuring you find the right atmosphere for your mood.
Neighborhood matters when choosing your base for a caffeine crawl. The cobblestone lanes of the Marais, the intellectual history of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and the artistic energy of Canal Saint-Martin each offer a distinct flavor. This list spans the arrondissements so that no matter where you are staying, an excellent cup is never more than a short walk away.
Quality in Paris has skyrocketed over the last decade. Gone are the days when a bitter, over-extracted espresso was the only option. Today, you can find Nordic-style light roasts, precise filter brewing, and baristas who treat coffee with the same reverence as sommeliers treat wine.
Of course, coffee is only half the story. The best cafés in Paris also excel at food, whether it is a flaky, buttery croissant, a crusty baguette sandwich, or a slice of decadent cake. We have prioritized venues where the food menu matches the ambition of the drinks list.
Finally, we considered the design and comfort of each space. Paris is a city for people-watching, and the perfect café requires a certain light, a comfortable seat, and the right soundtrack. These are places where you can linger with a book, catch up on work, or simply watch the city stroll by without feeling rushed.

We arrived upon a Monday at around the second hour past noon, and were met with a short queue at the door, though we waited but ten minutes ere entry. The food was of excellent quality, and the service came with fair swiftness. Our waitress was most friendly and kind throughout our visit.

Great place for breakfast! You can’t make reservations but the line moves quickly. The space is small and quaint inside. The food is absolutely delicious and definitely worth the wait. The coffee is really good too. There is a QR code for the menu and then you can use it to pay your tab. Keep in mind that using this QR code to pay has a fee of 0.99€

I love, love, love this place! It's absolutely amazing. I first visited in April, and when I returned to Paris in June, coming back here was a non-negotiable part of my itinerary.
The portions are generous, the food is absolutely delicious, and the quality is consistently excellent. I can't recommend it enough!

Kozy truly lives up to its name. The café has a warm, inviting atmosphere, and even though it was busy, the service was quick.
We had the pancake stack with bacon and egg. The pancakes were wonderfully fluffy, with unique and delicious flavours. Be sure to ask for extra maple syrup, it’s the perfect finishing touch.
The beautiful blue and gold marble effect ceiling adds to the cozy yet elegant ambiance. A fantastic brunch spot with great food, lovely service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Great food, with quick friendly service. All the food and drink we ordered here were very good.
The Crazy BeneAddict was delicious with perfectly poached eggs and sauce, with a fresh and flakey crossiant that paired really well with everything. The Miss Tatin French toast was sweet and savoury but maybe a bit too heavy for an early morning breakfast dish.
The yogurt and macchiato were also done really well, and the ice tea was delicious.
Just a note that their location is undergoing renovation until mid Aug 2026 so they have temporarily relocated to another spot just across street and slightly further north. This location is comfortably sized with nice decor.

I had breakfast here every morning during my stay in Paris, and it quickly became one of the highlights of my trip. The bread was always fresh, the muffins were served warm, and everything was absolutely delicious.
It’s such a pretty place, with a lovely, welcoming atmosphere that made each morning feel special. The perfect way to start the day in Paris.
Travel Bites★★★★☆
Lovely breakfast spot in Paris with plenty of healthy, vegetarian and gluten-free options. We tried the avocado toast, greek yogurt with homemade granola, and the crazy beneaddict, everything was really tasty and fresh. The only downside is that the restaurant is very tiny. We were 5 people and had to sit packed next to each other, so we left right after finishing our breakfast.

I visit for breakfast and brunch, very good food
I liked the scrambled egg with mushroom and spinach.
pancake is fluffy and delicious.
Excellent Coffee.
It’s a small place usually full of people. However the waiting time is decent I tried it twice waiting time is less than 10 minutes especially for couples and small groups.

I had a wonderful time at this charming café! The drinks were absolutely delightful—the Hot Chocolate was rich and decadent, and the barista did a stunning job with the latte art. The Americano was hands down the best I've had in days; it was incredibly smooth, with a perfectly balanced flavor that was neither bitter on the palate nor in the aftertaste.
• Crazy BeneAddict 🥐
◦ Description: Thin slices of smoked salmon, 2 poached eggs, and Benedict sauce, garnished with dill.
◦ Review: This was delicious! The combination of flavors was spot on, and the portion was very satisfying for one person.
• The Brouillade 🍳
◦ Description: 3 farm-fresh scrambled eggs, pan-fried halloumi, sautéed spinach & roasted mushrooms, homemade pesto, served with a baguette.
◦ Review: This dish was a winner! The scrambled eggs were incredibly generous (I couldn't finish them all!), and the halloumi added a lovely salty touch. The complimentary baguette was perfect for soaking up the flavors. I would love a bit more bread next time to enjoy every last bite!
I will definitely be coming back for more!

Very nice coffee shop with sunshine. Baristas and the worker at the front desk are friendly and ready to help.
Many beans from Guatemala. You can try whatever you are interested in. Many choices.
Mind that they are not offering filter coffee after six, so go earlier.

This café is a real hidden gem. The coffee beans are no joke many of them come from top quality farms in Africa, and you can really taste the difference. The space is filled with plants (real ones, everywhere), and there’s plenty of seating, which makes it perfect for work meetings or remote working.
After visiting several museums, I was very selective about where to sit down and rest, and I’m glad I chose this place it didn’t disappoint at all. I’ll definitely be coming back. The owner is also very kind and welcoming, so take a moment to chat with him if you can.

I cannot say I enjoyed the coffee that much, but I admit I did have a cappuccino, which perhaps doesn’t do the coffee justice. The croissant was much below average. The sitting space is nice.

Went to Blackbird this morning for first time. Service was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Ordered 3 drinks; oat latte, flat white, and Americano. They were all very good. Also tried the plain croissants and they were fresh and buttery. The best croissants we’ve had so far on our trip. Also, there is no extra charge for the different types of milk. The restaurant is very clean and well presented.

Great little coffee shop in paris which we discovered on our first day in the city! The coffee was delicious, perfectly drawn espresso and great pumpkin spice latte. Pistachio croissants were equally as good and were a great way to start of our trip. The coffee shop itself was small but it was very welcoming and offered comfortable seating and a clean washroom. Will be back again in the future!

A must-stop in Paris! The pistachio croissant was fabulous and the pain au chocolat was the best I tasted during my trip to France.

Les Deux Magots was one of those classic Parisian café experiences that completely lived up to the hype. We stopped by for breakfast and ordered the croissant, pain au chocolat, hot chocolate, and coffee. Everything was delicious, but the standout was undoubtedly the hot chocolate—rich, velvety, and indulgent. It’s definitely on the pricey side, but absolutely worth trying and easily comparable to the famous hot chocolate at Angelina.
The pastries were fresh, buttery, and exactly what you’d hope for from a historic Paris café. The coffee paired perfectly with breakfast and rounded out the experience nicely.
Service was friendly and efficient, and one of the highlights was the excellent outdoor seating area. Sitting outside, people-watching, and soaking in the Parisian atmosphere made the meal even more memorable.
While reservations are available, I would recommend simply walking in. We found plenty of seating, making it an easy and enjoyable stop without the need to plan ahead.
5/5 – A quintessential Paris café experience with excellent pastries, outstanding hot chocolate, friendly service, and a fantastic outdoor atmosphere.
Levent Bulusan★★★☆☆
Les Deux Magots is undeniably iconic, but unfortunately our experience didn’t quite live up to the reputation.
We came in the morning expecting something similar to Café de Flore next door, but it felt noticeably more tourist-driven and less genuine. Despite visible availability in the main seating area, we were directed to a side section. What made it worse was that this area was quite cut off — we couldn’t really see the street or fully feel the atmosphere of the café. Aside from the branding on the tables and surroundings, it didn’t feel like we were truly part of the Les Deux Magots experience.
This gave the impression that guests might be subtly separated, with locals in the main area and tourists placed elsewhere. The service reflected a similar tone — not overtly rude, but distant, rushed, and lacking the warmth you would normally expect in Saint-Germain.
The food itself was perfectly fine — good coffee, fresh pastries, exactly what you would expect from a classic Parisian breakfast. But overall, the experience felt more transactional than enjoyable, and noticeably more expensive for what it offers.
It’s still worth visiting once because of its history, but if you’re given the option to sit in a side section, I would strongly recommend asking for a table in the main area — otherwise, you miss a big part of what makes this place special.
If I had to choose, I would return to Café de Flore without hesitation. The experience there felt far more authentic and enjoyable.
José-Antonio★★★★★
Les Deux Magots is one of the places I always return to in Paris. Not just for a coffee, but for lunch, a glass of wine, dessert, or simply an excuse to spend a couple of hours here. It is one of those places where you can still feel connected to the literary and intellectual history of Paris. Knowing that writers and thinkers like Hemingway, Simone de Beauvoir, Sartre, among others, spent time here makes every visit feel a little more meaningful. Over the years I’ve watched it become much more popular, and while I’m happy to see it thriving, I miss the days when there were no lines outside and no hostess managing the crowds. The service isn’t always as attentive as it could be, but the quality has remained remarkably consistent. The food is excellent, the coffee is perfect, and the hot chocolate alone is worth coming back for. Even with all the changes, this is still one of those places that reminds me why I love Paris.
Andrew Brown★★★★☆
All the history, all the charm and charisma of the front of house team cannot take away the fact the coffee was rather weak and bland.
Hot chocolate was outstanding.
Probably one of the best spots to sit and enjoy the surroundings and people watch. Do walk in side the building and decor is fabulous.
Nathaly Montanez★★★★★
Last night in Paris, glad I chose this memorable place to celebrate. YES wayyyyy better than Cafe de Flore better service and more quaint. I could easily dine everyday here, I was dining solo therefore didn't make a reservation but also didn't have to wait. My waiter was incredible, my steak was overcooked and he did not have a problem to make it right for me. Lots of wine and a delicious dessert later CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!
Downstairs there are souvenirs that you can buy such as crystal flutes, wine glasses, coasters and more.

A lovely little café with excellent specialty coffee. We stopped by around lunchtime on a Tuesday, and it was nice and quiet with plenty of seating available. The atmosphere is cozy, with pleasant background music.
The pastries were delicious, and we loved the great selection of specialty coffees from different countries, each with tasting notes. The staff also recommended the best brewing method for the coffees we chose, which was a nice touch.
The air conditioning was perfect too.it was very hot outside, but the café was cool and comfortable. We'd definitely come back!

A new specialty coffee shop added to my favorites! The vibe is amazing, and the coffee is absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced. We tried the cortado, and it was excellent. The food was just as good—the croissant was buttery and flaky, and the cheesecake was sooo yummy too. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, the café is air-conditioned (which is a big plus on hot days), and the staff are incredibly lovely and welcoming. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place! ⭐️☕🥐

AMAZING coffee place, my go to whenever I want something simple and chic. There are multiple coffees with varying flavors and intensities that you can pair with the different pastries they have to offer. The service here is also wonderful. Every worker I’ve interacted with has a great general knowledge of their workplace and their products, not to mention the fact they are kind and friendly.
Although they don’t serve the Egg Toast and Pancakes everyday, I believe it makes it a much more simple and efficient way to profit towards a specific and truly loyal group of cafe lovers. Come here if you want to experience a slow morning by yourself or with 1 or 2 friends.
Robert★★★★★
They had 12 different coffee beans that I could try. Their Colombian one was so amazing, fruity strawberry notes. Highly recommend.
The ambience was great. I sat and read my book there for 2ish hours.
The service was amazing, and all the baristas and servers were super knowledgeable. I talked to them for 10-30 minutes when I was done.
I spent quite a bit because I wanted to try out stuff, like 20€.
Tamara★★★☆☆
Disappointing and not worth it. It felt like a tourist trap (assuming your your tourists are coffee enthusiasts who are willing to pay a lot for a special and unusual coffee experience).
Their menu looks fantastic, so a bit overwhelmed, I asked for a recommendation that would specifically not be very bitter and paired well with oat milk. I was recommended their Ethiopian beans. Despite questioning paying 10€ for a latte, I went with it expecting something special. Sadly, what I received was intensely bitter and completely flavorless otherwise. One of the worst coffees I had in Paris, and by far the most expensive one.
When asked for my thoughts after the fact, I mentioned that I did not taste many of the flavor notes they mentioned in the menu and my waitress’ response was that it was probably because my drink had milk (as if I hadn’t asked for beans that paired well with milk in the first place…).
The best part was honestly the wafer cookies that came with my drink. And the nice, air-conditioned interior.
This is definitely a case of something looking much better than it really is. Go elsewhere.

We came here because of the great ratings and the huge number of positive reviews. We arrived around 11am and waited about 15 minutes for a table, but the line moved quite quickly so the wait wasn’t too bad.
We ordered two avocado toasts and iced lattes. The coffee was excellent and definitely a highlight of the meal. The avocado had a nice hint of lemon, and the dukkah and pomegranate seeds added great flavour and texture.
The only letdown was the sourdough. Although it was toasted, it was quite thin, still soft in the middle, and tasted a little stale. We also felt the dish would be better value if it came with two eggs as standard.
Overall, I can see why this café is so popular, and we still had a pleasant breakfast, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype for us. We’d probably choose somewhere else for breakfast next time.

We stumbled across Kozy while looking for a good breakfast spot in Paris, and it ended up being one of our favorite finds from the trip.
From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. The service was friendly and relaxed, but still really attentive — the kind of place where you can ease into your morning without feeling rushed. It had a cozy, laid-back vibe that made it easy to sit back and enjoy the start of the day.
The food was fantastic. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and you could tell they care about what they’re serving. But the real standout was the coffee. My wife kept talking about it the rest of the day — she said it was the best coffee she had the entire time we were in Paris, which is high praise considering how many cafés we tried.
If you’re in Paris and want a breakfast spot that feels welcoming, serves great food, and absolutely nails the coffee, Kozy is well worth the stop. We’d go back in a heartbeat.

You will be missing out if you don’t eat here. The 6 gentlemen work like clockwork, knowing what the other is thinking. Efficient, friendly, small establishment that’s big on taste, value, and team work. The New York sandwich is great sandwich that starts with a nice crunch of the French baguette. The crepes are exceptionally large and loaded, and packed with flavour and freshness. This is a bucket list restaurant for lunch that’s outstanding value. My kids loved the food. You guys are brilliant, thank you.

Happy Café was such a fun stop for us—definitely one we’ll remember!
We ordered two Nutella crepes, a Kinder Bueno crepe, a Nutella crepe with pistachio ice cream, and a marshmallow-topped donut, and everything was delicious. The crepes were warm, soft, and generously filled (we clearly couldn’t get enough of the Nutella 😄). The Kinder Bueno crepe was super indulgent and perfect for chocolate lovers, and the Nutella crepe with pistachio ice cream was a great combo—rich, creamy, and a little different. The donut topped with marshmallows was also a fun, sweet treat.
But by far, the highlight was the owner. He was absolutely hilarious and created such a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. He made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived, which really made the whole experience stand out.
Great desserts, amazing vibes, and an owner who truly makes the place special—we’d definitely come back!

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Whether you’re craving a classic chocolate shake or something more indulgent, you won’t be disappointed.
Highly recommended for anyone with a sweet tooth. Bon appétit!

Happy Café definitely lives up to its name. The people here are genuinely kind, friendly, and seem to enjoy what they do. The menu has plenty of great options, and everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. You can really see why it’s called Happy Café. It’s not just the food, it’s the people. We’d happily come back the next time we’re in Paris.
One small thing that really stood out: one of our orders was taking a little longer than expected, and since it was such a hot day, the staff brought us complimentary lemon drinks while we waited to make sure we stayed hydrated. It’s little gestures like that which turn a good meal into a memorable experience.

Substance Café is a true sanctuary for coffee purists in Paris. The shop itself is beautifully minimalist, and the staff is incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. I picked up a selection of beans—including several Panama Geishas, a Kenya, and an Ethiopia—to try back home, and the experience has been nothing short of extraordinary. Testing these on my Lelit Bianca V3 and V60, they have proven to be among the absolute best coffees I’ve ever tasted.
What really sets Substance apart is the technical depth and support they offer. Because these are very light roasts, they require a specific approach compared to typical medium roasts. The guy at the shop was extremely helpful and even followed up on Instagram with fast, insightful advice on how to dial them in. Their website is also a fantastic resource, detailing the specific brewing techniques needed to get the most out of their unique lots.
While the price point is higher than your average roaster, it fully reflects the elite quality of the beans. This is high-end specialty coffee that demands to be treated with respect and precision. If you’re serious about terroir and extraction, this is a must-visit. I’m already counting down the days until I can return to Paris to drink more and stock up again.

I appreciate we have a place like this in this world, I came in the first batch and turned out it’s the best decision.
we have sometime to talk to Joachim and he got to tell us how he feel about coffee in general, coffee as a ceremony, the terroir and the story, geography behind it. I never categorize myself as a coffee fundamentalist, but after coming to this place you have to. It’s not like coffee flights or bar, the tasting is highly personalized to each own, I told Joachim I love pandan, and he really find bean to make a pour over with the pandan aftertaste, it’s amazing, never thought I can develop a taste palette like this, also I really like the distilled milk latte, the foam, the beans, the milk taste, everything is one of a kind

Joachim is unreal! This is the one coffee omakase to rule them all. The concept is fairly specific wherein it’s a lot of Panamanian Geishas. But honestly you can’t find a selection this good anywhere in the world. Ordered a La Esmeralda Gesha and it was the best I’ve ever had. He gets to know your palette and will cater to you what you enjoy. Book a reservation and it will change your coffee world forever

I’ve been buying from Substance for over two years. Alex and Jo are truly exceptional people in the coffee world. They’re incredibly warm, caring and loving. Visiting them a few months ago was a dream come true. The atmosphere is fantastic and the coffee is amazing. Espresso, pour overs and freeze-distilled milk-based coffees I had were perfect. A huge thank you to Jo for having me. Your passion is limitless!
Kyle Scherrer★★★★★
Unbelievable, unforgettable experience - if you’re able to get a reservation (I booked 7 days in advance, when reservations became available), you have to go here. The coffee was incredible, but more importantly Joachim (the owner and only barista) is extremely conversational, friendly, and inviting. I learned so much about coffee and the coffee-making process, and the milk beverage at the end was a great “dessert” drink. Could not recommend any more, I can’t wait to return!

Not our type of shop. It looks fancy and cool at first, but the core product — the coffee — is not top‑notch. If you offer one main product, it should be excellent. On top of that, it’s extremely expensive (7 € for a flat white).
Across the street, PEAK or Oh My Cappuccino deliver far better coffee quality. Maybe we just caught a bad day — try for yourself.

Top coffee and unsweetened (!) matcha served by super nice people in a great, laid-back atmosphere where Hip-Hop is spun on a real vinyl turntable. Thanks a bunch!

My favourite cortado in Paris!🩷 amazing vibe, our barista was so kind & joyful, and the music was great. Will come back often ✨

Sample Cafe is hands down the coolest coffee shop in Paris. The coffee is incredible and the vibes are excellent. Pierre is always playing great music on vinyl and creating an epic atmosphere for community. I’ll definitely be back.

Le Peloton Café was one of my favorite coffee stops in Paris and a place I’m really glad I discovered.
I stopped in for a freshly baked pain au chocolat and an oat milk latte, and both were excellent. The pastry was buttery, flaky, and perfectly fresh, while the latte was smooth, well-crafted, and exactly what I needed to start the day.
What makes this place special is the atmosphere. The space is vibrant and welcoming, with a great mix of people working remotely, catching up with friends, or simply enjoying a good coffee. It has the kind of energy that makes you want to linger a little longer.
The service was fantastic—friendly, efficient, and genuinely warm.
Whether you’re looking for quality coffee, a quick breakfast, or just a comfortable place to spend an hour, Le Peloton Café is absolutely worth a visit.

We were here on a Sunday morning. The place was filled with cyclists who started their day early riding through or around the city. The food and coffee were great and we got fuel to start our day. We came back for breakfast a few days later because we like the vibes.

Our family of 5 was in Paris for 4 days and we enjoyed renting bikes from this company for our stay and we enjoyed an incredible bike tour with Rachel that included history and some quick stops for food. She is amazing!! The food and drinks at this cafe are DELICIOUS! The staff is what sets this place apart. Every single person we met at this place was always smiling, always cheerful and very helpful. It makes a huge difference in your day to be treated with such kindness.
Very much recommend!!

Great coffee and great bike rental. Cost coffee bar serving quality coffee as well as renting decent bikes. This place has earned a bookmark in my maps. I'll be back next time I'm in Paris. Even if I don't have time for a ride. 😊

Wonderful, friendly cafe. We rented two bikes to tour Paris and then finished with a latte and bake sweets. Lovely!

Amazing coffee, our adventure to find a speciality coffee store in Paris was successful! Amazing filter and espresso selection, roasted and brewed to perfection.
Charlotte Hughes★★★★★
As a trained barista myself (although I have moved careers now) I have to say the coffee was one of the best I have ever had.
The beans, the roast, the grind, the pour - it was all so delicious. Such a deeply satisfying cup of coffee that I wanted another one immediately after!
The staff were so friendly, very polite about my terrible French! They had such incredible knowledge about their product and helped me when choosing some beans to take home.
The cinnamon roll and the hazelnut cookie were a delight.
If you’re the sort of person who gets their coffee from big name brands then you probably wouldn’t enjoy or appreciate this place. If you’re somewhat of a coffee connoisseur, then you have to experience it. It is a little pricey but my goodness, it’s worth it.
Next time I’m in Paris, this is the 1st place I’m going.

This café had good quality; we had an Americano and a Matcha Latte and were satisfied.
But the prices are a bit high.
The seating area is also very European-style, meaning it’s a bit cramped 😃😃
Addy Em★★★★☆
I had a great v60/Origami pourover cup here.
It was a much better pour than at motors cafe that was double the price for a similar bean/roast. It felts like the brew was more carefully done, with focus and patience. It was also not a rushed experience.

We came early in the morning on a public holiday and had no trouble finding a table. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the café was clean and cozy.
We ordered an oat milk Flat White and the coffee was perfectly made.
We also shared the banana bread. It was good and the touch of salted butter added a nice flavor. However, if you’re expecting a classic banana bread, this one is a little different. I still enjoyed it, but it’s more of a unique take on the traditional recipe.
The portion isn’t very large, but overall, it’s definitely worth a visit. We’d happily come back!

High quality house blend coffee. The ratio between water and milk was just perfect and all of us enjoyed it. They also serve cookies and other brunch dishes but we didn't try them at that time.
We got three latte to drink inside and the atmosphere was great. Moderately noisy but it felt friendly. The staff was efficient and spoke English well which made it easier for us to get seated. Each latte cost €5.00 and was served relatively quickly.
Highly recommend!

We came here for breakfast and had a very pleasant experience. There was a good variety of options, the products tasted fresh, and the avocado was especially delicious. Overall, the breakfast was very tasty and satisfying.
The coffee was also really good, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We left happy and would definitely come back again.

Know this place for a couple of years. Chill vibes, friendly staff, decent milk coffees with solid texture and on top of all, loving the avocado toast. Was glad to came back!

The cozy cafe with some of the most delicious food. We had the avocado toast and eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfectly poached and the hollandaise sauce was perfect. We also had the French toast which was the best we’ve had in a very long time. Just melts in your mouth. Highly recommend

A tiny, well loved coffee spot tucked into the Marais, and one that had extra pull for me given the Danish flag hanging inside and the fact that they sell La Cabra beans, easily one of my favourite roasters back home.
It felt like a little piece of Copenhagen dropped into Paris, in the best way. Properly good coffee, small and characterful space, exactly the sort of find you hope to stumble across.
Wally Sears★★★★★
coolest micro coffee shop in Paris. Fabulous coffee and amasing muffins& cookies. Sit out side and sip your coffee or find one of maybe 3-4 seats inside. Love this tiny jewel.
Lisa Park★★★★☆
The café is small and has a really charming atmosphere, but the prices are more on the touristy side—about €3.5 for an allongé and €4 for a noisette. I personally don’t enjoy acidic coffee, and unfortunately, the coffee here was too sour for my taste. The place seems quite touristy now, and perhaps because of that, the staff felt a bit distant and not very friendly. Still, if you want to experience the vibe of an old cobbler’s shop, it might be worth paying the price for a cup. But if you’re looking for truly good coffee, I’d recommend trying somewhere else.
Diego Velandia★★★☆☆
I asked for a cold brew that was not in the menu. So I appreciated that she did it for me. However, for a place that I discovered by a post recommendation on IG I expected a better service. Compared to other cafes I have visited in Paris this
was average.

Came for the ratings. Ordered flat white to go since the place is super tiny to even stand. Terrible coffee taste and way too much milk for a flat white. Not really sure why the hype and such high ratings... total disappointment

The pizza was great, so was the onion soup. The steak and salmon were good with sauce on the side. The service was good, and we liked the options. It had good vibes. A wow experience to have dinner here.
My niece choosed the restaurant because of the inviting decoration. After looking to the menu we both found food we like. My salmon salad with avocado was extraordinary, the service warm and wonderful. For us it was a perfect ending of a beautiful day in Paris.

Wonderful experience at Café Saint Honoré near the Louvre! 🇫🇷✨
I had an excellent fresh salad 🥗 with warm fried burrata, avocado 🥑, strawberries 🍓, and pine nuts. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and beautifully prepared. The dessert and tea were also wonderful and made the visit especially relaxing. 🍰🍵
The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Even though the location is extremely touristic, right in the epicenter of Paris near the Louvre, the cafe still keeps a warm local atmosphere and authentic cuisine. A very pleasant place to rest, enjoy good food, and experience a kinder side of central Paris. Highly recommended! 😊

Momo , Meryem , and Chef Luciano made our first day in Paris and our first meal here the most delicious and over the top meal and and amazing experience we have ever had! We dined with our 91 year old Yiayia and our 3 kids so every meal is salt free and complicated with many opinions. The Chef came out himself and suggested a salt free meal he created off the menu for our Yiayia. She said she thought she died and went to heaven it was so good! The nicest people we have ever met!! Could not have been more kind and so generous. We were treated with Croquettes and Macaroons on the house and we smiled so much that our cheeks hurt! We can’t wait to come back tomorrow!! 100 out of 10 would recommend!! Thank you all so much!!!❤️

🌸 Café Saint-Honoré – A magical Paris find just off the Louvre ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We stumbled across this place just off the Louvre Museum after a long morning exploring and a bus tour, with tired legs and two hungry kids… and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect.
✨ First Impressions
From the outside, it almost looks like a bit of a tourist trap with all the flowers, pastel colours, and teddy bears… but don’t let that fool you. Step inside and it transforms into a beautiful, relaxing, and genuinely welcoming space.
🌺 Atmosphere & Decor
Stunning floral ceiling and soft lighting
Subtle background music that helps you unwind
A lovely buzz from other families and diners
Felt like a proper Parisian moment, not rushed at all
There was even a birthday celebration happening next to us, complete with singing, a sparkler, and cake – which looked like it was provided by the restaurant. A really nice touch.
🍽️ Food & Drinks
Everything we ordered was spot on:
🧀 Goat’s cheese salad – fresh and full of flavour
🍗 Chicken dish – really well cooked and satisfying
🥩 Steak & chips – devoured and thoroughly enjoyed
🍺 IPA beer – incredibly refreshing after a warm day walking around Paris
They even let me sample a few beers before choosing, which was a great touch. They also brew their own “Teddy Beer” – not quite to my taste, but a fun option to try.
👨👩👧👦 Family Friendly
This is where it really stood out:
Kids’ meals were around €12 and included main, drink, and dessert
Dessert options included ice cream or a Nutella crepe (huge hit!)
Staff were warm, patient, and great with children
🎁 Little Extras That Made It Special
As we were leaving, they surprised us with four free macarons – a small gesture, but genuinely appreciated (and easily worth close to €10 in Paris!).
🚻 Facilities
Even the toilets were beautifully decorated, especially the ladies’. The men’s setup was a bit unclear (no obvious urinal), but not a deal-breaker in the slightest.
⭐ Final Verdict
A place that looks Instagrammable but delivers far more than that – great food, fair prices, genuinely friendly service, and a relaxed, memorable atmosphere.
If you’re near the Louvre and need a break, this is a fantastic spot for families or couples alike.
Highly recommended – an easy 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Tips for Choosing the Right Café in Paris
Navigating the Parisian coffee landscape is easy once you understand the local customs and know what to look for. The difference between a tourist trap and a local gem often comes down to a few small details. Use these practical tips to ensure every coffee break is a memorable one.
1. Check the Roasting Date
If you are visiting a specialty coffee shop, look for bags with a recent roasting date. The best cafés in Paris pride themselves on serving beans that are between one and four weeks old. If a café cannot tell you when the beans were roasted, it is likely they are prioritizing volume over flavor.
2. Understand the “Café” Order
In a traditional Parisian brasserie, ordering a “café” will get you a small, intense espresso. If you want an American-style black coffee, order a “café allongé” or “café américain.” If you want milk, ask for a “café crème.” Knowing these terms will save you from disappointment and help you blend in with the locals.
3. Look for the “Torréfacteur” Label
If you prefer classic French coffee, seek out establishments labeled “torréfacteur.” This means they roast their own beans on-site or nearby. These places often offer a more traditional, darker roast profile that pairs perfectly with a pastry, and they usually have a distinct, rich aroma that fills the room.
4. Terrace Seating Costs More
In Paris, the price of your coffee often depends on where you sit. Standing at the bar (au comptoir) is the cheapest, sitting inside is mid-range, and sitting on the terrace is the most expensive. If you are on a budget but want the view, order at the bar first, then ask if you can step outside for a photo.
5. Timing is Everything
Parisians run on a specific schedule. Cafés are busiest between 8 AM and 10 AM for breakfast and from 3 PM to 5 PM for the afternoon pause. If you want a quiet table to work or read, aim for the late morning lull between 10:30 AM and noon, or after 5 PM when the coffee crowd has shifted to apéritifs.
6. Bring Cash for the Bar
While most modern specialty cafés accept credit cards for any amount, many traditional brasseries have a minimum spend for card transactions. If you are just grabbing a quick espresso at the counter, having a few coins in your pocket is the fastest and most appreciated way to pay.
The beauty of the Parisian café lies in its variety. One morning you might find yourself in a sleek, minimalist space sipping a single-origin pour-over, and the next you could be seated on a historic terrace watching the city wake up with a bowl of café crème. This contrast is what makes the city’s coffee culture so endlessly fascinating.
Whether you are a dedicated coffee enthusiast hunting for the perfect extraction or simply a traveler looking for a warm place to rest your feet, Paris delivers. Take your time, try a few different spots on this list, and let the rhythm of the city guide you from one cup to the next.
