12 Best Asian Restaurants in Arles

While Arles is world-renowned for its Roman ruins, sun-drenched light that inspired Van Gogh, and the vibrant energy of the Rencontres photography festival, its culinary landscape often remains a hidden gem waiting to be explored by the hungry traveler. Beyond the traditional Provençal bistros serving daube and tapenade, a dynamic Asian food scene has quietly taken root in this ancient city. It offers a delicious counterpoint to the rich, olive-oil-heavy local fare.

For visitors spending weeks immersed in French culture, the palate occasionally craves the aromatic heat of ginger, the umami depth of soy sauce, or the comforting slurp of noodles. Fortunately, Arles has evolved to meet this demand, offering a surprisingly diverse array of options ranging from quick sushi counters to sophisticated Thai and Vietnamese dining rooms. These establishments bring the flavors of the East to the banks of the Rhône.

Navigating the dining scene in a tourist-heavy town can be tricky, as quality can vary significantly from one street to the next. Whether you are looking for a quick lunch between museum visits or a leisurely dinner after a day of exploring the Camargue, knowing where the locals actually go is essential. This guide aims to cut through the noise and direct you to the most authentic and satisfying experiences.

We have evaluated these restaurants based not only on the freshness of their ingredients but also on the authenticity of their recipes and the warmth of their service. From the precise art of Japanese sushi to the fiery broths of Southeast Asia, there is a table waiting for every type of craving. It is time to diversify your culinary itinerary in this historic Provençal town.

Below, we have curated a list of the best establishments where you can enjoy everything from delicate dumplings to rich curries. These are the places that consistently deliver high-quality food, proving that Arles is more than just a one-note culinary destination.

This was a highlight meal of our trip. Everything was very good, but don't miss out on the exceptional asian fried chicken. We also really appreciated the perfect service and people watching on their busy pedestrian street.

The food was nice and the overall concept was on point. The highlight of our evening was the service. They made everyone feel at ease with their relaxed and friendly attitude.

Been here a few times… really excellent each time. Fast, friendly service even when busy. The crying tiger dish, brought sizzling to the table, was really tasty. Will be back!
Adrien Blaser★★★★☆
Amazing dishes. The rice is the best I ever had. And this does not stop here. Fried cooking but not bathed in oil. One problem, the amount of food per dish is ridiculously low. U have to take some extra, meaning it will cost u. And the service, professional connoisseur but gentle and kind. Grand Bravo.

Excellent food and even better service. A nice selection of food and drinks. A small place, but comfortable. I look forward to dining there again.

I had a wonderful dining experience at Apsara Vietnam Food! The dishes were absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors and beautifully presented. Every bite felt fresh and perfectly seasoned. The soup was especially tasty, rich in flavor and very comforting, definitely a must-try! The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Highly recommended for anyone who loves genuine Vietnamese cuisine!

The food was authentic and satisfying, with a flavorful broth, though it was slightly too oily for my taste. Typically, pho is served with beansprouts, herbs, and lime to add brightness, but these weren’t provided, leaving the dish in need of some acidity to balance the savory broth. The service was prompt and the waiter was friendly, but the restaurant felt quite stuffy; better ventilation would enhance the experience.

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere and good service. We ordered a couple of starters - the pork spring rolls and steamed prawn dumplings - both were very nice. We then ordered the Pad Thai with Prawns and the Hot Plate Beef with Onions. The flavours were beautiful. We also had a nice bottle of wine with our meal.

We were craving for some asian food and was glad to find this nice thai place in Arles. Our server (or maybe the owner?) was very friendly and nice. The appetizer was great. But the main dishes, including the pad thai, did not meet the expectation. I’d recommend this place if you’re in Arles and want to get some thai food.

I wish I live in Arles so I can close to this restaurant. Best fried shrimp I ever had and the best soup from pho I had ever tested. And the price it's very reasonable. Make a reservation before you go.

We’re on holiday and thought we try this restaurant for a change - I’m so glad we did. The food was both delicious and beautiful, the service efficient and friendly. Background music was very relaxing (usually my pet hate!) Our first taste of Lao food, we loved it. Extremely good value as well.

While passing through Arles, we heard about this new Asian restaurant that recently opened. With a great location, the service was perfect and the dishes were very tasty. I had the salmon maki as a starter and the fried chicken with melted cheese as the main dish, and both were excellent. A really great place. We’ll definitely be back!

7 starts if I could choose this. The food was great, drinks were great and service amazing! Prices are very reasonable for both food and drinks. Cannot recommend highly enough for dinner in Arles.

My partner and I had the best Thai food we’ve ever had in France here. Having just moved from Australia, the craving was real and hard to fully satisfy, but it was incredible. We sat next to the owner and her friend who were super friendly! (Any tips on where I can get a pad kee mao as good as yours in Toulouse?)

Searching for Thai food in other countries, then Thailand itself, is always tricky. It's for the love of Thai food that we can never resist the search for it. In Arles, where we visited the annual Photography Festival, we found this little restaurant, ran by a wonderful Thai Family. The best choice we could ever make, because the food is and was what you expect from a Thai Restaurant. Very friendly people, fast service, lovely street, tables outside, very tasty and outstanding menu. My Red Curry Soup was just awesome. One of the best. Arles is just a beautiful town, very worth visiting. OK, you are with lots of tourists, but what the heck. This city and restaurant is what you are looking for.

Best restaurant in FRANCE!!!!!! PERFECT SERVICE PERFECT FOOD PERFECT PLACE EVERY THING PERFECT !!!!! I recommend this place for the service and the food. The service talk English for who can’t talk French, the service really fast and educated respect others restaurants. It’s perfect for who comes with kids, because for us “me and my family” our little kid don’t eat noodles so we needed to ask them to make a plate with just pork for him “It’s a plate out of the menu” I need to be . And they make it really fast with no problems. The time of food medium but worth it 👌🏻. I have to be honest I tried it and it seemed to come from heaven. “From another world” TOO GOOD!!!!!

While on holiday in the Alpilles, we tried three different pad thai dishes. Each one was equally delicious! The owner is incredibly kind! If we return to the area, we will definitely try other dishes. Highly recommended!

It's rare these days to find a good meal in a restaurant, at a low price, and to top it all off, with friendly staff. I placed a small order by phone; the gentleman on the phone, I think, was also the one at the till. He was incredibly pleasant and polite, truly top-notch, and of course, the food was excellent. The samosas and the filling were very good. I'll be back very soon, thank you so much!

We took the lunch menu (22€ for 3 meal set). The gyozas were very good, with homemade dough and everything. There were many options like chicken curry, veggies and pork. The ramen (Sapporo style in the picture) were tasty, but the toppings were lukewarm. They had many desserts, we took the ice cream mochi, with a succulent sorbet inside. The staff were nice, though a bit pushy to get our orders at first. Overall, great place, given the limited resources for Asian cuisine they have in France.
Berto Salgado★★★★★
The food was delicious and flavorful. Got the Hakata Ramen and the broth was so tasty. They had a special going on for lunch when we went and it was €22 to get four pieces of gyoza, mochi, and your choice of ramen.

Post edit after owner reaction: YES, I am a real customer and YES I visited your restaurant in July. I came with 2 friends for lunch in an empty restaurant. We had to wait for the waitress to finish whatever she was doing to be waited. And she was making a face to show us we were far to be her priority. Then, we constantly had to hail her to get her attention to get our order. The ramen was bland, tasteless and I had stomach pain in the afternoon so if you are sick of "fake" reviews, well I was sick by food poisoning so instead of constantly pointing your fingers towards unhappy customers maybe you should introspect and realise hospitality business might not be for you. There are definitely better options for Japanese food in Arles where food is authentic and where you feel welcomed. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Not a big fan of their ramen. One of the worst i ever had to be honest... and the service was cold and unpersonal. On top of that, I was sick after eating there...

Stamina ramen had great taste (better than many ramen we had while living in Japan !). Both pork and vegetable soups were rich of umami taste. It’s such a perfect dish for winter !

Highly recommended!!!! We live in the area and are often desperate for something a bit different to eat. The ramen here is better than many places I’ve been to in NYC, London and even Tokyo! I usually get the Hakata Ramen. Definitely go to Izakayan, you won’t be disappointed

Ramen We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of our apartment host and from a local lady we met in Arles. This is a good option for ramen. It's not totally authentic - but it's still very good. We weren't keen on the yakisoba - the sauce tasted quite strange to my fussy Asian palate.

After being treated so bad by the staff at IZAKAYAN by WA-FOU……we wandered into this place and it was perfect!! This has to be some of the best ramen and handmade pot stickers we have ever had. Great little corner with amazing customer service! Service was quick, atmosphere was relaxed and fun, and we watched a ton of Togo delivers go out so we knew it was going to be good from the start!

I really enjoyed Soyu Ramen with the firm noodles which was very authentic Japanese style ramen. Gyoza was such a well cooked and very enjoyable.

Leaving feeling very nourished! The vegan ramen was very delicious; excellent broth, noodles, and toppings. Added an egg for protein and started the meal with their stewed aubergine special of the day. So happy we found this spot! A vegetarian's dream in Arles. Highly recommendable. Update: we went back a second time the next day for the soy mean Katsudon and the Vegan Yakisoba. Delicious as well! If you can't take another avocado toast, this is the place to eat.

Good food but nothing exceptional in the flavors. I would describe the food as good for take out if you’re hungry, but not for any aspect of finer dining. I know you don’t go to a Vietnam restaurant for the wine, but if it is on the menu it should be more thoughtfully selected.

I can recommend 100%! Roasted duck was fantastic and fried chicken with glass noddles was very tasty as well. It was a pleasure having a late dinner in this place and I'd love to try some other dishes as well somewhere in the future 😊

Small cosy restaurant and fairly authentic Viet food a considering it’s in a very small town. The Summer rolls were ok but the Pho was actually very good (broth was so fragrant and beef brisket was so tender). The staff speaks good English so no problems with ordering. And the price is very affordable. Recommend!

The prawn dumpling and the spring roll are nice. The main course is so so.. The fried noodle is hard with too little gravy. Should have more gravy like other Cantonese fried noodle to dissolve the hardness of noodle. Bit disappointed with the services because obviously their enthusiasm is for the French speaker and not Asian like me.. we reached first but the waiter served the table who reached after me first! He changed his service a bit after he realized I was staring at him with my unsatisfying face.

Very tasty Asian food. There are sushi, Thai dishes and Vietnamese. While we lived in this region, we came almost every evening. The owner does not speak English, but we somehow understood each other. Thank you for the quality food and friendly atmosphere!
Colin Lowden Blaber★★★☆☆
The restaurant had a good turnout from the locals. I ordered the ginger chicken, but I found the meat to be a bit tougher than I expected, and the portion sizes were on the smaller side. However, my wife chose the curry shrimp, which she enjoyed and felt was a better option.
Nicolas Lari★★★★★
I absolutely loved this little Vietnamese restaurant in Saint-Martin-de-Crau! You immediately feel the warm, family atmosphere: the mother in the kitchen, the father and children serving, everyone pitches in with a smile and rare kindness. You feel right at home, which is precious. The ingredients are impeccably fresh: the aromatic herbs (mint, cilantro, Thai basil) arrive in generous bunches, the spring rolls are perfectly crispy and made to order, the bò bún is generous and fragrant, the phở and bò kho are rich in flavor without being heavy… Everything is prepared with care, and you can taste the quality of the ingredients from the very first bite. The only slight drawback (and this is really nitpicking): the decor is very simple, almost austere. But honestly, when the food is this good and the welcome is so genuine, you quickly forget about the white walls!
Helene CORFA★★★★★
This lunchtime, we went to this Asian restaurant for the first time. It offers a wide variety of dishes, and the hardest part is choosing! We opted for shrimp spring rolls, satay-crusted shrimp, beef stir-fried noodles, and shrimp stir-fried noodles. It was very good, filling, and inexpensive. The staff is welcoming and very friendly. We'll definitely be back; there are so many dishes to try!
Soa Ichbatz★★★☆☆
The man who took my order seemed quite pleasant. I ordered one portion of spring rolls, and to my surprise, when I arrived at the hotel, I found he'd given me an extra one, which I paid for, of course. I ordered fried rice, which was yellow. I don't know if he added turmeric, but it was surprising, and a bit too oily for my taste. I ordered pork cooked on a griddle; I think it had curry in it, and I didn't like it at all. As for the ginger chicken, it wasn't great: the meat was bland. Really nothing special!

Tips for Choosing an Asian Restaurant in Arles

While Arles offers a variety of options, a little local knowledge can go a long way in ensuring you have the best possible meal. The dining culture here blends French service standards with Asian culinary traditions, which creates a unique atmosphere. Here are a few practical tips to help you navigate the scene like a seasoned local.

Book Ahead During Festivals: Arles swells with visitors during events like the Rencontres d’Arles (July-September) and the Feria (April and September). Even casual Asian eateries fill up quickly during these periods. It is highly advisable to call ahead or book a table online to avoid a long wait or disappointment.

Look for the Lunch Formulas: Many Asian restaurants in Arles cater to the local workforce and tourists alike by offering "formules" or set menus at lunchtime. These often include a starter, main course, and sometimes a drink or coffee for a very reasonable price. It is the most economical way to sample high-quality dishes without breaking the bank.

Check for Fresh Fish Days: If you are visiting a Japanese restaurant, ask which days they receive their fresh fish deliveries. Since Arles is not a coastal town, supply chains matter. The best sushi spots will be transparent about their sourcing, and ordering on delivery days ensures the highest quality and texture in your sashimi.

Don’t Skip the French-Asian Fusion: While authenticity is important, some of the most interesting culinary moments in Arles happen when chefs blend Provençal ingredients with Asian techniques. Do not be afraid to try a dish that features local Camargue rice or Mediterranean fish prepared with a miso glaze or Thai basil; it often represents the best of both worlds.

Be Mindful of Service Hours: Unlike Paris, where kitchens often run late, Arles maintains a more traditional rhythm. Many restaurants close between lunch and dinner service (roughly 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM). Ensure you check the opening hours carefully so you are not left searching for food during the afternoon lull.

Exploring the Asian culinary offerings in Arles provides a welcome break from the heavier stews and meats often associated with traditional Provençal cooking. It showcases a different side of the city’s gastronomy—one that is fresh, vibrant, and increasingly sophisticated. Whether you are a resident or a traveler passing through, these restaurants offer a comforting taste of home or an exciting new adventure.

As you wander the cobblestone streets and marvel at the ancient architecture, remember that Arles is a living, breathing city that continues to evolve. The fusion of its historic roots with global flavors is what makes dining here so exciting today. Bon appétit, or as they might say in one of these local gems, itadakimasu.
