12 Best Italian Restaurants in Lille

Lille’s dining scene is a vibrant reflection of its unique position at the crossroads of France and Flanders. While the city is famous for its bustling brasseries, carbonnade flamande, and bustling estaminets, its Italian culinary landscape is just as compelling. Over the past decade, a wave of passionate chefs and restaurateurs has elevated Italian food in Lille from simple pizza parlors to sophisticated destinations for regional cuisine.

For locals and visitors alike, the quest for the perfect plate of pasta or a flawlessly charred Neapolitan pizza is a serious endeavor. The city now boasts an impressive array of options, ranging from cozy, family-run trattorias that have been serving the neighborhood for decades to sleek, modern spaces experimenting with contemporary Italian flavors.

Whether you are looking for a romantic dinner spot in Vieux-Lille, a quick lunch near the Grand Place, or a lively place to share antipasti with friends, the choices can be overwhelming. To help you navigate this rich culinary scene, we have analyzed menus, assessed ingredient sourcing, and considered the overall dining atmosphere to bring you the most reliable guide to the best Italian food in the city.

Authenticity is the key metric in this guide. The best establishments distinguish themselves by importing DOP-certified ingredients directly from specific regions of Italy, whether it’s San Marzano tomatoes from Campania or aged Parmigiano-Reggiano from Emilia-Romagna. These are the places that treat simplicity with respect, allowing high-quality olive oil and fresh basil to do the heavy lifting rather than masking flavors with heavy creams or excessive cheese.

We have also prioritized variety, ensuring that whether you prefer the rustic cuisine of Tuscany, the seafood-rich dishes of the Amalfi Coast, or the truffle-laden specialties of Piedmont, you will find a table that suits your palate. The following selections represent the pinnacle of Italian dining in Lille, based on consistency, service, and the undeniable quality of the food.

From hidden gems tucked away on cobblestone side streets to bustling hotspots that require reservations weeks in advance, this curated list covers the full spectrum of what Lille has to offer. Get ready to embark on a culinary journey that transports your senses directly to the boot of Europe without ever leaving the Hauts-de-France.

Lovely decoration. They have 4 areas to eat. The best are: in the front where are the bottles or in the back next to the kitchen, where you can see how the prepare the things or in the middle to see the beautiful decoration. Avoid the first Floor (next to the Toilette) or the side salon in the back as the roof is too low and it is too warm. Be sure to ask a table in the nice areas in advance. Lovely Service. People is really kind. Everybody speaks Italian, even the French People. Lovely food and desserts are amazing: pizza’s are amazing. Napolitan style. They hab a huge oven. The pasta is fresh and tasty. Desserts: They have the Classics but with a lovely twist. Coktails are also good. Mandatory reserve in advance. It Is worth to try it.
The FX VERDICT★★☆☆☆
The food was tasteless. The pasta with clams was absolutely dreadful, easily one of the worst I’ve ever had. The “hot pizza” was bland and flavourless, the first time I’ve left more than half uneaten. The service was decent, Leo was very friendly and helpful.

I recently dined at La Bellezza with friends and had a fabulous time! La Bellezza is owned by the Big Mamma Group, which also own the well-known Pink Mamma restaurant in Paris. La Bellezza has a similar menu to Pink Mamma (they even have the famous truffle pasta), serving authentic Italian cuisine. Their menu changes every couple months and features handmade pastas, Neapolitan pizzas, desserts, and a great selection of drinks. Prices are fair and the portion sizes were good, leaving us full. The interior of the restaurant is stunning! It is vibrant and romantic featuring large floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with vintage bottles--very unique! The service was pleasant and attentive. All the food is made with ingredients imported from Italy, is extremely fresh, and full of robust flavors. I ordered a Bellini to start my meal and it was wonderful. You could tell they used fresh peach juice and the drink was very balanced overall, would recommend. For the table, we ordered the Stracciatella along with 2 orders of focaccia. The Stracciatella was very creamy, with a subtle taste. It paired nicely with the warm, savory focaccia. For my main, I ordered the Crudo Bufalina Pizza which included San Marzano DOP tomato sauce, mozzarella di bufala, prosciutto crudo, Pecorino and rocket. This pizza was easily the best pizza I had during my time in Lille and was extremely impressive. The sauce was quite flavorful with deep, robust tomato flavor and notes of fresh basil. The toppings were perfectly distributed and worked harmoniously together. I appreciated the saltiness of the prosciutto crudo, the slight sharpness of the arugula, and the creaminess of the mozzarella di bufala. This was an excellent pizza and I could not recommend it more! To finish the meal, we ordered some of their famous Tiramisu to share. They scoop it out of a large dish and serve it right in front of you. I thoroughly enjoyed this dessert as it was exactly how tiramisu should be. The consistency was creamy, the espresso flavor was strong, but not overpowering, and it was lite. Overall, I am very happy I was able to dine at La Bellezza and would recommend it to anyone. It is a wonderful place for a nice dining experience with great, authentic Italian cuisine. The food is fabulous, full of flavor, and very fresh. Everything we ordered we were more than pleased with. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous and like nothing else in Lille! Service was good and the whole experience was enjoyable. I highly recommend getting a reservation in advance if you do want to dine here, otherwise you might be faced with a line outside the door. I definitely think that La Bellezza was just as impressive as its sister restaurant Pink Mamma. This is a fabulous establishment and I had a wonderful time!

This place is so good! I had the best time here. Amazing, good quality food, a nice setting and the people who work here are so friendly and kind. We had some truffle cheese appetizer and WAUWIE, so good. Of course I continued with a tomato pasta and we ended with a good piece of tiramisu (it's SO good) It would be a shame if you did not eat here if you were in Lille.
Carolien Coenen★★★★★
Lovely Italian place situated in a gorgeous building. Loved the beautiful presentation from floor to ceiling of all the colorful liquor bottles at the bar near the entrance. The interior of the restaurant is definitely worth a visit in itself. The toilets are equally as stylish, but be warned, some of the locks don't work that well. The food was truly outstanding and the service was very friendly and efficient. We felt very welcome. The drink menu offers lots of different options to choose from. Happy with the fact that there are also lots of mocktails to choose from. I loved the risotto di mare and found the presentation with the big skewer of grilled octopus quite amusing. A great place for Italian food lovers.

We were looking for an Italian restaurant in walking distance and picked this because of the reviews. I'm glad we did. We arrived as they opened so got a walk-in table. I think we were lucky because it soon filled up - a sign of a good restaurant. Great service and fantastic food. My son loved the super Margherita, my daughter the spaghetti Bolognese, my wife the mushroom risotto, and I thought the four cheese pizza was the best four cheese pizza I've ever had. Dessert choices were also excellent, including a wonderful panacotta and affogato. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

We have waited a little to long to order, but the food was amazing! Very tasty. Thus, we didn’t find any lasagna, hopefully it will be back im the menu. Pizza with pistachio is amazing.

Nice Italian restaurant, just outside the city center of Lille. Antipasti were good. The pizza and pasta too. The waiter had to work really hard, as due to illness (happens more often these days) he managed the whole restaurant on his own. Well done despite says delays!
Emile Fares★★★★★
Amazing restaurant, good food and friendly staff. The music was just right, not so high so we can talk and at the same time we could hear it. The food was tasty, pasta carbonara was mouth watering. Make sure to reserve before going on order to get seated directly.

Amazing pasta and lovely ambiance! The lady at the restaurant was kind, she used google translate to ask if I was alright and liked the food, if I needed anything which was very thoughtful 🙂

Super nice! The hostess was very kind, and although she hardly spoke English, she was as helpful as she could and with a little English-French blend of languages, we managed perfectly well....! The food was pre-made and heated up, but for the price it was very nice! For 2 people who each a beer, cocktail, water, 2 pasta's, 2 espresso and 2 limoncello, we paid only 45€!
Łukasz Gołębiewski★★★★★

Great little bar / restaurant. Aperitivo excellent. Great staff.
Chris Conway★★★★★
Wonderful! Almost like being invited into the family's kitchen and indulged with their favourite food and drink. Staff genuinely enthusiastic and patient all through, even putting up with my (very) rusty schoolboy French. And the dishes make you remember why Italian food is the best in the world - no unusual ingredients or techniques, but the combinations just work brilliantly. And there's plenty of scope for vegetarians too (no small consideration in France). I was very envious of the two locals who came in for a takeaway - a perfect post-run treat. Overall, they make a complex thing look simple - but that's far harder than making something complex out of a simple thing. Would love to return - and I say that given that it involves around 5 hours of travel and a change of country!

Had a sudden pizza craving so I went alone — the place was super comfy and the staff were really kind! Fresh-out-the-oven pizza just hits different 🍕🔥 It was so hot at first I had to let it cool down a bit lol. I had the Capra e Miele pizza and since I love honey, I asked for more — they brought it right away with a smile 🍯 Thank you! Definitely coming back!

went here for a bite to eat, and I have to say it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had, especially the seafood pizza—it was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who made me feel very welcome. I highly recommend this place
Garret Girmus★★★★★
Stopped by here for a quick lunch yesterday and got a piece of pizza with salmon for four euros and a bolognese arancini for three euro fifty. So total was seven euro fifty. Service was fast and friendly, and the food did taste very good; I feel like the quality has gone up a bit since my last visit about six months ago. There are also tables directly in front of the restaurant on the street where you can eat, which I gladly did. Frankly for the price it is actually decent value; you can get a sandwich with almost no meat for about the same price, and this is at least hot food. I will definitely go back, as there are a bunch of different pizzas to try!
Karim Elmirou★★★☆☆
Friendly and fast service. Pizza slices were ok, nothing special. Very affordable at €3-4 a slice though and one slice is plenty for one person as a medium sized snack. It’s not really a place designed to eat in so there isn’t much of an atmosphere. Value for money is ok.

Incredible food for the price! I had a slice of pizza, chocolate mousse, and a soda under $10. Quick service as well.

Popped in here in passing and saw it was very busy even though it was fairly early evening and other places were quiet, also it had good reviews. Service lovely and food excellent. Our minor niggle was the table we were given was next to the kitchen area and had a very cold draught. We asked to be moved but there weren't any other available tables. If you're going here, book in advance! Would recommend though as it is only a minor comment

We had an amazing experience at this restaurant. We don’t speak French, but the staff was immediately accommodating for us. We sat outside at first, but they made sure to quickly move us inside once it started pouring. The food was great for the price. Our server, Pierro, was excellent and caring! I requested an orange for my dessert and he brought it to me immediately with a smile! I would give them 10/10 stars if I could!!

The people people were so patient and friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the food was amazing!!! Thank you to Chris and Pierro for making our night wonderful.

This place was buzzing during lunchtime! The atmosphere was lively, and everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were lucky to grab a table inside without waiting. The truffle pizza stole the show – absolutely loved it! They even accommodated my husband's food restrictions seamlessly. While my carbonara wasn't exactly what I expected – a bit more milky/creamy than egg-based – we still had a great time overall.

Ravioli were very overcooked and the taste not really resembling Italian ones. The tomato sauce was also not great and missing salt.

Nice service, good price but the ravioli that I had was dry inside and stuck together on the plate. The tiramisu was good. Still, as the main dish was limit, I would give only two stars.

If you’re a fan of authentic Italian cuisine, prepare to be disappointed. I ordered the Carbonara because the menu listed the traditional ingredients, but the execution was a disaster. The eggs were overcooked into dry clumps (grumeaux), and the dish was incredibly salty. I couldn't even finish it. For starters, the Stracciatella was good, but the "homemade bread" was cold and had an unpleasant, elastic texture. My brother had the Margherita Pizza, and while he finished it, the dough suffered from that same rubbery elasticity. The venue itself is aesthetically pleasing and well-decorated. However, considering it’s self-service (you even have to clear your own table), the value just isn't there. The staff is pleasant enough, but for these prices, there are far better, more authentic Italian options in Lille. I won’t be returning.
andreea★☆☆☆☆
This is not a trattoria (like in Italy). It's a self service. Food is absolutely horrible - the quattro formaggi pizza has very little cheese but has lots of double cream (I could not eat it). The children pasta was also not very nice. Lots of flies around the tables.
Şengül Ayhan★★★★★
After some time I had again the pleasure of dining at the IT Trattoria. This time I dined in Lille (France) and overall it was again a delightful experience. IT Trattoria offers a great ambience with a cosy and welcoming atmosphere that sets the Italian food stage for a delicious meal. The menu offers a variety of pasta & pizza variations, some salads, a wide range of wines and special soft drinks. We ordered ‚ ‚The queen of pizzas’ > Nostra Regina
Pooja GANESH -OFFICE DOMYOS MARCQ-★★★★☆
Loved the cosy little place and the self service experience. The pizza was great but I would have loved more buffalo mozzarella on it. The tiramisu was perfect. Just the perfect texture, unintrusive and mild flavour of coffee and it has the right amount of sweetness (mild light and lovely).Lovely light treat after a heavy meal. The veggie pasta (I don’t remember the name but it was a tomato sauce based pasta)could have been better more saucy and that’s why I give a 4 rating.

I asked for ICED cafe latte and the work responded “what’s that” then said ok then gave me this. Worst branch ever lol The one in Arras felt more like restaurant, this feels more like fast food with their ordering machine.

I dined here with my friends recently and was very impressed with the whole experience. One of my friends had already dined here twice before and raved about how good the food was. So with that being said, my expectations were high. We came under a reservation, which is almost required in order to eat here (I recommend getting one up to a week in advance). Papà Raffaele is an Italian restaurant that primarily serves pizza, along with some shareable, salads, and desserts. They offer a great selection of drinks as well. The service was good and the food came out all freshly prepared. All the pizzas are made with premium ingredients imported from Italy and are cooked made-to-order in a wood-fired pizza oven from Naples. This is probably the closest you will get to authentic Italian in Lille. To start, we ordered the Spritz Almalfitano Pitcher and burrata to share. The Spritz Almalfitano was essentially their version of a limoncello spritz. Although it didn't have a strong lemoncello taste. The drink was very strong and we were genuinely feeling "drunk" after splitting it amongst the three of us. I would recommend ordering it though as it was a lovely cocktail with great flavor, just very, very strong. The burrata was simple, but flavorful nonetheless and a perfect way to start the meal. For my pizza, I ordered the Dolce Diavola which consisted of tomato sauce, fior di latte mozzarella, spicy spianata, onions red, ricotta, pepper, mint, honey and olive oil. This was a wonderful combination of flavors that all worked together harmoniously! Very unique and like nothing I'd had before, it had some heat, smokiness, and sweetness. You could really taste the quality of ingredients as it was evident in the amount of flavor all the food had. This was easily one of the best pizzas I've ever had, hands down. To round out this fabulous meal, we ordered the Fat Sundae and Tiramisu to split. The Fat Sundae included milk ice cream, Nocciolata (chocolate-hazelnut spread), salted butter caramel, salted peanuts, crushed cantucci, and cocoa. I thoroughly enjoyed this as it wasn't too heavy and was the perfect way to end the meal. The tiramisu was also very good and I would recommend! One thing I will note is that if you opt to have your food come out separately (starters then your pizza), they will only put your pizza in the oven once they take your starter plates away. This can make your meal time longer. Overall, I was very pleased with my meal at Papà Raffaele. It was easily one of the best, most memorable meals I had in Lille. All the food was sensational, the quality unmatched, and the flavors authentic. The service was great and everyone there was extremely pleasant. I absolutely loved my pizza and see why it is such a popular eatery. This is a must-eat if you are in Lille and I highly recommend making a reservation to dine here.

Regina di Papà was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. If you’re visiting Lille, don’t miss this place! There was no need to wait in line, which was a nice bonus. Highly recommended! 😊🍕

Essential Tips for Enjoying Italian Dining in Lille

Navigating the Italian restaurant scene in Lille requires a bit of local knowledge to ensure you get the most out of your experience. Unlike the more casual dining habits often associated with pizza, high-quality Italian cuisine here is treated with the same reverence as classic French gastronomy. Understanding the rhythm of the service, the menu structure, and the booking culture will significantly enhance your meal and help you avoid common tourist pitfalls.

Book well in advance, especially on weekends. Lille is a bustling metropolitan hub, and the best Italian tables are in extremely high demand. For popular spots in Vieux-Lille, waiting until the afternoon to book a table for the same evening is usually a recipe for disappointment. It is highly recommended to reserve at least two to three days in advance for Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night dinners to secure a reasonable seating time.

Don’t skip the antipasti. In many lesser Italian restaurants, appetizers are an afterthought. However, in Lille’s top establishments, the antipasti section is often where the chef’s creativity and the quality of imported ingredients shine brightest. Look for boards featuring imported burrata, San Daniele prosciutto, or seasonal vegetable fritti to start your meal the authentic way.

Embrace the regional diversity. Italy is a country of distinct culinary regions, and Lille’s restaurant scene reflects that. Do not expect every restaurant to serve Fettuccine Alfredo or Spaghetti Bolognese. Instead, look at the menu to determine if the restaurant specializes in Roman pinsa, Neapolitan pizza, or Sicilian seafood. Choosing a dish that aligns with the restaurant’s regional focus will almost always guarantee a better meal.

Understand the pizza style. Not all pizza is created equal, and Lille offers a distinct divide between Neapolitan and Roman styles. Neapolitan pizza features a high, soft, airy crust (cornicione) with a soupy center, while Roman-style pizza is thin, crispy, and often sold by the slice or as a flatbread. If you prefer a crispy base, look for "pizza Romana" or "pinsa" on the menu rather than "pizza Napoletana."

Check for lunch formulas. Dining out in Lille can be expensive, but many of the city’s top Italian restaurants offer exceptional value during the midday service. The "Formule Midi" or lunch set menu often includes a starter and a main course, or a main course and dessert, at a fraction of the price you would pay for the same items during dinner service. This is the best way to experience high-end Italian cooking on a budget.

Be mindful of service hours. While Lille is a major city, the kitchen hours in traditional Italian restaurants can be stricter than in standard French brasseries. Many quality trattorias close the kitchen between lunch and dinner service (roughly 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM). If you are looking for a late afternoon meal, ensure the restaurant offers "service continu" (continuous service) before arriving.

The Italian dining scene in Lille is more than just a trend; it is a testament to the city’s appreciation for meticulous craftsmanship and high-quality produce. Whether you are a resident looking for a new favorite haunt or a traveler seeking a break from heavier Flemish fare, the trattorias and pizzerias found in this northern French city offer a genuine taste of Italy.

By choosing establishments that prioritize authentic techniques and imported ingredients, you are not just eating a meal; you are participating in a cultural exchange that has been refined over generations. So, make your reservation, bring your appetite, and prepare to discover why Lille is quickly becoming a benchmark for Italian cuisine in Northern France.
